The new record is 300 m of tunnel per month 9 CRUSHING & STORAGE CIVIL WORKS, NGHI SON CEMENT PLANT PROJECT Location: Nghe An Province Employer: Nghi Son Cement Corporation Consultant: Nihon Cement Co., Ltd., Coninco Designer: Kumagai Gumi – International Engineering Center Nghi Son Crushing & Storage Civil Works included design and construction of the Limestone Primary Crushing House & Silica Receiving House along with Adjoining Retaining Walls, Limestone Secondary Crushing House, Limestone Screen Section House and Storage Yards, Electric House, Long Distance Belt Conveyor Control House and Belt Conveyor Foundation. The material storage, which has the span of 82 m is the largest span storage in Vietnam at that time. Joint Venture Name: Kumagai – Kukdong – Astaldi JV Contract Period: Apr. 1997 – Jan. 2001 Scope of Works: - Hydropower plant 300 MW - Rock fill dam: 4,600,000m3 - Earthfill dam (3 nos.): 3,000,000m3 (total) - Tunnel The Ham Thuan Hydropower Plant Project was to build a 300 MW hydropower plant which is located in the La Nga river basin in Lam Dong and Binh Thuan provinces. The Ham Thuan dam could create 695 million m3 reservoir storage with HWL of 605.00m on the most upstream of the La Nga river. This project is a half of scale of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant. While it took 15 years to build Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, Kumagai Gumi completed Ham Thuan Hydropower Plant Project in only 45 months and saved 30% of construction costs for the Government of Vietnam in comparison with the preliminary plan. This was one of the four contracts to rehabilitate and build 40.39km of highway using ADB loan. In completing this project, Kumagai Gumi has faced various obstacles of delayed site hand over, design changes, and war aftermath. Kumagai Gumi with the local joint venture partners have overcome these difficulties and completed the project on schedule. The Exchange of Notes between the Government of Japan and the Government of Vietnam was signed on 17th December 2003 for the implementation of this Grant Aid Project. The Project purposes are (1) provision of information on and introduction of the My Son Sanctuary to the domestic and foreign tourists and (2) classification and arrangement of the artifacts for safety storage by constructing exhibition and administration facilities at the entrance area of the Sanctuary and providing necessary equipment. Hue Central Hospital, established in 1894, is the oldest hospital in Vietnam. The Hospital is not only the major medical treatment and training institution in Central Vietnam, but also one of the three largest specialized medical centers in Vietnam, along with Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi and Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. Key elements of this project consist of the construction of facilities (a 7-storey Central Examination Building, a 3-storey Outpatient Building and a singlestorey Mechanical Building) and the provision of modern medical equipment. The proposed facilities will contribute to significant improvements of healthcare services to the people of Central Vietnam Scope of Works: 1. EPDC Scope of Works: Contract CW1 relates to the construction of a 1.6 km long inlet canal; an intake structure, an 11.2 km long tunnel; foundation works for a 2.2 km long penstock; a 300 MW powerhouse; a 700m long tailrace tunnel; a switchyard, about 15km of mountainous service roads and about 11km of river training works along the Matin river. The Dai Ninh Hydropower Project is located on the Da Nhim river, 260km north – east of Ho Chi Minh City. This project is a multipurpose project for the generation of electricity for the Southern Power System (rated power 300 MW) and water transfer from the Dong Nai river catchment area down to Binh Thuan Province.
