El Presidente
G’day all
Welcome again to our famous words, at least we could hold the last comp and was
not too bad a wave, if I remember.. been so many good ones since. Not much really
happening now as we are heading towards the end of the year. We have the Xmas
party coming up on 11th December, at Pierce Park in Maroochydore again, starting
at about 12pm.
All had a great time in PNG, nice waves, great beer and fishing was amazing. I
caught the biggest fish of my life the first time out fishing 8 ft sail fish and same boat
snowy caught a good size Spanish mackerel.
See ya at the comp this weekend… Cam.
Fishing PNG style – “Cam had to release his sailfish because they’re extinct!”, Snowy
From the Head of Vice
Hey people out there! Santas coming! I must say these xmas times seem to come around faster every year. Must be the
age thing eh! One good thing is with xmas comes cyclone season.Woohoo! Not that I actually want a cyclone to cross our
beautiful coastline or anything. But it would be great if one just hovered out to sea a little for the next couple of months.
So whats happening on the mal club front you may well ask. The boys are back from PNG.Ive yet to catch up with anyone
yet but im sure they will have plenty of stories to tell on Sunday. hats happening on Sunday you are thinking. Sunday is
the final comp for 2010 and we may be in for a fairly decent surf. Well we can only hope so.
I would ask of all mal club members to show up and surf like its your last.Or is that surf like no ones watching! Anyway!
just turn up and enjoy your day with some of the nicest people on the coast. And who knows if your a really good boy or
girl Santa may have a trophy for you. I believe there are a few contenders that are presently neck and neck and this will
be the deciding factor. Not the X factor just the final factor.
We are currently organising the end of the year bash and its shaping up to be a grand affair. This is definitely one to pencil
into your social calendar. There will be great food, plenty of refreshments. And im sure the cricket bat will be brought
out. Maybe even a nudey run if you hang around after the sun goes down. Stranger things have happened at this much
anticipated event.
On a different note on behalf of all mal club memebers i would like to congratulate Downsey and his lovely better half Lisa
on the birth of their first child.Im sure she will spend many hours hanging at the bluff like the rest of us.Just enjoying it for
what it is.
Last but not least i would ask of any club members who had the honour of scoring one of the perpetual trophies to return
them to me asap as this years names need to be engraved on them.Youve had your 12 months of fame and now its
someone elses turn to bask in the glory.
So see you all on sunday.Probably a good idea to bring your brolly. Could be a little damp at times.
Adios Amigos!
GAZZA (THE VICE WITH A HEAD)
Kawana Board Meeting
Friday before the comp I realized I might be in a bit of trouble when
organisers confirmed the location.. Kawana. Those of you who have
surfed the Kawana beachies when it’s been onshore 4’+ and full tide, will
know what I’m talking about, crunch time! Saturday morning saw the surf
dishing up 3’ of thick shorebreak landing in 1’ of water, just right for the
longboard.. not!
But the event is not about the surf, but about fun and charity, and that’s
where it excelled. AHMC did the right thing and put up a team, Gazz, Dan,
Cody and me. Cody didn’t like the look of the conditions (when he knew
the Bluff would be good) and took a lift with mum to Alex. That was fine;
we got Dan to surf twice.
My fears were not lessened when a shortboarder snapped his beloved
stick in the heat before ours. Survival tactics were discussed – wave
selection was critical.
The shorebreak slammin’ Kawana boardriders.
To cut a long story short, we survived. I was
impressed by the skill and courage (or
recklessnss) of the Kawana boardriders, in
such poor conditions they still managed to surf
with power and style. Made me kinda wanna to
get a shorty… nah!
By the end of the day with a few free beers, a
bikini parade and a ‘tear in the eye’ feel good
charity presentation, I was feeling very good
about life, the universe and everything. A top
Great way to score bonus points from the judges, but suicide in the shorebreak!!
effort to all the organizers for such a successful
and fun event. I came away with a t-shirt, stylish bow-tie rashy and the meat tray, bargain!! I’ll be there next year.

Nice view, pity about the surf.
Sunday on the deck, a nice place to be.

Gdaygday mal grooversowzitgarn?
Well we’re getting to the pointy end of the
season now and trophies are on the line, so I
hope to see you all there, this Sunday.
Last month’s competition was a bit like
ground hog day I think we have had 3 or 4
comps this year which were very similar
conditions we had 2ft cleanish very
consistent south east swell. It was very
contestable and fun all day. Not a bad turn
out we had 13 heats that wrapped up about
11.30am.
You may have heard about our fantastic
news? Little Florence Matilda Down arrived

we are over the moon. She has already
gained a couple of nicknames our favourite, named by Cody, ‘Flo-rider’. And Ry will be making her first board this summer.
