Teaming up to build a better future
Teaming up to build a better future Become a Bike Sponsor or Volunteer! What: 50 Bikes for 50 Kids is a community service event that matches teams of volunteers with well-deserving kids to help assemble 50 new Specialized bikes. When: Monday, January 18, 2016, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a National Day of Service. Who: Kids between the ages of 9-17 are nominated by local organizations for demonstrating traits such as respect, responsibility and citizenship. After nominations are reviewed, 50 youth are selected to help build and receive a new bike. The kids and volunteers experience teamwork, volunteerism, and a sense of community. Why: 50 Bikes for 50 Kids demonstrates the value of what hard work, community and volunteerism can accomplish while introducing kids to the healthy, life-long benefits of bicycling for both themselves and their community. “The Sacramento region has been a great home for Bella Bru so we want to support kids who are growing up here and help celebrate this special day with them.” Sponsor, Liz M., Owner, Bella Bru Café “I will always remember the smiling faces of students leaving the cafeteria with newly-built bicycles, accompanied by proud parents and team members. This was a rich and rewarding experience for students and volunteers alike.” Volunteer, Arlete H. “My daughter Mia had an amazing experience at the 50 Bikes for 50 Kids event. The volunteers made the kids feel like rock stars. The hands-on experience was tremendous, as well as the enthusiasm transferred to her. She was so excited to ride, be active and use it every day.” Parent of Bike Recipient, Melissa M. NorthNatomasTMA.org How: Sponsor: Help play a role in changing kids’ lives!
