Quality from start to finish
Of all the aspects of wood furniture, the finish most visibly reflects its character, quality and style. While the finish is one of the last things
we do, it’s the first thing you see. That’s why at Hooker, we utilize a multiple-step finish process of up to 16 finish steps. This results in an
unsurpassed clarity, depth and color richness and durability to our finishes. Through hand-craftsmanship such as rubbing and padding, our
finishes “feel” as good as they look, with a smoothness that is delightful to the touch.
Wood & Veneer Construction
Many of our furniture items are constructed of hardwood solids and veneers or hand-painted finishes over durable wood products such
as medium density fiberboard (MDF) and particle board. MDF and particle board are used in quality furniture for areas that need to be
stable, such as large surfaces. These durable wood products do not expand and contract with heat and cold and do not absorb moisture
as much as solid wood, which results in stronger and longer-lasting furniture. Due to a wide variety of wood species and decorative
designs used in our furniture styles, variations in construction are possible.
Drawer Construction & Operation
Grand scale, ornate carvings and soft, flowing shapes infuse Adagio with opulence, and timeless motifs celebrate the
collection’s traditional European roots—updated for today’s lifestyles. The original inspiration for Adagio was a scroll carving
which became a recurring theme throughout the collection used on several signature pieces.

Full height, full depth and full width drawers for maximum storage capacity.
All drawers have strong, time-tested English or French dovetail construction, for years of problem-free use.
Plywood drawer bottoms are attached to plywood drawer sides for strength and durability.
Our top-of-the-line bedroom collections include bottom drawers on major case pieces that are cedar-lined for the aromatic benefit and preservation of clothing.
Some night stands offer receptacles on the back of case.
Adagio’s custom antique gold hardware includes a decorative
pull with a scroll motif, two sizes of carved floral knobs and a
custom drawer pull.

Grand scale and serpentine lines distinguish the statement Adagio sleigh bed.
Upholstered in a beautifully woven multi-dimensional textured fabric in a creamy blend
of neutral colors with repeated tufting for a plush appearance, the bed is easily mixed with
any color scheme. Acanthus leaf carving detail around the base of the bed adds the final
touch of classic appeal to this once-in-a-lifetime bed.

A chevron veneer pattern inspired by a French antique gives a striking
appearance to the Adagio panel bed. Adding to the drama is the
elaborately carved headboard, adorned with a grand interpretation of
the recurring scroll motif. Both the bachelor’s chest and the nightstand
feature touch lights with a light underneath the cases to give ambient
light below. Featuring scroll detailing on each drawer and curvaceous
cabriole legs, the bachelor’s chest offers three roomy drawers and an
electrical receptacle.
