July 11th: Anger: You Are the Director of Your Behavior Through this interactive presentation participants will examine their skills and
strengths they have to become powerful over the anger within and to develop
positive relationships with those that matter i.e. spouse, boss, children, friends,
and relatives.
July 18th: Four Stages of Anger in Children and Adults-There are
predictable patterns of anger from build up to explosion in children. Each stage
provides an opportunity to diffuse the child’s anger. Adults can identify patterns to help move forward in choices to control anger.
July 25th: Anger: Guiding Principles for Personal FreedomParticipants are introduced to options for seeking freedom, love, happiness, and
peace. Personal change is the fundamental outcome of this class.

to examine your thought patterns to understand what is triggering
your angry feelings.
August 15th: Anger & Expectations– When we become angry it is often because of our expectations for a situation.
August 22nd: Anger: Thinking and Planning Strategically-Participants are introduced to ideas that will assist them in
thinking strategically about the outcomes of their behavior.
August 29th: When Little Children Are Angry– Participants will define anger, identify causes of anger and discuss management strategies.

and determine if the behavior is detrimental to the child’s learning and success.
Books, stories, and other materials will be utilized as an approach in guiding

to assist them in preparation for the holiday months.
October 17th: Calming the Fire Within-Explore the dynamics of anger
& explore steps to calm the fire within.
October 24th: When Anger Hurts Your Kids– If you are concerned
about anger and the way it affects kids, discover tools to handle parent-child
conflict.
October 31st: Anger in Families: Typical Problems Facing Families– Explore 20 of the most anger provoking situations, and learn to change
what you think and how you respond.

behavior will be emphasized. The DVD by Thomas Phelan,
Ph.D. will be the foundation for class and discussion.

Magic: Effective Discipline Ages
2-12 Part II– Participants will review Part I of 1, 2, 3
Magic and the six types of testing and manipulation children
use on adults. The six “start” behavior tactics will be discussed and practiced.

emotional development of infants and toddlers.

Exploring the 40 Developmental Assets and the
Role of Parents as Asset Builders - The Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets are common sense, positive experiences that represent the relationships, opportunities and personal qualities that young people need in order
to avoid risks and thrive. The training takes a close look at the developmental
assets and ways to create an intentionally rich asset-based program that involves parents as asset builders.
