Greetings from SHOPPE 33!
The breeze of summer starts to creep inside every woman’s skin, allowing more exposure and opening,
revealing some skin to feel the sunshine. Chances are the glimpse of slip dress, everything mini, and lightweight fabric that will meet our highest demand these months. To mark the remarkable comeback, we are
glad to present our latest issue, featuring our favorite labels with their latest collections that truly match
the season.
There’s so much we could say about this issue. From decoding the trend of sleepwear that transforms to
office attire and evening wear, to following the ultimate style icon of present days, Irene Kim. Our main
pages filled with the pictures and rendezvous of the woman whose style has been the inspiration of her cult
following social media account, Rosalindynata Gunawan. Despite her hectic schedule, she managed to work
with us for this season’s cover and fashion editorial.

INNER BEAUTY
Inspired by the laid-back of 90’s and the comfort before heading up to the bed,
designers have found the new way to wear slip dress
O
h look, what the models had been doing on
runways? Did they just wake up from the beauty sleep or the beginning of laid-back fashion had
started? The nineties appeal - but not the one that
is identical to Nirvana’s grunge era (well, it depends
on how you interpret and style the trend) - has
found its way back. Satin is the apple of the eye and
the spaghetti strap is crucial to the collar bone. The
sleepwear is swirling around and what suppose to
be worn inside is now never want to hide again.
The slip dress has transformed, from the bed to the
runway. That probably means we can wear it to all
occasions, such as office, party, or whatever we like
to introduce them to the crowd. Designers like Camilla and Marc and Alexis might as well get inspired
by the trend. They make slip dress look more sophisticated than ever with tailored cut and sumptuous stitching. Hence, after a while pajama outer also
marks its comeback to the scene.
Follow in the footsteps of the designers, there is no
other way not to shift forward those items from behind the wardrobe to the eyes of the surroundings.

A
name acts as a home for the folk hunters. Alice
McCall is no stranger to many Australian fashion worshippers. She was born in London, got her
first job as a stylist there, and then moved to Australia to start her own label in 2004 where fashion
was still an underdog industry for all the economic
aspects. Building a company that will be a destination not just for a casual wear but also for those who
admire a true feeling of beauty in a dress, indeed a
difficult job. Moreover, a decade has passed and her
intuition of fashion has grown stronger. Alice McCall is now considered as one of the fashion labels to
covet in all over the world.
Her fans include the rising sisters, Kendall and Kylie
Jenner, superstar Katy Perry, and fashion mogul Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Vintage. That means she
already set her feet deep in the root of Australia and
global fashion. This label is now just a click away. We
are glad to present Alice McCall to our style space.

If there was a name to be called as the eponymous label of the moment,
Serafina Sama might be the person comes close to the title, here’s why

mother of one, a survivor of the stereotypical of Italy, Serafina
Sama is no stranger to the fashion scene. This Italian-born, London-based, and Paris-graduate designer has made the industry richer
with her approach of design and silhouette. To her, Isa Arfen, the name
she gave a tribute after her grandmother, is more than a business. It is
more like her kid, besides rising up her only son, where she moved to
London with. There, she worked and gained her entrepreneurship and
design matters for numerous notable designers and fashion houses,
such as Charlotte Olympia, Acne, and Louis Vuitton.
Years and years, she realized that her dream to create her own label

was not over. Then she continued designing pieces which she later
sold to friends and families. The initial good response made her believe to build her own label that is now become the like of ‘it’ girl, Alexa
Chung. Furthermore, Opening Ceremony, gave its space to Isa Arfen,
making her freshman year so unexpected.
The latest two seasons of Isa Arfen mark her name in the industry. Collections full of thoughtful ideas from all around the world, including the
Balinese woman for Spring 2016, makes us proud enough to be the citizen
of this country. Hence, after last season became our new child, this label
keeps surprising us with their cultivate pieces. Should we ask for more?

making this beautiful lady more than special in every single way.

I
t was Sunday afternoon when we set the date with one of the mostseen faces in local fashion scene. She is petite but courageous, and
probably the most humble person in the bunch. She has just recently
cut her hair off, from long to short blunt bob. She is none other than
the talented lady, Rosalindynata Gunawan.
basis. The answer would be similar; working with kids is not easy at
all. It is a hard shoe to fill in. “Their moods! Kids are very honest and
expressive, so what you see is what you get. I am very fortunate that I
got to be working with kids who were professional and had good work
ethics,” she giggles.
Name every event in the industry and you may not miss the glimpse
of her. Her small figure never hides behind everyone else’s frame that
surrounds her. It is simply because of her personality that makes her
stand-out. She is now a notable kids-wear designer who built her career just by accident.
She is a professional as well, not in term of her profession, but on dedication to everything she does. Like doing this shoot with us, it probably took more than couple miles to arrive at the location. Afterwards,
she had to rush back to attend friend’s wedding. She arrived first and
was very excited to do the makeup. After being shown the concept, she
even was more excited than before. “Oh, this is cool,” she shouted.
“At the moment I was still working with my uncle, Sebastian Gunawan,
as his assistant. Then after being mentored by him for two years, he
asked me to temporarily replace him as a head designer for Bubble
Girl due to his crazy workload.” Did she feel ecstatic? Who doesn’t,
right? After all, her courage determines her passion. Who cares if she
has never done kids-wear before when she thought that it would be a
good challenge for her career?
Years have passed since she took the big leap. Bubble Girl is now growing bigger under her helm. For those who don’t know, Bubble Girl is
a kids-wear brand that offers ready-to-wear and couture fashion for
children of age 1-14 years old. It is known for its unique, beautiful and
fun design and all by the creative mega-mind of Rosalindynata Gunawan.
It was a little gloomy, the sun hid for a moment, not too amiable with
the concept. Again, her ultra energy was the one who cheered us up.
She is no stranger to the camera. In a month, she could seemingly be
seen in several fashion magazines, regardless of her inspiring story or
personal style. Due to the latter in which she claims her style as experimental yet polished.
“Today I might be wearing a white James Perse t-shirt with J-brand
flare jeans and tomorrow might be wearing Vivienne Westwood ruffle
skirt suit with matching bags and shoes,” she describes her personal
style. Over the shoot, she admired the design of Alice McCall and Isa
Arfen, though she secretly admitted that it is hard for her to find the
perfect attire without being altered.
As a designer, having your hand to design a womenswear is completely
different with constructing kids-wear. There are issues to certain factors, such as passing the government standard for safety in children
clothing, which is complicated. Yet, she manages it with positive mind.
“There is a great potential in kids-wear market and I want to develop
the local business of this particular market by doing some collaborations with notable partners. It is hard but the challenge makes it fun!”
Looking over her Instagram page, her daily life filled with endless inspiration. From style to body-goal as she hails exercise a lot. It is hard
not to earmark her style which is very chameleon in her own way. It is
a picture perfect sort of a personality; a beautiful face with beautiful
mind, and great dreams. As she told us one of them, “I want Bubble Girl
to be a household brand known nationally and internationally.”
Ling-ling, as her family and friends call her, is indeed a gentle person.

The flowers bloom in spring and by the summer, they will have turned out to be the best inspiration of all

alking about spring and summer collections, almost all the designers chose the elements mostly from the nature. Altogether
the idea was mixed with the spirit of the brand. The sweet intricacy
and hours of craftsmanship were born. When they showed it the first
time to the public’s eyes, speculations had gone. The inspirations
have now become trends. The only trend that is recurrently shown
to our sight is none otherworldly, being feminine.
Floral, lace, bow, frill, and soft colors make their appearances on multiple major runways. Those elements are somehow pushing forward
the feminist issue that recently blew up in many aspects. Fashion
is the subject that is undeniably affected. Women are now becoming the best version of who they are. Women who are free-spirited,
strong, independent, keenly stylish and not afraid to add the feminine details to their attire.
The designers who support those women this season do not hesitate
to also create a silhouette that makes our body beautiful, no matter
what size we are. Holly Fulton, is no exception to the list. Apart from
the bubblegum colors, Holly Fulton also forms the shape of flower petals amazingly. The Australian-based designer, Alice McCall,
makes lace more romantic than ever. Through its shape, the collection becomes the new talk-about. The question for all, are we feminist? If the answer was yes, would you mind wear this trend?

Winning one prestigious fashion award could be one’s proudest moment in designer’s life. But two, it could mean a
whole another story. Here, Sean and Sheila, one of the most noticed fashion labels that happened to be current local’s
favorite speak what has been the challenge and dream of their career. Sean Loh and Sheila Agatha tell it all.
How did you start Sean and Sheila?
Sean & Sheila was started after we won the Harper’s Bazaar New Generation Award in 2013 both in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Sean and Sheila is now considered as one of the breakthrough
labels in Indonesia. What do you think has been the biggest challenge and goal of the label?
We think one of the most challenging things when starting the label
was to understand the business itself. It is because we do not have any
working experience before and it took us quite awhile before we could
run the business smoothly.
Is there any specific person who always pops up in your mind
when sketching the designs?
Currently, we do not have a muse when designing a collection. It’s
more about asking ourselves if the pieces we make can also be our go-to.
Going global is like the major goal of every fashion designer. Do you
believe that going global will help you succeed in local fashion scene?
It is important to globalize your label not only for the status and the
sake of the label but also to understand a wider range of customers.
From what we have experience going global peaked interest in the local press, which in turn gained us more customers. We would say it
really helped us to succeed in the local fashion scene.
What do you think makes Sean and Sheila recognized by so many
people and to have your own loyal customers and fans?
We think because the embroidery has been our very first signature. We
also introduce different animal embroidery in each collection. So our
customers can collect each of them every time we launch the collection.
What type of woman who you always dream to be your loyal customers?
The ideal woman customer would be a confident and independent
working woman who is not afraid to be herself.
How do you think a local brand can compete in this tough industry
where most traditional customers tend to buy international labels?
I think as long as the label has its own unique identity and provide high
quality product, it won’t be an impossible thing to compete in the industry.
Is there any motto that you always keep in mind, especially to
make Sean and Sheila become more successful in the future?
Break the rules but keep the tradition by Alexander Mcqueen. It is
what inspires us.
Tell us a little about your next collection? Any sneak peek?
For next collection we are exploring China during the Dynasty era and
whole lot of different embroideries. We are also developing accessories which will be introduced in our SS17 collection.

Keep the design on track for the sake of the industry. This
promising new label has surfaced to the fashion scene in
2011 under the direction of Melanie Flintoft. She takes the
inspiration from traditional eveningwear then transforms it
into modern silhouette that enhance the shape of woman’s
body. No wonder, KEEPSAKE has grown from unknown to
the like of Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Mila Kunis.
4. Finders Keepers
Be prepared for the collection that is true to the heart. The
New-York based designer first launched his first set back
in 2010 where the world was still unfamiliar with the name.
Fast forward to half a decade later, Jonathan Simkhai has
transformed to be the name of famous Hollywood celebrities. Fast forward again; it will be hung on your rack soon.

It is a fact that Melanie Flintoft is not only bold and brilliant
through KEEPSAKE. Finders Keepers is like her another
child. It is conceived and born through her vision, making
the name become the sought after fashion label and celebrities’ favorite. Should we mention Jessica Alba on the customer list?

This world will be less enthusiastic without the phenomenon of Korean pop culture. Everything that comes behind
the circumstance also brings Korean designers to the forefront. GOEN J is no exception. The designer, Goen Jong, spent
7 years studying in Paris, and then established the label in
2012. Not only well-known in Korea, this label has expanded globally, making its entrance to the world’s prestigious
shopping destination.
3. KEEPSAKE
Wait, they are not cameo in Australian fashion. Indeed this
label was born to dictate future taste. It sets the trend of
what women nowadays should wear to any occasions. Not
only two, four collection per year, C/MEO produce eleven
collections each year hinges from a central theme. What a
lovely news to hear when you don’t have to wait for the new
collection for such a long time?
