DIY: Dress Your Naked Walls

Last year I was living in a new apartment complex and as you may know those blank,
white, boring walls stare at you. Not even my printed comforter or terrible view of the
parking lot could distract the shame coming from my naked walls. Being my instagram
account is my pride and joy, I decided to bring it to life on my walls.
Supplies:
o Lights (or rope)
o Thumbtacks
o Pictures
o Clothespins
o Spray-paint (optional)
First, I ordered gold-wired LED lights off of Amazon for about $9 (which can cost twice
the amount at Urban). Then, I went to Walmart and printed about thirty pictures for
less then twenty bucks and bought clothespins and glitter spray paint. Five coats of
glitter on my pins later; I hung the wire in a ‘S’ shape design with some thumbtacks.
Then clipped on my favorite pictures with my sorority sisters and friends. The whole
process took me less than an hour to hang and my wall was no longer naked. Another
option I did for my friends’ room, if you aren’t a big fan of the lights, is to use
decorative rope. Just cut the rope all the same length and hang them in rows under one
another using thumbtacks as well. She bought decorative clothespins from a craft store
and had hers printed in the form of Polaroid’s, which is another option if you don’t
mind spending a little extra! So no longer did my bed feel vulnerable in a blank room
with a crappy view. Now I just need to do something about the paper-thin walls and
my rowdy frat neighbors who don’t understand the word courteous.
