• The Ordinary World of most heroes is a static
but unstable condition.
• The seeds of change and growth are planted,
and it takes only a little new energy to
germinate them.
• That new energy, symbolized in countless
ways in myths and fairy tales, is what Joseph
Campbell termed the Call to Adventure.

• Now the hero fully enters the mysterious,
exciting Special World which Joseph Campbell
called "a dream landscape of curiously fluid,
ambiguous forms
• It's a new and sometimes frightening
experience for the hero.
• No matter how many schools he has been
through, he's a freshman all over again in this
new world
– What is the Testing phase of Perseus?
• Pass against Calibos for a while, survive from Hades poison,
meet the witches and get information successful

Ordinary World?

make the final assault on the highest peak.

– Can the villain also be a Shapeshifter or Trickster?
What other archetypes might a villain manifest?
• Hades is the shapesshifter in front of Zeus in Olympus
• Hades become the Shadow for Zeus.
– Does your story truly have a villain?
• Yes, It would be Hades, the main architect of the chaos
– In what way is the villain or antagonist the hero's
Shadow?
• Hades makes an issue about betrayal of human being against
Zeus
• He gets the Zeus attention and trust to punish the human
• Release the Kraken
– Is the villain's power channeled through partners or
underlings? What special functions do these parts
perform?
• Yes, he does, by giving Calibos power of Hades that use to
kill perseus.
– Can the villain also be a Shapeshifter or Trickster?
What other archetypes might a villain manifest?
• Yes, he can. Hades can be shapeshifter, he has provoked
Zeus to punish Human, and then betrayal him and attack the
Olympus.
– In what way does your hero face death in the Ordeal?
What is your hero's greatest fear?
• The death of his family, his lover & mentor, Io, the death of
the allies.
• Perseus fear about being a God, cause the past traumatic of
his life, also Medusa and Kraken, The powerful Titans that
has to be defeated.

• With the crisis of the Ordeal passed, heroes
now experience the consequences of surviving
death.

opportunity for a love scene?
• Yes, in the end zeus brings Io life and accompany
perseus as a couple.

mission.

• Once the lessons and Rewards of the great Ordeal
have been celebrated and absorbed, heroes face
a choice: whether to remain in the Special World
or begin the journey home to the Ordinary
World.

world as a fisherman
• Although the Special World may have its charms,
few heroes elect to stay (in ordinary world)
– Perseus refuse Andromeda’s offer to be a King in
Argos

– what are the advantages and disadvantages of heroes
being ejected or chased from the Special World?
• The advantage: the story end
• The disadvantage: The writer has a great reason to make

your starting place? Setting a new destination?

• Not to mention but, we know perseus wants to live with Io
int the ordinary world

• Now comes one of the trickiest and most
challenging passages for the hero and the writer.
– Perseus jumps from pegasus to seizing the head of
Medusa from shapeshifter, Hades.
• This is the climax (not the crisis), the last and
most dangerous meeting with death.
– Kraken almost success to eat the Andromeda but It
canceled by perseus
• Heroes have to undergo a final purging and
purification before reentering the Ordinary World
– By Kill the Kraken, and send Hades back to the Hell
– What is the Resurrection in your story?
• After Death of Io.
– What negative characteristics has your hero
picked up along the way?
• Selfish, Perseus won’t to battle
– Is there a need for a physical showdown in your
story?
• In this story, Yes.
– RETURN WITH THE ELIXIR
• Having survived all the ordeals, having lived
through death, heroes return to their starting
place, go home, or continue the journey.
– Perseus don’t want to be a King and live with
Andromeda
• If they are true heroes, they Return with the Elixir
from the Special World; bringing something to
share with others, or something with the
powerto heal a wounded land.
– Not to detail mention in this story.
– What is the Elixir your hero brings back from the
experience?
• Io
– Who is the hero of the story now? Has your story
changed heroes, or have characters risen to be
heroes?
• No, still Perseus, with helps of Zeus
