The Adirondack World of Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait
April 1 – September 1
Few painters are so closely associated with images of the
Adirondacks as Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait. His iconic paintings
helped create and perpetuate the vision of the Adirondack
wilderness as a sportsman’s paradise. This exhibition
has been organized by the Adirondack Museum.

Madame Butterfly: Highlights
from the Metropolitan Opera

See a number of exotic costumes, sketches,
and photographs ranging from 1907 to
the present day, representing highlights
from several of the Metropolitan
Opera’s many varied productions

Companions: Animals in
American Indian Art

Native American artists celebrate animals
as powerful companions on the journey

North American Indian art assembled from
the world-renowned Eugene and Clare
Thaw Collection of American Indian Art.

L.F. Tantillo Paints
New York History
April 1 – December 31

Len Tantillo brings the past to life
through his remarkable, historically accurate paintings.
Much of his work celebrates maritime themes, focusing
on little-known subject matter depicting the early
history of New York State and the Hudson River.
Everyday Heroes: Ralph Fasanella’s
Paintings of American Life
April 1 – May 26
Fasanella’s folk art paintings portray the people and
places he observed while growing up in New York
City. These intricate and colorful paintings from
the Fenimore’s collection range from portrayals
of monumental events in our country’s history to
detailed observations of America’s working class.

Lake & Village: Cooperstown’s People & Places
April 1 – June 8

Photographs, prints, and paintings hold intriguing details
of the people and places of Cooperstown. Venture into the
Village’s past and present with artists and photographers
such as Milo Stewart, Michele Harvey, and iconic images
from the extensive Smith and Telfer photographic collection.

Madame Butterfly’s World: Woodblock
Prints of a Changing Japan
June 21 – September 21
Inspired by Glimmerglass Festival’s 2014 production
of Madame Butterfly, this exhibition of Japanese
woodblock prints highlights the changing world in
which Butterfly lived. The collection features prints that
represent “traditional” Japan, as well as those showing
the influence of Western culture. Sponsored in part by
Dr. Christopher Tadgell and Lady Juliet Tadgell.

Winslow Homer: The Nature and Rhythm of
Life, from the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie
June 6 – August 24
Explore rarely seen works by Winslow Homer, considered
one of the foremost painters in 19th-century America. The
exhibition features over 23 original oil paintings and delicate
watercolors collected by Bartlett Arkell, the first President of
the Beech-Nut Packing Company. This marks the first time these
exceptional works will be displayed as a complete collection.
This exhibition was organized by the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie and is
made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support
of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. It is also
sponsored in part by The Morgan McReynolds Group at Morgan Stanley.

Annual Benefit Horse Show

Iroquois Farm Showgrounds

The show offers equestrians the opportunity
to test their horsemanship skills and features
a range of classes for beginners through open
riders. In addition, the Annual Patrons’ Luncheon
will be offered at noon. Participants will enjoy
a delicious, formal lunch coupled with ringside

the state as they share their historical scholarship through
documentaries, performances, papers, exhibits, and
websites. Many presentations are open to the public.

INTERPRETER PROGRAM
Spend a Summer in our Historic Village July-August
Boys and girls ages 12-14 can apply now for a summer they’ll never
forget. This competitive apprenticeship program for young people
provides a special opportunity to learn a craft, gain leadership
experience, and develop presentation skills. Young Interpreters
work one day a week, for eight weeks, in selected sites including
the Blacksmith Shop, Lippitt Farmhouse, Printing Office, Pharmacy,
Children’s Barnyard, and the General Store. Applications are due
