Though the various programs, the agency is a resource for both persons seeking services and as a community partner. As a resource, persons who were at risk of being homeless or homeless were provided shelter and assistance towards permanent housing; adults with severe mental illness and children with severe emotional disabilities received case management services to maintain their community placement; adults and children with developmental and intellectual disabilities received housing and case management services to maintain stability in their community placement, in addition to supported employment services. Professional staff – psychiatrists, APRN, outpatient and school therapists, case managers, support brokers, day training specialists, prevention specialists, rape crisis advocates, supported employment specialists, group home staff, family home providers, early childhood intervention specialists, and many others – focus daily on improving the lives of others through quality service delivery. Staff training continues to be a focus of the agency to ensure staff learn and employ techniques that have been proven to be successful in helping people reach their goals of health, safety, and wellness. November 2011 began Medicaid managed care in Kentucky for the first time in its history. Numerous agency resources were redirected and focused on preparation for billing, electronic resources, training staff, and contracting with the various managed care organizations in the state. Without caring and dedicated staff, none of the preparation for managed care or daily service delivery would be possible. Every day they work together to assist clients needing help with overcoming challenges and barriers to community living. On behalf of The Adanta Group’s Board of Directors and I, please accept our appreciation for our Staff and Clients, Community Membership and Leaders, and State and Local Partners for your continued dedication, commitment, and support in helping Adanta to serve others. Enhancing the Lives of Others...we stand by our Purpose. Jamie S. One in 17 adults live with a serious mental health disorder such as schizophrenia, major depression or bipolar disorder. About one in 10 children live with a serious mental or emotional disorder. One half of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by age 14, three-quarters by age 24. Despite effective treatments, there are long delays—sometimes decades– between the first onset of symptoms and when people seek and receive treatment. Individuals living with serious mental illness face an increased risk of having chronic medical conditions. Adults living with serious mental illness die 25 years earlier than other Americans, largely due to treatable medical conditions. Over 50 percent of students with a mental disorder age 14 and older drop our of high school - the highest dropout rate of any disability group. 24% of state prisoners and 21% of local jail prisoners have a recent history of a mental health disorder. In the United States, the annual economic, indirect cost of mental illness is estimated to be $79 billion. Most of that amount - approximately $63 billion - reflects the loss of productivity as a result of illness. An estimated 5.2 million adults have co-occurring mental health / addiction disorders. On a local level: The Adanta Group serves adults and children suffering from psychiatric disorders through psychiatric and medication management services, outpatient mental health and substance abuse services, and case management and supported employment services. Adults and adolescents convicted of driving under the influence attend education and treatment services. Adults and children who have experienced a sexual assault can readily access advocacy services and counseling. Persons in crisis, whether in the community or in jail, access immediate services through various programs and a 24/7 agency-run crisis hotline. Staff strive to make a positive difference in the lives of the people they service and the communities where they work. 6 Meeting Needs Locally Substance Abuse Services Adults and Children Service Events Clients Individual 6,498 606 Group 51,475 615 Case Management Services 2,393 488 Consultation & Education 2,494 19 DUI Services 11,241 442 Prevention Services 2,301 Developmental / Intellectual Disability Services Adults and Children Service Events Day Program 533,122 120 522 52 2,064 177 297 21 429,431 110 Supports for Community Living Waiver Michelle P.
