There are over 67 barn quilts scattered throughout
the hills and valleys of Kentucky’s Fleming County,
officially named the Covered Bridge Capital of
Kentucky.
Located in the Northern Kentucky River Region, in
the outskirts of the famous Bluegrass Region and at
the edge of the Appalachians, our county has more
to offer than meets the eye. True Southern hospitality
is our benchmark, and we believe that once you visit
here, you’ll want to come back. Relax in one of our
bed-and-breakfasts, go antiquing in our local antique
shops and buy authentic Kentucky-made arts and
crafts in our art galleries and studios.

These barn quilts are a tribute to the pioneering women
of Kentucky, who painstakingly created colorful and
intricate patterns of scrap fabric into quilted bed
coverings for the long, cold winters.
Many of these patterns have now been transferred onto
wood and mounted on the traditional barns that dot the
scenic countryside.
