Campus Compact for New Hampshire (CCNH) connects
campuses with their communities in ways that enhance
students’ education while providing millions of dollars in
service to those who need it most. Together with our 22
member colleges and universities, we work to ensure that
student graduate with the skills and knowledge not only to
succeed in today’s workforce but also to address society’s most
pressing issues.

CCNH is a statewide consortium of college and
university presidents and private-sector partners who are united in their commitment to
the civic purposes of higher education. CCNH
is an affiliate of the national Campus Compact
organization, which encompasses more
than 1,100 college and university presidents
representing some 6 million students. These
students contribute more than $7 billion annually in service to their communities through
campus-supported programs. With 22 member
colleges and universities, CCNH is proportionally one of the most active state Compacts in

CCNH’s programs support campus-community partnerships
through which students tutor at-risk children and youths, work
to reduce poverty, help the hungry and homeless, provide health
care education and services, create sustainable energy and environmental programs, and much more. In addition to providing
direct community benefits, students who engage in this work
have been shown to perform better academically, develop
leadership and critical thinking skills, and maintain a lasting
commitment to public and community service.
Over the past 15 years, CCNH and its member campuses have had
an enormous impact on New Hampshire’s communities:
Since its founding in 1997, CCNH has distributed nearly
$1 million in partnership grants and supported more than
400 campus-community projects.
CCNH engages some 50,000 students annually in programs to
strengthen education, health care, the environment, economic
development, and other community interests.
During the 2011–2012 academic year alone, students at CCNH
member institutions contributed over 5.4 million hours of
community service, providing an economic benefit of $117
million to the state’s nonprofit infrastructure.
CCNH has deployed 350 VISTAs to serve in low-income
communities and 1,500 AmeriCorps members to address the
needs of children with mental health issues.
We’ve extended campus capacity through 150 workshops and
conferences on topics spanning service-learning, civic engagement, college access and success, student leadership, and
community-based research, among others.
Over the past two years, our College Access initiative has
awarded 65 grants for activities aimed at encouraging lowincome, minority, and other underrepresented students to
access higher education, benefitting more than 7,500 K-12
students.
