TABLE OF CONTENTS
Since I started my career at the
YMCA 30 years ago, there’s nothing
I’ve known to be more life-shaping
than summer camp. Camping, like
many Y programs, is about learning
new skills, developing character
and making friends. In addition
to traditional and specialty camp
activities, we are uniquely devoted to
physical activity and STEAM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, the Arts
and Mathematics) education in each
and every one of our programs. Few
environments will foster your child’s
mind, body and spirit than at the Y.
WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT

Our counselors are comprehensively
screened and trained in CPR/First
Aid, emergency preparedness, abuse
and injury prevention, and other
safety measures. What’s more, they
are prepared to give your child a
well-rounded experience that they
will cherish for the rest of their lives.
Whether it’s through singing or
swimming, nature hikes or theatre,
YMCA counselors guide kids in
developing new interests, friends and
independence.
With over 160 years of experience
in nurturing the potential of
Metropolitan Washington youth,
the Y knows how to do it best! Give
your child a positive, adventurous
and educational summer by enrolling
them in our day or overnight camps.

We’re passionate about inspiring
healthier habits that kids carry through
life – and so are our partners! Build Our
Kids’ Success (BOKS) is an initiative of
the Reebok Foundation with the mission
to give kids a body and brain boost.
The YMCA has partnered with BOKS to
provide before-care activities combining
play, team games, physical activity and
short talks on nutrition, just like the Y’s
PHD program. The Y’s PHD program will
be offered in camp after care to keep
kids engaged and energized all day long.

LEADERSHIP/TEEN
At the Y, we help youth set and achieve their personal and
educational goals. They gain confidence as they recognize
the Y as a place where they belong and can feel comfortable
exploring new interests and passions. A unique
program designed especially for teenagers and
a careful balance of program components has
been created to foster creativity, adventure, peer
interaction, leadership skills, values clarification
and friendships that will last a lifetime.
