Take it forward.® Don’t miss the U.S. premiere of the most comprehensive Beatles collection ever assembled. MOTOR MUSTER 2016 CELEBRATES THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHEVROLET CAMARO AND MERCURY COUGAR. The Chevrolet Camaro and its sister, the Pontiac Firebird, were introduced in September of 1966 as part of General Motors’ 1967 lineup. These pony cars were General Motors’ answer to the hugely successful Ford Mustang, introduced in 1964 as a 1965 model. Following Ford’s lead of basing the Mustang on its compact Falcon chassis, the Camaro was based on a modified Nova platform. Again, much like the Mustang, the Camaro offered buyers many options for power trains and trim packages, including a Rally Sport with a deluxe interior and hidden headlights. An RS/SS convertible Camaro was the official pace car for the 1967 Indianapolis 500. The Camaro is now a true icon of the mid-1960s pony car era. It was in continuous production until 2002, returned in 2010 and in 2016 begins its sixth generation. August of 1966 also saw Mercury’s entrance into the pony car market with the Cougar, which was based on a stretched version of the Mustang. The Cougar’s standard V-8 engine and elegant interior were impressive enough for the car to be named Motor Trend’s Car of the Year for 1967. The map inside will help you locate food, shopping, historic transportation, guest services and village activities, including extra events and exhibits open this weekend. 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Sales Brochure From The Henry Ford Archive of American Innovation™ Runnning through September 18, 2016 Henry Ford Museum® thehenryford.org/beatles Presented by Supported by Exhibition developed by Exhibits Development Group in collaboration with Peter Miniaci & Associates.
