SACXS FACTS NEWSLETTER FOR THE SAN ANTONIO CACTUS AND XEROPHYTE SOCIETY May 2013 VOLUME 25, NUMBER 5 “THE SAN ANTONIO CACTUS AND XEROPHYTE SOCIETY WAS ORGANIZED IN 1977 TO PROMOTE THE STUDY, PROPAGATION, CONSERVATION AND PUBLIC AWARENESS OF CACTI AND OTHER SUCCULENT PLANTS.” Acting President’s Message Dear Cactus and Succulent Lovers, The San Antonio Cactus & Xerophyte Society (SACXS) has another gardening event coming up. It is Saturday May 25th, "INSTALLATION OF A NEW ROCK GARDEN CONTAINING CACTI & SUCCULENTS", at one of our member’s homes. If you are interested, plan to attend. Consider bringing a friend - even if he/she is not a member of the club. It’s a way to get people interested and broaden the exposure of our club. The site of this new garden has been prepared. The plants have been selected, acquired, and ready for installation. Cactus soils and organic gardening principles will be discussed. We will use lots of differing rock to create a multi level, terraced garden. Diverse types of cacti and succulents to go into separate zones within this garden. There are differing micro-climates within this front yard garden. Come watch, help, learn, or pick up some new ideas. Don’t forget to indicate how many people will be attending via RSVP to this email. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 210.863.5657.
