Stewart was born in Bartow, Florida and
currently resides in Haines City, Lake Hamilton, Florida. His father, James Sr., was
a motocross enthusiast and introduced his
son to the sport at the age of three. Stewart
entered his first motocross race when he was
four years old.

On Saturday night, James Stewart’s 48th
win tied him with Ricky Carmichael for second on the all-time supercross wins list. Even
one win in a professional motocross is an incredible feat.
Battling the best
riders in the world
across a grueling
track filled with
obstacles purposebuilt to stand in
your way is challenging enough, trying to
cross checkers first is nearly insurmountable.
Many a rider will go through their entire pro
career without a single W to their name. All
of which makes each of the following records
downright ridiculous:

R
icky Carmichael (born November 27,
1979 in Clearwater, Florida) is a racer
known for his success in Motocross. His
unrivaled successes in the sport of Motocross have given him the nickname "The GOAT";
standing for Greatest of All Time.

T
his record combines motocross and supercross wins. Ricky
Carmichael’s historic 150 may never fall,
considering
no other rider is
even
in the
triple
digits. If
a rider
were to
ever reach the 100 mark (which is
absolutely absurd), they would still
only be two-thirds of the way to
Carmichael’s record.
4
his may seem like a Carmichael-heavy list, but
the man is nicknamed
the “Greatest of All
Time” for a reason. Back at a
mud-soaked
Spring Creek national in 2007,
Ricky Carmichael lapped every single rider on the track on his way to
the most dominant single moto
performance, ever.

T
his record, shared
by Ricky Carmichael
and James Stewart, is
literally unbeatable in
the current motocross
series because there are only 24 motos a year. Yes,
that means each of them won every single moto in a
season. And since a perfect season just isn’t good
enough sometimes, Carmichael actually did it twice,
in 2002 and 2004. James would later repeat Carmichael’s feat in 2008.

Jeremy McGrath (born November 19, 1971 in
San Francisco, California) is one of the most popular American Motocross/Supercross champions
in the history of the sport. He was most active in
the 1990s earning the title the "King of Super-
cross." His tricks during jumps on the supercross
track, the most famous of which he called the
"Nac Nac", helped spawn the sport of freestyle
motocross.

M
cGrath was AMA Pro Athlete of the Year Award in
1996. Still competitive in Motorcycle racing, he has tried
his hand in many types of motorcycle competition. Lately
he has expanded into off-road trucks in the Pro 2WD division of the LOORS Series and occasionally tries his hand
at stock car racing. McGrath lives in Southern California
with his wife Kim and daughters Rhowan and Bergen.
McGrath has the privilege of being the first rookie ever to
win the AMA 250cc Supercross Championship, in 1993.

hat’s right, James and
Ricky Carmichael are now
tied for 2nd with 48, but
the leader, Jeremy
McGrath, has 72. That’s a 24-win
spread, meaning that even if James
won every race for the rest of this
season and next, he would only tie
McGrath’s record.

arty Tripes (born June 29, 1956 in San Diego, California)
was a leading AMA motocross and Supercross rider of the
1970s and early 1980s. He is remembered for winning the Super Bowl of Motocross at the Los Angeles Coliseum in July
1972, just a few weeks after turning 16. That race was considered the first true stadium Supercross race in America.

n 1974, the first Supercross in America was held
in the L.A. Coliseum. Dubbed the “Superbowl of
Motocross,” the race attracted the sport’s top
racers to come try out the new style of stadium
racing. A fresh-faced boy by the name of Marty
Tripes showed up and won the damn race, only 10
days after turning 16 years old. Since AMA rules dictate that a rider must be at least 16 before turning
pro, there is an incredibly small window to beat
Marty’s record.
