Candidates for and holders of master’s and doctoral degrees wear
hoods over their robes. The hood symbolizes a heavy burden.
The hood identifies the level of the degree, the field of learning
and the institution that awards it. The color of the trim declares
the major field of learning; tan represents Master of Business
Administration; white represents Master of Arts in Management;
gold represents Master of Science in Accountancy. The colors
that line the hood identify the university awarding the degree;
Wake Forest University colors are old gold and black.
