Yunnie Park continues to thrill
audiences in the lyric soprano
repertoire.
Ms. Park’s 2016 season will open with the role of Gilda
RIGOLETTO with Martha Cardona Opera and the title-role ORFEO
ED EURIDICE with Opera in the Heights, Houston, Texas. Ms.
Park will revisit Gilda RIGOLETTO this fall with Wichita Grand
Opera.
Other engagments include her debut with the Wichita Grand
Opera as Liu TURANDOT, Adina L’ELISIR D’AMORE with Martina
Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance in New York City, her
international debut in Pesaro, Italy as Mimi LA BOHÈME,
preceded by her professional operatic debut in New York City
as Magda LA RONDINE.
Ms. Park has participated in the
prestigious Caramoor Festival covering the role of Gilda and
singing the role of Giovanna RIGOLETTO and performances with
University of Arizona’s Opera Theatre include Violetta LA
TRAVIATA and the title-role SUOR ANGELICA. In the fall of
2012 Yunnie was a selected soloist invited to perform at
Carnegie Hall in the University of Arizona’s Collegiate Honors
Recital.

Howard Arman
Howard Arman is an English conductor whose
repertoire encompasses opera, major
symphonic repertoire and choral work
spanning four centuries. He is the
recipient of the 1996 Handel Music Prize
of the Handel Festival, Halle, where he
has conducted numerous works of Georg
Frideric Handel. Until the 2015/16 season
he served as the Principal Conductor of
the Theater and Philharmonie Thüringen and
as the General Music Director for the
Luzerner Theater.
Howard Arman studied at the Trinity College of Music. He first
worked with leading British ensembles, but moved to Austria
and Germany in 1981. Arman has conducted (among others) the
radio choirs of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk, the
Südwestrundfunk, the Österreichischer Rundfunk and the RIAS
Kammerchor. From 1983 to 2000 he was the leader of the
Salzburger Bach-Chor and served as the director and artistic
leader of the MDR-Rundfunkchor, the choir of the
Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR). He was general music director
of Theater and Philharmonie Thüringen for the 2010/2011 season
and musical director of the Luzerner Theater for three years
from the 2011/12 season. Presently, Maestro Arman is the Chief
Conductor of the Bayerischer Rundfunk Chor.

Darren Stokes
American bass-baritone Darren K.
Stokes is an artist of exceptional
vocal ability.
An alumnus of the
distinguished Ryan Opera Center of
the Lyric Opera of Chicago, he has
had the pleasure of performing with
prominent opera companies and
orchestras throughout the US.
Mr.
Stokes’ 2016 engagements began with
his New York City Opera mainstage
debut as Sciarrone in the company’s
inaugural production of TOSCA at the
Rose Theater, Lincoln Center.
His
relationship with City Opera began in
2015 as Escamillo CARMEN, a production which has toured
throughout Europe and which will tour again in 2016. During
the summer of 2016 he joins the Barkhymer Tour for
performances throughout Germany as Crown PORGY AND BESS. In
the fall he continues performing PORGY AND BESS in Ithaca,
NY. On the concert platform, his 2016 appearances include
Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem with the Buffalo
Philharmonic and Berlioz’s Roméo et Juliette with the Richmond
Symphony. Future engagements include his Toledo Opera debut
as Figaro LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and a return to the Buffalo
Philharmonic for Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem.
Mr. Stokes has had the pleasure of performing with prominent
opera companies throughout the US, including Lyric Opera of
Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera,
Seattle Opera, Dallas Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Boston Lyric
Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, Opera Theater of Saint Louis,
Opera Saratoga (Lake George Opera), Opera Memphis, San Antonio
Opera, Indianapolis Opera, Eugene Opera and Sarasota Opera.
Orchestras and orchestral festivals with whom he has appeared
include the Ravinia Festival (Chicago Symphony Orchestra),
Cleveland Orchestra (both in Cleveland and at New York’s
historic Carnegie Hall), Cincinnati May Festival, Grant Park
Music Festival, Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Buffalo
Philharmonic Orchestra, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Virginia
Symphony Orchestra. Among the distinguished conductors with
whom Mr. Stokes has worked include James Conlon, John DeMain,
Robert Spano, Franz Welser-Möst, Louis Langrée, Sir Andrew
Davis, Jane Glover and Emmanuelle Haïm.

Edyta Kulczak
Mezzo-Soprano Edyta Kulczak commands a distinguished position
among the world’s foremost classical singers and has been
hailed as a “Diamond of passion in the setting of elegance”
(Montecito Journal Santa Barbara, 2000). Ms. Kulczak is a
resident performer of the Metropolitan Opera since the Grand
Finals of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions
(1999). It was at the Met that she made her debut as Flora in
La Traviata (2003) and since then has appeared in many
productions including Aida, Ägyptische Helena, Carmen, La
Forza del Destino, Die Frau ohne Schatten, The Gambler, Lucia

Lauren Easton
Australian mezzo-soprano Lauren Easton is
currently establishing an exciting young career firmly
centered in the UK. A highlight of her career has been her
ongoing relationship with the Glyndebourne Festival, which
began in 2011 when she made her Festival debut as Magdalena in
Sir David McVicar’s new production of DIE MEISTERSINGER VON
NÜRNBERG. Further roles with the Festival and its Touring
Opera include Amarella THE YELLOW SOFA (Julian Phillips),
Sandman HANSEL AND GRETEL, Bat / Chair L’ENFANT ET LES
SORTILÈGES, Dryade ARIADNE AUF NAXOS (Katharina Thoma new
production), Flora LA TRAVIATA (Tom Cairns new production),
and Lucretia RAPE OF LUCRETIA.
In her native Australia, Ms. Easton’s performance activity
included appearances with the Australian Pops Orchestra and
the Song Company, Australia’s premier six-voice a cappella
ensemble. A formidable prizewinner and scholarship recipient,
she was able to continue her studies at the prestigious Wales
International Academy of Voice in Cardiff, under the guidance
of renowned Welsh tenor Dennis O’Neill.
During her period of study in Cardiff, Ms. Easton was a semifinalist for the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme of
London’s Royal Opera House Covent Garden and was the mezzosoprano soloist for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at the 2010
World Expo in Shanghai, China.

Michael Bracegirdle
Winner of the Emmy Destinn Award for Young
Singers and a graduate of Durham
University, Michael Bracegirdle first
qualified as a Chartered Accountant and
went on to work as a Finance Director in
industry. In 2003 he gave up his business
career to further his vocal studies at the
Royal Northern College of Music.
As a prize-winner at the Opera Competition and Festival with
Mezzo Television, Hungary, he made his New York opera début as
Judge Danforth THE CRUCIBLE with Dicapo Opera Theatre, a
performance he repeated at the National Theatre, Szeged.
Having made his English National Opera début in the role of
First Armed Man THE MAGIC FLUTE, Michael Bracegirdle has since
returned as Tamino THE MAGIC FLUTE and has appeared as Fourth
Esquire PARSIFAL whilst also covering the title role. With
Opéra de Limoges he appeared as the Prince L’AMOUR DES TROIS
ORANGES and has appeared as Laca JENŮFA with Opéra de Rennes,
Limoges and Reims.

Alexander test
Alexander Boldachev was born in
St. Petersburg in 1990. From the
age of five, having mastered the
piano and the harp, Alexander
began his concert activity and
at the same time, he wrote his
first work as a composer.
In 1997 he joined the class of Harp (Karina Maleeva) and
composition (Svetlana Lavrova) at the St. Petersburg
Conservatory. At the age of nine, Alexander started his
international career playing the Haendel Harp Concerto with
the State Orchestra of Lithuania. In 2005 he entered the
Graduate School of Arts Zurich (Switzerland), where he studied
Harp with Catherine Michel, Composition with Mathias
Shtaynauer and Conducting with Mark Chisocci. He furtherly
improved his skills under the guidance of Yana Boushkova,
Xavier de Maistre, Marielle Nordmann, Natalia Shameeva, Susann
McDonald, Skaila Kanga.

the comedic roles in opera, operetta and
musical-theatre.
Mr. Wanko worked for 10
seasons at the New York City Opera at Lincoln
Center performing Leporello DON GIOVANNI,
Sacristan TOSCA, Dr. Bartolo LE NOZZE DI
FIGARO among numerous other roles. He made
his debut with the New York Philharmonic in
concert performances of TOSCA conducted by
Lorin Maazel.
Mr. Wanko has performed Dulcamara L’ELISIR
D’AMORE with Opera Santa Barbara, Opera Grand Rapids, Lake
George Opera & The Mississippi Opera.
He has performed &
covered the title role in GIANNI SCHICCHI with the Utah
Symphony & Opera, New York City Opera and Opera East Texas.
In addition he has performed Dr. Bartolo in IL BARBIERE DI
SIVIGLIA with the Utah Symphony & Opera.
Mr Wanko has
recently returned to Utah Opera in 2015 as the Sacristan TOSCA
and in 2016 for Baron Zeta THE MERRY WIDOW.
Mr. Wanko and his wife renowned soprano Theresa Santiago have
performed duet concerts for the Volkswagen Corporation in
Hamburg, Germany, the Matinee Musicale in Cincinnati,
Cosmopolitan Club NYC, and Clayton Opera House. His European
debut took place in Lucca, Italy, as Don Magnifico LA
CENERENTOLA, followed by the Barga Music Festival. Mr. Wanko
debuted at Carnegie Hall with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
Other companies with which Mr. Wanko has appeared include the
Michigan Opera Theatre, Kentucky Opera, Knoxville Opera,
Anchorage Opera and the Austin Lyric Opera.
Mr. Wanko is also a frequent performer of Gilbert & Sullivan
repertoire throughout the US in such roles as Ko-Ko THE
MIKADO, Major-General PIRATES OF PENZANCE and Sir Joseph
Porter H.M.S. PINAFORE.
Portions of his acclaimed 2010
performance of Ko-Ko in The Mikado at Michigan Opera Theatre
are featured in a documentary about Detroit entitled Detropia
(2012 winner at the Sundance Film Festival among other
numerous awards and critical praise).
Michael has also
recently performed with his wife and daughter in the
nationally renowned Riverdale Children’s Theatre as Mr. Bumble
in OLIVER and FDR in ANNIE.
Patrick Miller
Patrick Miller made his Lyric Opera of
Chicago debut as Arturo LUCIA DI
LAMMERMOOR during the 2003-04 season,
going on to create the role of Dino (the
groom) in the premiere of A WEDDING,
composed by William Bolcom and directed
by Robert Altman the follow season.
Other honours that season included
appearing as soloist in Lyric Opera’s
50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee Concert.
Since making his professional debut as Camille in FargoMoorhead Opera’s 2000 production of THE MERRY WIDOW, Patrick
has triumphed in productions of DON GIOVANNI with Seattle
Opera and Boston Baroque, SUSANNAH and EUGENE ONEGIN with
Virginia Opera, MADAMA BUTTERFLY with Lyrique-en-Mer Festival,
Belle-Ile, France, THE BARTERED BRIDE with Opera Boston, THE
MIKADO in St. Louis, Arizona, and Indianapolis, A MIDSUMMER
NIGHT’S DREAM with Chicago Opera Theater, THE MAGIC FLUTE with
Orlando Opera and Lyric Opera of San Antonio, LA TRAVIATA with
Lyric Opera of San Antonio, DIALOGUES OF THE CARMELITES with
Glimmerglass Opera, and DON GIOVANNI and DIE FLEDERMAUS with

in Theatre de la Jeune Lune’s Minneapolis production of THE

the tenor lead in Ricky Ian Gordon’s RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY with

Cavaradossi TOSCA(opposite his wife in the title role) with
Syracuse Opera. Last season included a return to Opera on the
James to sing Rinuccio GIANNI SCHICCHI well as tenor soloist
for Bach’s Magnificat at Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New
York City. Last season Patrick created two new roles. In
March, he sang the leading role of John Turner in Emerson
Eads’ THE COLOUR OF GOLD with Opera Fairbanks, and then in May
created the role of Clark Griffith in Daniel Sonenberg’s THE
SUMMER KING with American Opera Projects. This season included
a debut with Minnesota Orchestra and an exciting debut with
Utah Festival Opera as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables.
Patrick has worked closely with the leading composers of our
time, creating and performing works by composers such as:
Dominick Argento, William Bolcom, Carlisle Floyd, Ricky Ian
Gordon, Libby Larsen, Stephen Paulus and, most recently, Kirke
Mechem’s JOHN BROWN with Lyric Opera Kansas City.
Equally at home on the concert stage, Mr. Miller’s oratorio
and concert performances include works of Bach, Beethoven,
Bernstein, Britten, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert and Lehar.
Elizabeth Beers Kataria
Described

“refulgent
toned”
and
“impressive,” soprano Elizabeth Beers Kataria,
a two-time Liederkranz Foundation Wagner
Division Vocal Competition finalist and
recipient of a study grant from the Wagner
Society of New York, is poised on the brink of
an exciting career. Performances include the
title-role Ariadne auf Naxos with St.
Petersburg Opera, a reduced Ring Cycle with
Opera Louisiane as Brünnhilde, and Senta Der
fliegende Holländer with Utah Festival Opera, a
role that she also performed opposite Greer
Grimsley with Opera Carolina.
Elizabeth
recently made her debut in the title-role Manon
Lescaut with Mobile Opera.
Her debut performance as Senta in Der fliegende Holländer was
hailed as having been “sung with technical brilliance and
breathtaking control…”; “UFOMT newcomer Elizabeth Beers
Kataria is stunning as Senta. Her soprano voice is lustrous
and exquisitely expressive in the Dutchman’s ballad that is
the core of the opera’s second act. Ms. Kataria is also a
gifted actress…” Her appearance as the title-role Ariadne auf
Naxos, she was “in lustrous voice, her big scene on the purity
of death, Es gibt ein Reich, emerging in gorgeous warmth and
eloquent phrasing. This was richly dramatic singing.”
