Amy Howard, the creative genius behind the furniture brand
Amy Howard Home, is launching a fresh, fun, easy-breezy way
to “go-green” in design; Rescue Restore Redecorate!
For years Amy has offered a myriad of fabulous products that
clients can use to update and refresh tired furniture. Having
built her incredible business on finding spectacular vintage
pieces and fine antiques, refurbishing them to an artful state and
then reproducing these items for sale; Amy’s quest for 2013 and
beyond is to share her tips and talent for revitalizing what could
be considered throw-aways into lovingly restored magnificent
pieces for the home.
“Breathing life into home décor pieces that otherwise would be
discarded has become a tremendous passion of mine this last
year. Once we discovered that nearly 10 million furniture and
accessory items are being discarded annually; we declared war on
the dismissal of furniture that has full potential for a second act
in them!” Howard said. “The construction and integrity of older
furniture is unquestionable, especially these days with the market
flooded with lesser-quality imports. We decided to rescue and
restore products and show client’s how they too can redecorate
their spaces; not with all new purchases but with a loving hand
and eye for refreshing—it’s quite satisfying really!”
Amy’s methods go way beyond paint and reupholstering. Her
innovative techniques and easy-to-use products will change the
way we look at existing furniture and cast-offs for good. Her
teaching methods are simple to follow, the results are astonishing,
and her sparkle and enthusiasm make her the quintessential
go-to for DIYers around the country and beyond.

I have always seen my home as an extension of myself. Collecting
antiques and objects of art from my travels, as well as pieces that I
have rescued and restored, gives a home a collected feel, a soul.
After 23 years of designing and manufacturing design driven
high-end furniture I am excited to be teaching others how to create
their own works of art with our innovative and patented products.
My passion is now teaching others to follow their dreams and using
creativity and passion as our vehicle.
After introducing the At Home line in 2013, we now have over
200 Amy Howard at Home workshop locations in 4 countries. I
have personally trained our retailers, while instilling our philosophies and passions into each and everyone. They will in turn teach
you how to create the home of your dreams the DIY way.

The Amy Howard At Home Veneziano
Plaster is a Venetian plaster made of
lime and powdered marble. Veneziano
Plaster creates a soft, slightly textural
aesthetic to any walls or ceiling, while
being very durable.

By simply mixing 2 parts of our clear wax and our amazing
Mica powders, you can create beautiful metallic waxes that
are perfect over venetian plaster walls and furniture.
Adding our pure pigments to clear wax can also give you
colored waxes that you can lime furniture, add depth and
color to raw and painted furniture and walls.

We believe the venue of hands
on project workshops are a great
way to learn our techniques and
having something completed to
use in your home. The project
workshops are made of many antique collections that I recreated
from my years of traveling to
Europe. Venetian mirrors, Laurel
wreaths, eglomise trays etc.
Each month will be a different project workshop, allowing
you to create all kinds of new
and wonderful accessories for
your home, that you can enjoy
the bragging rights of doing
yourself.

patina of age to mirrored glass. Use this kit
in tandem with other Amy Howard At Home
products to give a framed mirror the look of an
Old World antique. Add antique mirror insets
to a vanity or chest. Choose from the Amy
Howard At Home line of unfinished pieces,
or rescue one of the one million pieces of
furniture thrown away annually for the ultimate
recycling before and after. Any mirrored
surface can be artfully transformed with the
Mirror Antiquing Kit.

Antiquing Solution enables
you to give metal the look of
aged zinc. Use the Antiquing
Solution to oxidize and age
the metal, then follow with an
application of Light Wax to
buff and seal. Annual maintenance applications of Light
Wax are recommended to protect your piece. Take a plain
metal desktop from standard
to special, or add a unique top
to your kitchen island. Create
an aged zinc finish on metal
candlesticks or containers.

Gilding in ancient history
The practice of beating gold into thin sheets and applying them to objects for
ornamentation goes back over 4000 years to ancient Egypt. Tomb paintings and
reliefs, dating to about 2300 B.C., depict melting gold in the gold worker’s shop,
pounding layers of gold in the preparation of leaf or foil. Palaces and temples
were richly adorned with gold leaf during the Ptolemaic period when Cleopatra’s
father ruled as King of Egypt, 80-51 B. C. Among the finest gilding was that carried out in France in the beginning of the 18th Century during the reign of Louis
XIV, the Sun King, who, in his desire to show his power through the gilt works
of his time, established France’s undisputed leadership in the decorative arts.

Amy Howard finishes authentic and unique. This powder aids in
polishing wax topcoats to a subtle sheen and settles into crevices as
if collected over hundreds of years. Use it in conjunction with other
Amy Howard At Home Toscana Finish products to create a truly
authentic, delicately aged finish.
I have always loved the look of really
grody and pulled finishes on antique
pieces. Just knowing that there have
been multiples applications of paint
and colors over a period of time and
that the years of layering of colors and
wear have allowed the finish and cracking to take place on the piece. Hence
we created a Cracked Patina finish
that could be used on any color of your
choice of water based latex or acrylic
paint. You can use your imagination by
layering of colors and pulled finishes
with the cracked patina finish.
