genealogical and historical information of Texas,
particularly that which pertains to the city of
Austin, Travis C o u n t y , and adjoining counties;
to instruct and assist members in genealogical
research; and to publish public and private
records, Gifts and bequests are tax-deductible,
Membership is open to all upon payment of
annual dues of $5,00, Family memberships are
available to members of an immediate family in

f o r t h e s t a t e m e n t o r a f f i d a v i t i s u n c l e a r , but something
prompted t h e d e c l a r a t i o n .
The P r o o f s have n o t been copied i n f u l l , except i n
a few c a s e s , b u t t h e v i t a l i n f o r m a t i o n has been given.
The marriages shown a t t h e end of some "Heirships" do n o t
extend p a s t 1882, s o anyone s e e k i n g f u r t h e r i n f o r m a t i o n
r e g a r d i n g T r a v i s Co. marriages should c o n s u l t t h e Marriage

marriage was performed.
In 1840 Travis County covered t e r r i t o r y which l a t e r became a l l o r
p a r t s of Blanco, Brown, B u r n e t , Callahan, Coleman, Comal, Eastland,
G i l l e s p i e , Hays, Lampasas, M i l l s , Runnels, and Taylor counties, so
t h i s volume i s obviously of g r e a t value t o those i n t e r e s t e d i n a wider
area than present Travis County.
M r s . Price meticulously compared t h e recorded l i c e n s e s a g a i n s t
t h e o r i g i n a l s and found many t h a t had not been recorded.
As a s e r v i c e
t o f u t u r e researchers, she arranged t o have such o r i g i n a l s Xeroxed and
t h e copies pasted i n Book 3 , then properly indexed.
