PROTECTION AND ENERGY SAVING FOR
FINNED PACK HEAT EXCHANGERS
Maintaining the initial thermal capacity

Re-applicable also on the installation site
The AiAX AA Aqua Aero anticorrosion protection is a
special water based coat, composed of new high
chemical resistance resins, applicable by flooding or
spraying method.
The technical features and the tested and certified
quality of the AiAX AA Aqua Aero product guarantee
the protection of the finned pack coils in the most
aggressive environments and in the most particular
applications.
The product is, in fact, flexible to resist to thermal
contractions and expansions, UV resistant, dirt repellent,
mechanically resistant and with limited
heat
transmission losses (around 2%). Practically no effects on
air side pressure drop.
The treatment is guaranteed for 3 years (in Italy) against
corrosion provided a normal maintenance is carried out.
The AiAX AA Aqua Aero treatment consists in a series
of operations which can be summarized as follows:
- Coil washing and degreasing;
- Application of an aluminium conversion layer ;
- Application with the flooding method of a surface layer
with total penetration of the finned pack of any
commercial size;
- Final touch up with a spraying method for a double
protection of the fin edge (critical point of corrosion
attack).
Exclusive method of application by
flooding set up by AiAX Italia Srl
AiAX Italia Srl has set up a unique application
denominated “by flooding”. It realizes a protection in the
inner part of the finned pack with no limitation in the
thickness of heat exchanger.
The curing time of the protection is about 30 minutes
with a thickness on the fin edge of about 25 micron. No
smell deriving from solvents as the product is water
based.

The AiAX AA Aqua Aero product has been
expressly designed to be applicable with
the flooding and the spraying method.
The flooding method guarantees the complete
penetration of the finned pack and therefore the
protection against both the galvanic corrosion and the
corrosion deriving from pollution accumulation.
The flooding method is much simpler than the high
pressure spaying and eliminates the possibility of
operator mistake.
After the flooding of the finned pack it is appropriate to
carry out a further protection of the fin edges by
spraying them.
The fins have, in fact, a thickness lower than 200 micron
and therefore a limited coating support structure.
The fin edge on the air entering side can also be subject
to erosion from solid particles carried by the air. The
double protection, by flooding and by spraying,
represents the most serious system so far experimented
for a long lasting anticorrosion protection.
Warranty extension
The 3 year warranty in Italy, offered by AiAX can be
extended to a maximum of 12 years provided a
maintenance contract is stipulated with AiAX certified
personnel.

The application of the protection inside
the finned pack is guaranteed also for
big depth dimension finned pack.
Field of application and operational limits
The AiAX AA Aqua Aero product resists practically in all ambient situations, from marine to rural
ambients, from industrial areas to urban zones.
The treatment corrosion resistance depends from the concentration of vapours/polluting agents in the
installation site.
If the concentration limits are exceeded the warranty is no longer valid. The chemical resistance list can
be downloaded from the site: www.aiaxcoatings.com. The field of temperatures of applicability of the
AiAX AA Aqua Aero product is from -50°C to +180 °C.
The AiAX AA Aqua Aero treatment has a high
corrosion resistance.
To reach correct valutations various test have been
carried out and the relative Test Reports are available as
per the enclosed table.
