This year the Festival has grown, and in addition to the much-loved
Music Marquee and the Arena acts, we are offering an Art Fair, Dog Show,
Strongman Spectacular, Outdoor Theatre and Kidzone. We are proud to
say that all these activities are free, because we want the Festival to be
open to everyone, but if you do have some money to spend why not
visit our many gorgeous stands and treat yourself.
Not only does the Live Music in the Marquee go on til 10.30 tonight,
it also continues tomorrow. We just had too much talent to fit into 1 day.
The Bar will also be open. So bring a picnic blanket, and come back for
Day 2, from 11.00 for a more chilled and relaxed vibe.
The Festival is sponsored by Morrisons Solicitors, who are offering free
Kids’ Goody Bags, presented by a partnership of local organisations
(see page 24) and co-ordinated by the Reigate Events Collective,
a fearless group of local volunteers (see page 2).
There are competition prizes for Themed Costume,
Theatre Mask Decoration, Poster Design and Colouring.

Spectacular’, co-presented by the Gadget Show’s Ortis Deley, and
supporting the Lucy Rayner Foundation,-a local charity set up to
raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of depression and mental health in general. Come along to watch the competitors lift cars,
press logs and run carrying the weight of 4 people on their backs!

The Archway Theatre Company will be performing “Shakespeare’s
Quarrelling Lovers” - extracts from 3 plays where the course of true love
doesn’t run smooth! We also have some very talented young actors
performing Orbit Shed Theatre Shakespearean’- a compilation of scenes
from some of the Bard’s greatest plays performed in variety of drama
styles. The Reigate School of Ballet and Commercial Dance - Starlight
Musical Theatre Group will be performing a synopsis and dance from
Return to the Forbidden Planet. Speaking of things that are forbidden,
Shakespeare’s tale of forbidden love between Romeo and Juliet will be
performed by the Dare Youth Dance Company. Don’t miss Reigate
Grammar School’s ‘The Play’s the Thing!’ A pick n’ mix selection of
Shakespeare’s best monologues, duologues and songs from his funniest
and most compelling plays! Stage Coach will be entertaining us with A
Shakespearean Performance and RAAS Drama will be amusing us with
their ‘Shakespeare pick n mix’. If you want to get involved, Star Steppers
will be providing a free dance and drama workshop for children based on
Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

Every year the Reigate Community Festival
attracts 1000’s of visitors to Reigate Priory
Park, to join in with the festivities of the day.
This year that fun has been extended to
include ‘Man’s Best Friend’ - with the premier
inclusion of the Reigate Dog Show; offering
a variety of classes tailored to include all breeds and combinations.
Rosettes will be awarded to 6th place in
every class, with a trophy for every winner
- kindly sponsored by Priory Veterinary
Surgeons.
And there’s a prize for the best dressed
owner reflecting the Festival’s
Shakespearean theme.
So it’s time to ‘Pimp Up Your Pet’ and brush up on your training
skills for the Reigate Fun Dog Show 2016. Come along, bring the

Theatre Mask Competition
We are delighted to present this year’s Competition for Schools and Children, to design your
own Comedy / Tragedy Theatre Mask.
Please take your Mask to the Art Marquee, where it will be
displayed. Please ensure you have written your
name, age and your parent’s mobile number on
the reverse. Judging by renowned local
graphic designer Sarah Godsell will
take place around 3.00pm. There are
2 age categories which are, 6 and
under, and 7 and over, and there is
a prize for each of a Crayola
Inspirational Art Case and a £25
Voucher for Pistachios .

Surrey Art Fairs are thrilled to be able to
bring together local artists in the Art
Marquee at this year’s festival.
A unique opportunity for you to see a
whole range of different styles from pet
portraits, paintings, textiles
and ceramics to stunning glassworks.
All by artists from across our wonderful
county. There will be live
demonstrations throughout the day.
There will also be entries from our
public art competition, open to all age
groups. Judging will take place on the
day, and who knows, there may be a
budding artist in our midst?!
Surrey Art Fairs wants to connect the artist
with the general public in a comfortable
environment, which provides an affordable
display case for the artists, allowing them
to sell their work at affordable prices to potential local buyers.
