Sixty-one percent of the baseball players earned a 3.0 GPA or better, up 1% from third quarter last year. Fifty percent of the player grades stayed the same or improved from last quarter, up 27 %. Other honor roll members are: 3.86 Sean Bowden Cade Conklin Caleb Seely 3.8 Jonah Harris 3.71 Chris Butcher 3.57 Steffen Jacobsen Riley Tindell ( Garrett Leeper ) The overall program GPA was 3.09. Grades by class were Seniors, 3.1; Juniors, 2.69; Sophomores, 3.14; and Freshmen, 3.36. SUMMER SCHEDULES Summer baseball schedules for Alpenrose Dairy American Legion, Jake’s Famous Crawfish “A” American Legion, and Jake’s/Wilson Jr. State D-2 teams are now available on the website, www.wilsonhsbaseball.com Welcome Tigard Post 158 as the new American Legion post for the teams. Wilson High School 11151 SW Vermont Portland OREGON 97219 503-916-5280 PANCAKE BREAKFAST Junior Jay Howell was the top ticket seller in the 31st annual pancake breakfast fund-raiser. His total was a new All-Time record for the event. Senior Jonah Harris (2nd-all time) finished second and sophomore Chase Howard (3rd-all time) finished third in ticket sales. The other salesmen prize winners were sophomore Evan Shreeve and junior Jonathan Lee. John Venables, Matt Harvison, Jack Williams, Garrett Leeper, Connor Japport, and Perry Taylor all had ticket sales of over $120. ALPENROSE DAIRY and MCDONALD’S—CAPITOL HWY donated items to the breakfast, and JOSHUA and ROUND TABLE PIZZA allowed us to hold this event in their restaurant. BARBUR FOODS let us store product for the breakfast. A special “thank you” to Will Whittlesey, who again, soliciated gift certificates, items, and cash for this fund-raiser, and Gayle Clopton for serving as hostess. ( Jay Howell ) TROJAN REPORT Varsity…Record 9-17, League, 9-6, 2nd place in PIL— Sandy, the eventual 5A State Champion defeated Wilson in the OSAA “play-in” game 3-0. Matt Harvison had the only Trojan hit…John Venables had four hits in 15-7 loss at McKay. Jonah Harris and Zach Wogan each had two RBI’s PIL Champion Madison won the last series. In Game 3, a five-run Senator seventh broke a 4-4 tie to win. Brendan Freeman and Perry Taylor had the only RBI’s…Venables allowed three unearned runs in five innings and had five K’s…In was all Wilson in Game 2 powered by Harris, Z. Wogan and Venables home runs. Evan Shreeve picked up the win in relief in the 13-6 win at Madison. Jackson Miller added three RBI’s…Matt Harvison had the only RBI in the Game 1 4-1 loss…Grant scored five runs in the fifth inning to win 5-4. Orlando Lorang, Miller and Harvison each had two hits…Cleveland won Game 3 6-4. Harris had three hits…Freeman singled home a run and Venables doubled home a run in the 10th inning to win Game 2, 8-7. Venables allowed one unearned run in four innings of ( Jonah Harris ) relief to get the win…Lorang had three hits and two RBI’s in Game 1 win. Venables earned the win and Jonathan Lee the save in the 8-7 win…Harris had four RBI’s in Game 3 Roosevelt win. Lee pitched five innings for the win… Liam Wogan had three RBI’s and Harvison picked up the win and Lukas Glass the save in Game 2…Venables had three RBI’s and struck out nine in Game 1 win…Z. Wogan had four RBI’s and Luca Mallon allowed no runs in threeplus innings of relief to earn the win in Game 3 win over Franklin…Harvison pitched the first complete game of the year to defeat Franklin in Game 2, 3-2. Michael Wagemann and Z. Wogan each had an RBI…Cole Conklin and Venables each had two hits in Game 1 loss. Alec MacDonald-Factor, Riley Tindell, and Tommy Harvison each had two RBI’s…Chase Howard earned the win in relief and Evan Charlone the save in 7-6 win over David Douglas. Tindell had three RBI’s…Noah Keough pitched a 1-0 shutout over Barlow… Sean Haxby had three RBI’s and Zach Madsen and Charlone had two hits each in 7-3 win over Roosevelt…Madsen (win) and Haxby (save) pitched the 5-4 win over LaSalle Prep Frosh and Shreeve had two RBI’s…Harvison had 15 K’s in 7-4 win over Grant. Nick Slenning and Haxby each had three hits…Slenning picked up the win over Lincoln, 6-4, in relief and added two hits…Madsen and Haxby each had two RBI’s in 13-8 loss versus Grant…Madsen (win) and Charlone (save) combined to defeat Franklin, 10-6… Harvison had a grand-slam home run and eight RBI’s in win over Jefferson…Tindell had four RBI’s in 12-0 win over Roosevelt…Ben Turker had the only hit in a 1-0 loss to Lincoln. JV-2…Record 16-10—Chris Butcher had six K’s in a 1-0 win over North Salem JV. Nat Gurnee had two hits and Garrett Leeper the only RBI…Cade Conklin had four RBI’s and Alex Sabo had nine K’s in 16-2 win over David Douglas… Conklin pitched the complete game win over Sunset, 4-3… ( Evan Shreeve ) Markus Downs and Caleb Seely each had two RBI’s in 14-4 over Scappoose…Keough and Downs each had two hits, and Leeper got the complete game win over Madison… Lake Oswego scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh after a rain delay to win, 2-1. Butcher had two hits… Zach Madsen had eight K’s in 8-6 win over Cleveland. Leeper and Butcher each had three hits…Charlie Bevins, Conklin, Leeper, Sabo and Seely had the only hits in a 19-0 loss to Lincoln…Leeper had two hits in 4-0 loss to Sunset in Game 1 and Leeper had three hits in Game 2 win, 5-3…Sabo and Seely combined to pitch a six-inning no-hitter against Benson. Chris Bowden, Bevins, and Leeper each had three hits …Bowden plated the winning run in the ninth inning to defeat Cleveland, 11-10. Sabo, Conklin, and Seely each had two hits. Gurnee added two RBI’s…Keough had the only hit and two RBI’s in 4-3 loss to Madison…Gurnee and Conklin had the only hits in 6-2 loss to Lincoln… Leeper had two hits and Gurnee and Conklin each had an RBI in loss to Grant, 4-3…Leeper’s triple in the sixth inning scored the winning run to defeat Benson, 8-7. Leeper also doubled earlier in the game and had three RBI’s. The doubleheader starts at 10am with the even-numbered alumni playing Alpenrose Dairy. The odd-numbered alumni will play game two. A no-host bar social will be held after the games at Toby Harris’ (89) Cider Mill/Fryer Tuck for alumni, family, and friends. GOLF TOURNAMENT Sunday, July 13 at 1PM, is the date for the annual shotgun golf scramble fundraiser at Meriwether National Golf Club in Hillsboro sponsored by Alpenrose Dairy and Bashor’s Team Athletics. A registration form link is available or you can find it on the website. FACILITY UPDATE A new tarp was purchased at the beginning of the season. Thanks to the outfield sign sponsors and others who donated money to help us buy this valuable product. GREAT FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY FOR BASEBALL Exciting News!
