Teams organized with volunteer coaches. Program held at the West Park Soccer Fields. Games are played on Saturdays and teams practice one day during the week. Games may be scheduled on a weeknight if needed. VOLUNTEER COACHES ARE NEEDED! Learn the fundamentals of T-ball for boys and girls. A great opportunity with games and instruction blended together. This league offers a great combination of instruction and league games. Games are played on Monday and Wednesday evenings at East Park. Cost: $37 Start Smart Soccer, a program of the National Alliance for Youth Sports, teaches children ages 3 - 5, the basic motor skills and sports mechanics necessary to play organized soccer while they work oneon-one and spend quality time with their parent. Classes are held twice a week for three weeks on Tuesday & Thursday at East Park. Class times: 5:00 p.m., 5:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Limited class sizes. Join The Active people as we travel aboard the Cleveland Indians Fan Bus to Progressive Field as our Tribe play the Seattle Mariners . The bus will depart from East Recreation Center, 1101 Prospect Street, at 10:00 a.m. We will be seated in the All-Inclusive Club Seating Section. Registration will continue until all camps are full. All camps are FREE for Elyria residents. Registrations can be faxed, mailed or dropped off at our Main Office. Registration forms are available on the web, at all Recreation Centers and available from partner agencies. Each individual will be allowed to sign up for no more than two (2) camps. Camps will include a mid-morning snack, hot lunch and afternoon snack. Most camps will include swimming and/or an offsite field trip. Pool may close due to inclement weather, low attendance or unforeseen circumstances. LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION CLASS This American Red Cross class is for ages 15 and older. Successful completion will allow participants to receive a two year certification in Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR/AED. All participants must pass the prerequisite swim test administered on May 26. This test consists of a continuous 300 yard swim (front crawl and breast stroke with proper technique required), retrieval of a ten pound weight from a depth of 9 feet; and two minutes of treading water not using arms. Internet access for offsite instruction is needed. Attendance is mandatory to complete course. Swim Test ($10 Non refundable fee) will be held May 26, 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.; On site Instruction is May 28 3:30-8:00 p.m.; May 30 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; May 31 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Registration and Payment Due May 21. Stroke school will focus on Freestyle, backstroke as well as an introduction to Breaststroke and beginning starts and turns. Ages: 6 and older North Pool—Session 3 July 27-August 5 10:40-11:20 a.m. Cost: $50 Non-Resident: $55 JUNIOR INSTRUCTOR TRAINING A training program designed for youth 12-15 years old who are willing to become an assistant to the instructors during our swim lesson program. Must be able to swim two lengths of pool unassisted. Registration and parent signature required. Must attend all training held at East Pool to help with lesson programs.
