Leave Less Behind ANNUAL HOLIDAY COLLECTION SCHEDULE ANNUAL “FREE” COMPOST GIVEAWAY Residents of Placentia are leaving less behind by recycling their yard waste each week rather than mixing it in with their trash. The average American generates four to six pounds of trash daily and of that, one third is yard waste. Separating yard waste into the appropriate collection container makes it possible for it to be processed as alternate daily cover or compost. It is also a vital part of stabilizing disposal collection cost and helping the City comply with state requirements to divert 50 percent of its waste stream. In appreciation for the community’s ongoing efforts to recycle its yard waste, Placentia Disposal and the City of Placentia host an annual compost giveaway. This is just their way of saying “thank you” to the residents for a job well done! To take advantage of the free compost just show up with your container on the following date at the following location: El Dorado High School Saturday, March 10, 2007 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. or until it’s gone! The pieces should fit easily in your container. 3. Place your BROWN container at the curb along with your other containers on your regular collection day. *If you’re unable to cut up your tree and put it in a brown container, place the tree at the curb for pickup on your regular collection day from December 26 until January 6.
