Breaking news: 2 francophone schools become one in Christ’s name
We are delighted to present to you:
École de théologie évangélique du Québec, abbreviated
as ETEQ
In the book of Ezekiel, particularly in Ez. 37:15-22, we
read of symbolic events that seem to be speaking about
this kind of joining together what would normally have
stayed separate. Ezekiel holds up two pieces of wood
The new identity ETEQ , takes elements from the two inscribed with the names (Judah and Joseph), to show
denominational school histories:

Hector Hernandez;
ETEQ student
Hector Hernandez has been an
ETEQ student working toward
his bachelor’s degree in theology since the summer of 2014.
It was during his program in
religious studies at Université
du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) that Hector heard of
ETEQ for the first time through one of our students. He
attended one of our open house events and shortly after
that decided to continue his studies with us.
When we asked him about his experience at ETEQ, he
responded: “Having smaller groups offers the possibility
of better class discussions as well as closer relationships
between teachers and students. The community aspect is
much appreciated. It’s simple and accessible! I also enjoy
activities offered by ETEQ such as MIDI-VIE.”
A pastor since 2002, Hector leads a church plant in
downtown Montreal. He shares with us, “we are working
at establishing other plants in other parts of Montreal as
well as in Laval.” We can see in Hector his passion for the
Word and the Kingdom of God along with his desire to
see lives transformed by Christ!
Originally from Cuba, Hector informs us he wishes to
deepen his theological and biblical knowledge in order
to better serve the Kingdom of God. He also aspires to Thank you, Hector, for sharing a part of your life with us

understanding of the Church through theology.
Interviewed by Véronique Beaudin
A conference was held in Montreal on February 25, 2016 entitled
“Taking Care of Each Other: Learning from our Chaplains”
In the context of the course “Pastoral Care” with Sessional Instructor Jean-Christophe Bieselaar, students
had a unique opportunity to interact with 5 people
working in pastoral care within institutions where isolation (sometimes by choice, sometimes not and sometimes both) is often the trademark.
From left to right in the picture are: Jean Zoellner (armed
forces), Jason Zuidema (seaports), David Shantz and
Elizabeth Martin (the penal system), and Jean-Christophe Bieselaar (the hospital sector). This was a rich
learning experience with these practitioners who strive
to represent Christ to people in need and people who
are often forgotten by society, and even by the Church.
On Sunday, February 28th Jean-Christophe presented a
conference in Quebec City on another topic in which he
specializes: the interracial couple.
Author of the recent book “Viv(r)e le couple interculturel”, and having counselled hundreds of couples in
preparation for marriage, he spoke on the subject “UNDERSTANDING THE INTERCULTURAL COUPLE:
10 INGREDIENTS TO CONTRIBUTE TO ITS SUCCESS”. So interested in the subject were the attendees
that they even weathered an approaching snowstorm
(that hit during the conference)! Praise God – they all
got home safely too!
Mr. Bieselaar is a lecturer at ETEQ in pastoral studies,
and although living in Paris he often comes to Quebec
to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. During
his next visit, he will be teaching “ Interculturalism and
Faith within the Couple, the Family and the Church”.
Thank you donors!
Dozens of individuals and churches from church families (MB, CMA and other families)
in Quebec as well as in other parts of Canada give regularly and sacrificially to make this
academic education possible. We are so very grateful.
