I have had the opportunity to spend some time up the canyon at our hunting camp. It's always fun to be with family and reminisce around the campfire about our past. It's always fun to be in the mountains in the fall with the cooler temperatures the beautiful leaves and sleeping in a tent with 12 other people. Yes it is hard to get a full night’s sleep with that many people in one tent but, when it's your grand children it's a lot of fun. That’s enough talk about my fall, let’s talk about our clubs fall social. We've moved the social up one week and given the cooks the year off, Dickeys Barbecue Pit will be supplying the food. We will have two choices of meats, pulled pork or turkey, four different side dishes with a role and of course cobbler with ice cream for dessert. It’s going to be a great meal so plan on coming. Kerry and I have talked lately about our declining membership. It seems when there's not any controversy we all seem to become complacent about our need to be a part of a club. Our current membership is less than half what it was in the early 2000's when we were facing closures in Franklin Basin and Tony Grove area. I want to thank those of you who have continually paid your dues and been involved with our club. Without members we don't really have a club and if we don't have a club we don't have a voice with the Forest Service. Kerry and I have wondered if $35 membership is too much and have considered dropping it to $25. What do you think; would that help our membership out? I'm an advocate that a strong club will hold a strong voice. The Logan ranger district is on target to do another motorized use assessment shortly. We need your membership and your voice to be heard. Don’t forget our fall social\fundraiser Nov.15th @ 5:30 PM @ Bridgerland Applied Technology College. See you all there. Kelly Leishman, President - It's time to help your club and your sport : At our social we will be accepting nominations for the following positions; President Elect ( will be Pres next year), Vice Pres ( will move into the Pres Elect next year and then Pres the following year), Secretary (newsletter), Ride Coordinator and Treasurer . If you would be willing to do one of these jobs or know someone that would please let us know, thanks for your help. You can now renew /pay online If you haven't paid you membership dues yet, it's that time again. This is the easiest way to keep yourself involved in this great sport. Your paid membership helps to keep your great sledding areas open by giving you a voice in the constant battle to keep our backcountry open, it pays for your membership in the Utah Snowmobile Association, you’ll receive great newsletters keeping you informed of all the latest happenings, helps maintain the local warming huts, The $35 is by far the best investment in your sleds that you can make. Please include your name, address, phone and email, so we can keep our records current. If you are a current member needing to just renew and we have your current address and email, all we need is your money. You can print up registration forms on line at www.topofutahsnowmobile.com/ click on JOIN and print off the form if you want to.
