Ferris Lay Rose
Ferris Lay Rose have carefully selected a hosiery manufacturer from the Scotland who
have extensive experience working for some of the prestige names in hosiery such as
Pringle and Johnstons of Elgin
The Kilt Hose, Dance and Country socks selected by Ferris Lay Rose are considered to be
made from the best mix of materials so as to provide comfort and longevity as well as an
exciting range of styles and colours. Less expensive ranges can easily be purchased but
Ferris Lay Rose want to concentrate on the providing quality products that they are proud
to wear themselves when dancing or partaking in country pursuits.
Unless otherwise stated all Ferris Lay Rose socks are made with a Merino Wool and
Acrylic blend chosen for comfort, strength and machine washability (40oc wool wash, see
Laundry & Care section).
Kilt Hose and socks have a small amount of Lycra added in the turnover area to lightly
grip the calf so that garters are not relied on to support the sock. The foot area is fully
reinforced and we have a range of cushioned socks are available for those who dance on
hard floors!
The Range, all prices are per pair and garters are only included where stated as opposed
to the images.

Suggested Method of Wearing Ferris Lay Rose Kilt Hose and Dance Socks
As the leg length is the same for all Hose and Socks some customers may need to
incorporate a turn down / fold to ensure that the top of the hose /sock shows the full
pattern. The illustrations below demonstrate the method recommended by Ferris Lay
Rose for incorporating the fold and tying the garter.
Fold over at the top of the calf ensuring evenly folded.
Tie the garter loosely,
ensuring the “knot” is flat and not tight as it is not required for support.
Alternatively a fold may be made to show a double fold at the top of the sock

All sock sizes stated in this brochure are men’s UK shoe sizes, the table below gives

accordance with the chart below unless stated otherwise within the brochure.
The approximate length of all Kilt Hose and Scottish Dance Socks is 1820inches (457-508mm), illustrated by dimension “B” below
The majority of Kilt Hose and Scottish Dance Socks have a coloured
thread linking the toe to the foot that denotes the size, these are shown in the
chart below, please check this thread colour upon receipt of any order.

Laundry and Sock Care Guidelines
Please take good care of your socks, they should then provide you with plenty of use.
Ensure your socks are kept in a moth free environment.
For convenience the majority of the socks in our range are machine washable in a wool
wash with a maximum temperature of 40oc, but please ensure you check individual
packaging/product details.
Our simple guidelines are:-
Turn socks inside out before washing.
Use a 40oc wool wash programme.
Use a wool friendly detergent – avoid other detergents as they may contain bleaching
agents.
Only use a gentle spin programme.
Under no circumstances tumble dry or expose to any heat source as this is likely to cause
shrinkage.
To dry, pull sock to approximate shape and air dry, preferably using a sock former.
Ensure fully dried before storing.

Illustrations and Colour Reproduction
The colour range for each style is shown on the relevant page for that style. The colours
in the brochure are primarily for identification purposes only and represent the colours as
accurately as possible within the limits of the reproduction methods used.
Stock Availability
Ferris Lay Rose will whenever possible supply socks from their own stock, but subject to
demand and as some items are hand made, may have to wait upon manufacturers
deliveries. In these circumstances the customer will be informed as soon as possible of
anticipated delivery.
Delivery Methods
Currently we can only offer one delivery method unless agreed in writing with Ferris Lay
Rose. Please note that the estimated delivery times are providing that the product is in
stock. We endeavour to despatch your order within 7 days but please allow 28 days for
delivery. A customer has the right to withdraw from an order up to the point of dispatch
except where hand made items are specifically produced for that customer (Consumer
Protection (contracts concluded by Means of Distance Communications)Regulations 2000)
UK Standard Delivery £4.00
Royal Mail is used for Standard deliveries and generally takes 2-3 days from the day of
despatch.
Free delivery is provided for orders over £75 (UK Mainland only).
International Delivery
We regret that at this point in time we are unable to guarantee International deliveries.
Should you require products to be delivered anywhere other than the UK mainland,
please contact us with your requirements.
Liability

Making a Purchase
Currently we are unable to accept internet orders, or payments other than by Cheque,
these are areas we expect to change in the near future. Orders should be made by
completing an order form (download online or at the back of this brochure) and send with
your cheque (made payable to Ferris Lay Rose) to Ferris Lay Rose, 6 Little Orchard Close,
Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire. WD5 0LQ. No orders can be accepted unless paid for in full
unless otherwise agreed in writing by Ferris Lay Rose.
When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your
order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance
of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you notification or an
invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case a mistake has been made in
pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a
particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always
contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.
If you do wish to check the availability of any item then please contact us and we will be
happy to advise. In the event of an item being out of stock we will advise you of a
delivery date and whether there may be a suitable alternative.

Prices
All prices shown are in the UK sterling, and are correct at the time of production of any
literature. In the event of circumstances beyond our control such as changes in taxation
rates (e.g. VAT) and inflationary cost increases, prices may change up or down. In these
unlikely circumstances we reserve the right to amend prices accordingly at any time until
the purchase is complete. We will advise you before accepting your order of any change
to the advertised price.
Contract
No contract to supply is created by any Ferris Lay Rose literature or website information
and orders will only be created when Ferris Lay Rose notify the customer that their order
request has been accepted.

Exchange and Returns Policy
We hope that any Ferris Lay Rose product you purchase is satisfactory; however we do
offer an exchange service. We request that you return the product to us within 7 days of
receipt with its labels attached and in the original packing i.e. in a saleable condition.
We reserve the right to refuse a refund or exchange where goods are not returned in a
saleable condition or may incur a handling/cleaning fee. As some items pick up
dust/fluff/pet hair easily we ask that you ensure they are kept and folded in a clean
environment.
Please enclose a letter/ note advising us of the following information to ensure we can
deal with your return:-The Reason for returning, Return address, Original order number
and a Contact telephone number
If a product needs to be returned for an exchange or refund and the order received free
postage, Ferris Lay Rose reserve the right to deduct the postage costs from any refund. If
an item is forgotten and is not included in the returns parcel Ferris Lay Rose are unable
to provide a refund until the goods are returned.
