our Institutions are living up to the objectives for which they were set up. SDMIMD
which was set up 20 years back has gained considerable confidence from corporate
and academic circles alike. Over the years the emphasis laid on academic rigour and
faculty excellence has put the Institute in the list of top B schools in the country.

This year as we celebrate our twenty years of 'honouring a commitment', we would
like to place on record our gratitude to our well-wishers and partners who have made
it possible the long journey traversing our way from being just a B-school in Mysore
to one of the top forty B-schools in India.
At SDMIMD, the curriculum has been constantly redesigned and restructured to
make it relevant to the needs of the rapidly changing business environment. Over the
past 20 years, following the Dharmasthala credo, we have constantly endeavoured to
develop business managers of high-quality, who are proficient in all necessary skills
needed to be corporate leaders of stature. At the same time, with the thrust we lay on

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development
(SDMIMD), ranked among the top Business Schools in India, is located at the
foot of Chamundi Hills in the heritage city of Mysore in Karnataka, 140
kilometers from Bangalore. Its charming campus has won architectural and
landscape awards, and provides a great setting for learning and germination of
managerial intellect. The institute is promoted by the Shri Dharmasthala
Manjunatheshwara Educational (SDME) Trust, a much admired non-profit
educational trust that runs over 40 recognized educational institutions in

Library
SDMIMD Library is known as the Information
Resource Centre which supports teaching, learning and
research and which is the heart of the academic centre
with an aim to provide 'Anytime, Anywhere Access' to
information and knowledge.
SDMIMD Library is a repository of printed as
well as electronic resources which include:
books, journals, databases, AVs, CDs/DVDs, ebooks, e-journals, reports, course materials, case
studies, conference proceedings, training
manuals, etc. Currently the library holds over
12000 books, 140 print journals, provides access
to 2100 e-journals, electronic corporate
databases, newspapers and business magazines,
abstractive databases, database pertaining to case
studies and additionally, 120 multimedia
resources.
SDMIMD Library has single click access to all
Harvard Business School published materials.
The Library is approved by the Union Ministry
of Human Resource Development as a Training
Centre. The Graduates and Diploma holders in
the area of Library and Information Science are
trained on the information management and
services. The SDMIMD holds institutional
membership with prominent libraries in

Efficient managers are those who can use technology to mould
their businesses successfully. With continuously upgraded
hardware, software and communication facilities, SDMIMD is
taking the face of management into a new era.
Fully air-conditioned and ability to serve 90 patrons Computer
Center is extending its IT enabled service both on and off the
campus. All students are required to use a Laptop for course
work. The Institute facilitates students in procuring their own
Laptops.
As part of its continued endeavour to ensure that its students are
work ready from day one of final placements, SDMIMD will
shortly become a member of the Global SAP University Alliance
Programme. Complete access to SAP R/3 will then be available
on 24x7 basis for faculty and students, with SAP functionalities
integrated into various courses both for concepts and
methodology. Apart from this, students and faculty will benefit
from access to plug and play material, research projects and
research funding.
Gym & Yoga
Healthy people make organizations healthy. In the modern global
environment, managers need to play multiple roles, which call for
multiple skills. To efficiently execute organizational roles, one has
to have good physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual
health. Thus, Health precedes everything else. Keeping this in
view, SDMIMD has introduced Wellness Management as a
Compulsory Preparatory Course for the first year students and as a
2 Credit Course for the second year students. The program will
run through the whole year and the credits are taken into account
during the 6th trimester. A well designed and equipped "Wellness
Center" at the campus offers Yoga, Aerobics, Hi Tech Gym, Table
Tennis and Shuttle Badminton. At the outdoor, the campus offers
Basket Ball and Volley Ball courts.

Hostel & Mess
The SDMIMD hostel is indeed a home away from home. Fully
furnished single rooms, lounge/study area, recreational
facilities, and a common dining area create a mini world of its
own. The facilities in the hostel include broadband internet
access, housekeeping, dry cleaning and laundry services.
The SDMIMD Mess is student-managed. The Students decide
on the menu, fixed for a week. It caters to around four hundred
people, and mixes a variety of North and South Indian
vegetarian cuisine. SDMIMD Mess makes the painful process
of going from home-made food to the hostel mess very easy.

International Tie-ups

Students of SDMIMD have the enriching educational opportunity of participating in foreign
exchange programmes. SDMIMD has collaborated with high-profile, international management
institutes of repute to conduct Student Exchange Programmes every year for an understanding of
management from an international perspective.
SDMIMD has Student Exchange Progams with the Mays School of Business, Texas A&M
University, USA and MBA Centre, Global Management Education Institute, Shanghai
University, China. These student exchange programs enable students to understand each other's
countries, business practices and culture. This gives students an edge when it comes to
international opportunities.
Every year, students can opt to study one term at either of the above Institutes. Such students are
put through a selection process, which also includes an interview. Various parameters like
academic performance, performance in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities are taken into
consideration to draw up the final list of candidates to study at either Shanghai or Texas.
In 2013, students were taken on a study cum interaction tour to Kaulalumpur, at the University of
Nottingham, Malaysia campus.
In 2014 SDMIMD proposes to have a tie-up with British University in Dubai and the University of
Nottingham, Malaysia Campus for students and faculty exchange and joint research projects.

SDMIMD is a unique management institution that has pioneered a philosophy of management education that
is Indian in ethos and global in relevance. Being known for its flagship program – Post Graduate Diploma in
Management (PGDM) has widened the scope by offering Doctoral Research Program in Management Studies.
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Research Center in Management Studies (SDM RCMS), the research
unit of SDMIMD has been recognized as Research Center by the University of Mysore, Mysore and the
Tumkur University, Karnataka. The center extends the professional guidance and assistance to the research
aspirants in the area of Management Studies and the successful research works will be awarded the doctoral
degree by the recognized University. The objective of this center is to promote a variety of research and
scholarly initiatives in the field of management. It is envisaged that, SDM RCMS would help in growing the
intellectual capital, not only within the institute, but also provide SDMIMD with a platform to broad base their
research initiatives at various levels in times to come.
SDM RCMS would be promoting the following activities in a phased manner to promote the intellectual growth
process within the institute:
— Extending professional guidance and assistance to the research aspirants in the area of Management Studies
— In- house publications by faculty of the institute. Joint publications and research work by students and faculty
— Joint research work by SDM faculty with scholars from other institutions around the globe
— Invite other research scholars to collaborate with the institute for research in various cross and inter-
disciplinary areas of management science
— Become a designated center for doctoral work in management education by collaborating with various
Universities desirous of granting such status to this Center
— Conduct Faculty Development Workshops in the field of research methods and techniques for budding
scholars
— Establish links with bodies, like, UGC, AICTE, etc., for accessing grants for various workshops,
symposiums, and other research initiatives at the SDMIMD campus
— Encourage scholars to come and participate in national and international level conferences, seminars,
workshops, symposiums, roundtables, etc., to be held at SDMIMD.

Annual Leadership Talk
The Annual Leadership Series Talk 2013 was held on
January 28, 2013. Mr. Anil Sachdev, Founder and
CEO, Grow Talent Company Limited and School of
Inspired Leadership (SOIL), delivered the talk.
Foundation Day Lecture
To commemorate the founding of the Institute in 1993,
a new annual talk series has been initiated. The
Foundation Day lecture this year was delivered by
Dr. Devi Shetty, Founder and Chairman, Narayana
Hrudayalaya Group of Hospitals. The function was

Admissions Committee
'ANTS'
This is the most illustrious committee among the
students of SDMIMD. They get a feel of this
committee even while aspiring to be one among the
few out of numerous aspirants who get admission to
the institute. The committee is dedicated to attract
the best talent vying for a professional education in
Management. The committee is dedicated to
resolve queries by potential candidates vide online
forums. The committee works along with the
management of SDMIMD by communicating
various grievances and issues faced by the aspirants.
It acts as a bridge between the aspirants and
SDMIMD. It is a mirror of SDMIMD's legacy. Thus
the committee stands foremost in carrying forward
the legacy of SDMIMD by attracting suitable
candidates from a pool of talented aspirants.
Alumni Networking Team of SDMIMD, works
relentlessly towards fostering stronger ties between
the institute and its alumni. As a part of this, the
alumni are kept informed about the happenings in
the college. Initiatives are taken to develop the
bond with the alumni. 'Imprints', a special alumni
meet was organized during the year. The
committee is planning to launch a couple of
programs which will promote active participation
of the alumni in activities related to the institute.

Kalanubhav
The placement committee at SDMIMD is a team of
highly motivated students, mentored by faculty
members, who work towards achieving the goal of
obtaining the desired placement offers for the
students in terms of both profiles and organizations
to work with. In addition, the placement committee
plays an instrumental role in developing and
sustaining a mutually beneficial long term
relationship with the industry.
A committee born with the aim of imparting
awareness about Indian art forms, bringing cultural
awareness amongst the students of the college and
also to empower these art forms through events. The
main event being 'Drishti' where a special art form of
India is arranged in the college along with active
participation in any Indian art forms from the
students to keep the Indian art forms green and alive.
'The B-Street Buzz' Committee
The B-Street Buzz is an initiative by the students of
SDMIMD, which is published once in every
trimester. The aim of this newsletter is to introduce
the readers to the events and activities on the
campus. These events include guest lectures by
prominent visitors, initiatives driven by the Institute
and students, and updates of events & activities on
campus.
B-Street Buzz serves as a medium of continuous
int eract ion bet ween SDMIMD and it s
stakeholders.
CAL Committee
Centre for Advanced Learning (CAL) is a committee
which believes in balancing theoretical knowledge
with practical experience. As a part of helping hands
initiative, CAL is associated with government
schools where members of CAL and volunteers go
and teach the students and share their knowledge
under ‘Adopt and Nurture’ program. During the
year a Voluntary blood donation camp was
conducted wherein more than 150 students came
forward for the cause. CAL also organised an event
called 'THE BIG FIGHT' which witnessed a huge
participation from the students. CAL has many
more events coming up in the near future.

Dimensions Committee
GNOSIS Committee
“Dimensions” is the official magazine of SDMIMD.
It gives the students a proper platform to showcase
their writing skills and general interests other than
curricular topics. The cover story reflects the
contemporary issue and will be the most awaited
part of the issue to the readers. It also has interviews
from the business industry which will be of great
help to the reader to hone their skills and be
industry ready. Reviews of any two books are
included for catering to book lovers and help others
to start reading them. It also has articles written by
students on various and diverse topics which will
surely enhance the knowledge base of the reader.
On the whole, Dimensions will be a crisp copy to
enlighten a management student's horizon.
Gnosis is the common Greek noun for knowledge.
The tagline of Gnosis is Knowledge Uneclipsed. The
Gnosis Committee at SDMIMD arranges corporate
talks with the big names from the business world. It
also conducts fun and interesting management
games. Gnosis is a committee for people who are
passionate about learning beyond classrooms and
are willing to go that extra mile to encourage learning.
Some of the activities carried out by Gnosis are:

Finnacle Committee
Finnacle holds the Financial Backbone of SDMIMD. This committee basically encompasses the committee
members whose work entails publishing of weekly/daily news clips (Videos/audios/news scripts) related to
Finance on the college website. Conducts quizzes in the college so as to keep the students updated with
Financial Jargons and the where about. In 2012 Finnacle held an intra-college game 'FOREX' in which almost
100 students participated. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners. Recruitment Process basically
comprises of two rounds. First round is a Quiz; keen students enrol their names and generalized quiz related to
Finance and current affairs is conducted. The shortlisted students move to second round which is Personal
Interview. Students have to go through a rigorous interview conducted by the committee members. 6-8 students
are Finalized as the budding members.

Mess Committee
The Sports Committee manages sports activities at
SDMIMD. It conducts SPORTS DAY on 15th of
August every year, and other events like inter class
competitions in badminton, table tennis etc. The
committee also conducts a chess tournament at the
district level.
Mess committee members are the people who run
the college mess. Unlike many other colleges, here it
is believed that food is a major part of academics and
great importance is given to the food served.
Samprati Committee
Samprati is the event management committee in
SDMIMD. At the beginning of each academic year,
Samprati organizes “Khoj”, an event where the first
year students get a chance to showcase their talents by
participating in different competitions. It provides a
platform for the first year students to know each other
better through group activities. It organizes
“Abhigyaan”, which is one of the biggest events in the
SDMIMD calendar as it attracts undergraduate
students from the best colleges in South India and
gives them a peek into the life in a B-school through
various competitions. Samprati also tries to give a
great farewell to the second year students at the end of
their course by organizing the Farewell Day. As such,
Samprati makes an effort to make the life of the
students memorable and ensure that they will take
away great memories.
Mess committee people decide upon the Menu for
the week in advance after analysing the student needs
and market availability. They ensure that the right
food is served each day and throughout the year.
They also keep track of the mess bill. Apart from this,
they also conduct 2 major events at college:1) 15 days 15 states: - SDMIMD has a blend of
people from 21 states in it. This is a flagship event
conducted by the mess committee, where 15 days in
a year, students get to show off their talents in cooking
food of different states.
2) Food festival: - An opportunity to cook your own
food, sell them and keep the profit..!!

SDMites won 2nd prize for their video in ‘Anti-Drug
Ad Making Competition – Parivartan’ organized by
Sydenham (SIMSREE), Mumbai. They won the
prize by beating many teams including IIM
Kozhikode, MICA, IMT Nagpur, SIMC, ITM and
several others.
Paper presented at ‘National Conference on
Emerging Challenges for Sustainable Business’, at

The short film titled ‘The Missed Class’ on Gandhian
principles by SDMites has won the First Place in
Short Film Making Competition held at XIMBhubaneshwar. The team stood first amongst many

‘Envision 2012' conducted by XIM- Bhubaneswar.
Research paper entitled 'Movement marketing:
marketing 3.0 approach in Indian context’ won the

The core offering of the Institute is the two year mandatorily residential PGDM programme
approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The National Board of
Accreditation (NBA) has accredited this program for a period of three years with effect from 2011.

Lateral and Fresher Recruitment
Companies make a pre-placement presentation
(PPT) to provide an opportunity to the students to
seek clarity on the profile of the company, position
offered, remuneration package and other relevant
information.
The Institute does not have separate lateral and
fresher recruitment processes. Hence, both the
processes commence simultaneously and run
during the placement week of the Institute.
For effective communication, latest technical
equipment such as audio visual facilities, LCD
projector, tele conference and any other special
equipment can be made available on campus on
request. The campus also has video conferencing
facility.
Curriculum Vitae
The Institute follows a standard format for all the
students applying to various companies. A company
can place a request for the CVs in the Institute's format
or any other specific format, in hard or soft copies as
desired.

The slots for the companies shall be decided on the
basis of the following parameters:
i. Brand Name of the organization
ii. Profile
iii. Remuneration
iv. Previous Relationship (consistency in
recruitment from campus & number of offers)
v. Democratic Process - The students rank the
companies based on their prior knowledge and the
information gained through companies' PPTs.
Based on these rankings, job description and
compensation being offered, the participating
companies are allocated time slots during which
they can initiate the recruitment process.
Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs)
A pre-placement offer or PPO, post the summer
internship, is a much cherished job offer before final
placements. The firms can communicate to the
Institute their decision to offer the PPOs before the
Placement Week commences.
Final Job Offer
A Job Offer is considered to be valid only if the
Placement Office is in receipt of the written
communication of the same. Any form of verbal or
telephonic communication will not be considered as
job offers. The final offers for the respective candidate
will be announced only at the designated day/time slots.
Delay or failing to do so may result in the candidate
being placed in any other company. Appointment
letters for the selected candidate should be sent (in
duplicate) to the Placement Office within 20 days of the
job offer made on the campus. A candidate
acknowledges the job offer by the acceptance signature,
which shall then be informed to the company
concerned immediately.

hour. It is also well connected through roads. Every five minutes, luxury buses run between Mysore and Bangalore.
