The Dewi Collection proudly supports the artists and artisans of Bali. Their unique hand
woven and beaded handbag$ are a true reflection of the island's talent culture and
beauty. Purchase of these unique handbags help to insure the preservation of the ancient
art form of traditional weaving and beading passed down through generations of artisans.
Our hand woven baskets are by Balinese artistwho weave intricate designs and graceful
shapes both traditional & contemporary weaving, an ancient Balinese artform.
Local weavens use a sturdy forest grass to craft each unique basket. Once the basket has
completed the weaving process it is place in a smokehouse over emberc of coconut
husks and honey to dry and cure. This ancient process preserves and burnishes the
baske6 to a rich warn honey color.
Our unique hand beaded purces are made in a smallvillage near the cultural capital of the
island - Ubud. Our beading artist are continually creating new designs and mixing them
with traditional Bali motifs creating a one of a kind museum quality handbag.
Our Master Artisans are kept busy the whole year. That guarantees food on their table,
shelter for those who pay rent for their homes, clothing for their families and, most
import4$ly, school for their children and money for doctor visits.
