President’s Message
I
t’s impossible to believe that July 4th is behind us, and
plans are well underway for the 2014 Fall Management
Conference at the Dover Downs Hotel and Casino on
September 17 and 18.
The conference committee has planned for a variety of
workshops and guest speakers designed to inform, educate
and re-energize our commitment to promoting the development and preservation of decent and safe affordable
housing. Topics run the gamut from preparing for an audit
interview, to understanding tax credits basics, to the Fair
Housing requirements for Reasonable Accommodations.
Impressive keynote and seminar speakers will speak
to life in the workplace and will offer invaluable tools
and techniques to enrich our professional day to day experience. Dr. Lisa Prosser-Dodds will address Conflict

share ideas about delivering fun to the
workplace. I look forward to seeing you
all in Delaware for what promises to be
an outstanding two days. Please join me
in thanking our committees for their time and dedication
in planning.
Remember to check our website and follow us on
Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. We update regularly to reinforce our sense of community and educate our members.
Enjoy the remainder of your summer and travel safely. I
look forward to seeing you all soon.

Former PennDel President
receives award
Q1 2014 Inspirational Leadership Star
Richard Skoczylas Regional Property
Manager II - Philadelphia Ops – East
Area has been named Aimco’s 1st
quarter 2014 Inspirational Leadership
Star. Rich served as the 2012-2013
PennDel AHMA President.
In the AIMCO release about this
this award, Tina Ratliff (Community
Manager II, Washington Square West)
was quoted as saying: "Richard has
been a great asset to our
team and deserves to
be recognized for many
reasons. For example, he
sets stretch goals with
his team. He spends time
developing his team. He
engages in highly collaborative behavior. He encourages those about him to
be more innovative. Other things we
can identify about Richard are somewhat less recognized and much more
well deserved. This inspirational leader
August 13
is more adept at
making emotional
connections with
his team, for instance. He is better
at establishing a
clear vision. He is very effective in his
communication and willing to spend
more time communicating. He is an
ardent champion of change. We, as a
team, know Richard as a
very effective role model within the Aimco."
Any of us who have
served with Rich on the
Penn Del AHMA board
can attest to the fact
that Rich demonstrates and exercises
all of those characteristics and attributes on behalf of Penn Del AHMA.
Congratulations, Rich, for the
well-deserved recognition!
