In October I attended “The
Annual Lodging Conference” in
Phoenix, AR. The headline reads
“good times here to stay”. All
signs point to the industry being
in a state of bliss through 2017.
Quote from PKF Hospitality Hang on- it is going to be an

view is this [upswing in the
lodging business] will persist
through 2017 and we are fairly
confident it will extend into
2018,” said Mark Woodworth,
Senior Managing Director, PKF
Hospitality Research. “We are
seeing above long-run occupancy
levels which will lead to strong
profit growth through 2017,
enough to offset increasing labor
costs. It is a wonderful time to
be in the hotel business.”

GM of the 3nd Quarter 2015–
Jessalyn Younce
I was born and raised in Troy,
Ohio. My fiancé and I have 7
children between the two of us;
3 of which are my own. Their
ages are 17, 15, 14, 13, 10, 8 & 6.
So you can imagine, we are very
busy! We recently inherited an
adorable Pomeranian named
Scooter. Our favorite pastime is
anything
outdoors
hiking,
camping and boating. I have
worked in the hotel industry
since the age of 16. I started as a
front desk associate and housekeeper. I graduated from Edison
State Community College as a
Medical Lab Tech but quickly
realized I wanted to remain in
the hospitality field. I knew I
wanted to be a GM one day. I
guess hospitality runs through
my blood since my mother has
been in the hotel/hospitality
industry for 25 years. She was
my inspiration to pursue this
career path.

I
was
born
in
Kirkland,
Washington, near Seattle. As a
kid I grew up in Ypsilanti,
Michigan, near Ann Arbor. I have
lived in Saint Louis for almost 7
years (moved to be with my wife
who was doing her clinicals, at SLU
Hospital.). We live next to Tower
Grove Park and most days you can
find me “wrangling” my 9 ½ yr. old
Welsh Corgi, Una, at the park.
Tell us something that not many
people know about you?
I have always had an interest in
technology, and IT professions
specifically, but have only been
pursuing this career for the past 5
years. Previous to that, I trained
cooks and held other culinary
positions. I decided that food was
more of a hobby than a career. I
have a strong (and sometimes
expensive) interest in Sci Fi and
Fantasy in any format it’s available. I love to travel, and have been
to most of the contiguous US,
Canada, Hawaii, and Japan.

The craziest thing I’ve done involves my move to St Louis. After
preparing for my move, the
weather at the end of 2008 included what turned out to be a truly
epic blizzard. Since I did not have a
place to stay, I decided I would
brave the storm and drive overnight to make it to Missouri. I
made it to the southern edge of
Minnesota as it was turning dark,
and the radio station announced
the storm was intensifying to the
point that they would be taking

closing the interstates. I ended up
driving through Iowa with roughly

unharmed (and VERY cold), but in
hindsight could have had a very
different outcome.

IT TIPS
On the old game show
"Password," the host whispered a
word to contestants, who then
gave clues to celebrities. The first
to guess correctly advanced to

The legacy of
"Password" lives on, but in the
21st century version, hackers use
tidbits they know about your
employees to guess their passwords. The winner gets the grand
prize: access to the information
on your system. What can you do
to help send hackers home with
the car wax? There's no one-sizefits-all approach to password
security, but here are some easyto-implement
suggestions.
around your office is still likely to
yield a staffer or two with passwords readily visible on their
desks. Fraudsters look for the low
-hanging fruit. If you spot a sticky
note on a colleague's computer,
speak up about this obvious
vulnerability.
The better password isn't a word
at all. Up there with "password"
and "qwerty" in the Hack Me Hall
of Fame are passwords that are
short common terms like team
names, dog breeds, dates, and
other easy-to-guess options.
They're risky on two fronts. First,
an up-to-no-good insider will take
one look at the screensaver of
your adorable sheepdog Ralphie
and immediately try "sheepdog"
and "Ralphie." Second, common

Everything is Awesome …...
Congratulations to Asad Khan and his staff at the Hampton Inn – Duncan for achieving
an “Outstanding” on their Quality evaluation. This is the first time the hotel has received the highest possible designation with Hilton since we have owned it. To receive
the outstanding designation you not only have to have a great inspection, your service
scores need to be at a certain benchmark based on a trailing 6-month score.
*******************************************************************************************************
Huge shout out to Michael Heater and his team on their excellent inspection back on October 13 th. The IHG inspection does not incorporate the service part into the equation but Greenville is in the top 10 for the entire Candlewood Suites brand in service with a score of
92.28, 12-month rolling on a brand average of 84.03. Below are the outstanding scores for Michael and his team which was accomplished with the 1st and 2nd floor demolished from a sprinkler head break causing a lot of damage and time from all the employees at the
hotel. The hotel was without carpet in the halls on these floors.
Brand Standard 97.73% Pass
Cleanliness 96.15% Pass
Brand Safety Standard 98.43% Pass
Condition 95.54 % Pass
Voice of the Guest (OSAT) 92.28 Pass
*******************************************************************************************************
Ms. Cheyenne Wolfe and her team in Farmington had an amazing 99.68% inspection score and her 6 th
straight outstanding score. That is 3 straight years in which this property ever scored below a 99%.
Please congratulate Cheyenne and her team on this great accomplishment!
