International Development Corp. INSTRUCTIONS Carefully insert the light into the ground where desired. Push the stake into the ground until the top collar is even with the ground surface. NOTE: If the ground is hard and packed, moisten the ground with water before inserting the stake to avoid breakage. A NOTE: Some parts may come pre-assembled. C B (Part C) may have a protective cover to keep the prongs from bending, this must be removed prior to use. CONNECTING THE LIGHTS Unwind the cable and transformer and lay the lights along a line where you wish to locate your lights. Connect the lights by taking the plug connector end (Part C) of one light and inserting it into the plug connector (Part B) of the next light in line and. Twist the plug cap clockwise until secure. Plug the connector into another light, solar panel, or cable. NOTE: DO NOT insert the plug connector into the same light. The last light in line will plug into the socket of the solar panel. Secure all plug connectors by firmly inserting plugs into sockets and turning the plug caps clockwise to tighten. Secure the exposed socket on the first light in line with the separate plug cap (Part D) provided with the solar panel. Firmly slide assembled (Parts E, F & G) onto top of (Part H) until it is flush. Push the stake into the ground until the top collar is even with the ground surface. E SOLAR PANEL TOP SECTION F D B BATTERY D G H SCREWS ON/OFF SWITCH PLUG CAP B FOR FIRST TIME USE: SOLAR LIGHT NEEDS TO CHARGE IN FULL SUNLIGHT FOR 8 - 12 HOURS WITH THE SWITCH IN THE "ON" POSITION TO ALLOW THE RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES TO REACH MAXIMUM CAPACITY. If the lights do not turn on after 8 - 12 hours of charging, make sure the slide switch is in the "ON" position. NOTE: If light doesn't turn on, remove battery, wipe both ends with a clean dry cloth and reinstall battery. Check the battery to ensure that it is making secure contact with the terminals. If this doesn't work, replace with a new battery. CONNECTING TO THE LIGHTS: Unscrew the (Part D) attached on the socket of the solar panel. Connect (Part B) of the solar panel to (Part C) of the last light. Twist the plug cap clockwise until secure. REPLACING THE BATTERY: Slide the power switch to the "OFF" position. Remove the 8 screws from the bottom of solar panel using a phillips head screwdriver. Remove old battery and replace with a new lithium phosphate (LifePO4) 1200 mAh rechargeable battery. Lithium phosphate batteries are available through IDC Westinghouse. Replace the top section and secure with the 8 screws. Slide the power switch to the "ON" position. For optimum performance, allow batteries to charge in full sunlight. WARNING: Do not dispose of lithium phosphate batteries in municipal waste stream or by fire as batteries may explode. Do not open, short circuit, or mutilate batteries. Dispose of batteries in accordance with Local, State, and Federal regulations. Contains no toxic metals. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard (Carbon-Zinc), or rechargeable (Nickel Cadmium or Nickel Metal Hydride) batteries with Lithium Iron Phosphate (lithium phosphate) batteries. Item # 57210x-xx 03/16/11 E
