dream home in the town of Livingston, their builder
recommended Amir Ilin of Kilche+Cucina to help customize
the cookery.

While the architect's plans for the kitchen offered a large
C a b i n e t r y :P e d i n i M a g i k a

footprint, they faced two challenges. For one, the owners

entertain, and prepare meals with their family. They also
wanted to make this kitchen a modern marvel with multiple
large appliances and an open, clutter-free aesthetic.
With the couple'sgoals in mind, Ilin placed an extralarge island in the middle of the room to serve as a central
point for food prep. In order to get the island top in one
piece, a concrete surface was chosen. Next, Ilin strategically

For this task,Ilin's wife, Anka, who is an interior designer,
joined the designteam.
The clients'wishwas to havea Zen, spa-likeretreat
wherethey could start and end eachday.With this in mind,
the Ilins selectedPedini wood-coloredtexturedlaminate
with aluminum handlesand a dark-coloredCaesarStone
vanity top. The vanitywaspositionedacrossthe room to
serveasa focalpoint coming in, to allow for a his-and-hers
doublesink, and to maximize stongespace.To maintain
an open,airy aesthetic,the Ilins suspendedthe cabinetry
offthe floor. Contrastingcolortiles werebreakup the large
room and satisfiedthe spasryle:The darkertiles on the
floor lend a rug-like feel while the lighter
tiles surroundingthe tub lend light to the
space.Other detailssuchasstrategically
placedstonepebblesfurther the organic
atmospherewhile high-tech amenitieslike
a TV adaptthespacefor modernuse.
