Why we run creches
We run a variety of crèches at the centres to allow parents to
access a variety of services, such as groups, training and
counselling.
The main focus of our crèches is to offer support to your child to
ensure they have a safe and enjoyable time. Whilst in the crèche
they have the opportunity to learn new things, meet new friends
and most of all, have fun.
What happens
next?
Once you are happy your child is settled you will be
able to relax and attend your session, secure in the
knowledge your child is safe and well looked after.
If your child does not settle, or becomes upset at
any time when in the crèche, a member of staff will
contact you in your group.
Who looks after my
child?
What will my
child be doing?
All our crèches are always staffed with experienced childcare
practitioners, who have relevant qualifications and up to date training. We work in close partnership with other childcare
agencies, and sometimes they deliver crèches on our behalf.
The staff will provide a range of toys and activities,
age appropriate for your child. These may include:
Our crèches are planned to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage principles and commitments.
What do I do when I bring my child to a
creche?
As you drop your child off in a crèche, staff will ask you to complete
a crèche form to provide us with information about your child. This is
so we can make sure we follow your child’s routines, such as nappy
changing and sleep times. But, it also enables you to share other
information which may help us – this could be information such as:
•
•
•
•
Arts & crafts
Messy play
Songs & rhymes
Stories
If the crèche is longer than an hour, we offer your child a healthy snack and a drink of milk or water.
What will the staff be doing?
In addition to playing and working with your child during the crèche, crèche workers will also supervise children, to ensure
their safety at all times, and attend to their care and needs. They observe what activities your child enjoys, in order to plan
further activities during the next crèche they attend.
Creche workers also collect information for your child's Learning Journey.

They have just woken up
They haven’t eaten yet
They may require a nappy change
They have had a busy morning
There is a problem at home, that morning
Staff do not want this information to pry into your lives, but to help them
be able to offer the best possible care to your child. Any information
shared will be treated in confidence, following the Children’s Centre
Confidentiality Policy.
When you drop your child off, staff will also label items such as bags,
bottles or toys, with your child’s name so we ensure you get all your
belongings back at the end of the session.

What is a Learning Journey?
A Learning Journey is a record of your child's learning in their crèche, built up over time. It shows links to the Early Years
Foundation Stage (EYFS) and your child's development. You may wish to share this with your child's nursery or school.
Creche staff will be happy to chat with you about how you can contribute to your child’s Learning Journey
What happens when collecting my child?
As your session finishes please make your way back to the crèche to collect your child. Children are only allowed to leave
the crèche room with the parent/carer who signed them in, unless other arrangements have been made with a member of
staff when first dropping your child off. Staff will share information and talk to you about what your child has done, and ask
you to sign the crèche form prior to them leaving.
