DO NOT wear your cheer shoes, these are for games and cheer-off ONLY!!! DO wear tennis shoes with smooth bottoms similar to the cheer shoes. Your child will be stunting, which may require them to stand on one of their teammates! Shoes with heavy tread are very painful to the one being stepped on! Long hair MUST be pulled up, this is required by the GFL for stunting and also helps with the heat. Bring plenty of water! Remember, dehydration is a very serious concern! Bring a hand towel to wipe off with and insect repellant is highly recommended! Last but not least, be on time and well nourished! A heavy meal right before practice is not recommended especially with the heat, but a healthy snack will make all the difference! Any practice designated as a Cheer-off practice is mandatory, Absences from any Cheer-off practice, may affect the cheerleader's ability to participate in the Cheer-off Event. > At this grade level, parents of cheerleaders are not required to stay at practice, but they must return 15 minutes before practice ends to pick up their cheerleader and receive important updates regarding upcoming events or schedule changes. Should you work out carpooling arrangements, your Coach and Team Mom will need phone numbers where a parent can be reached in case of an emergency. If weather becomes inclement, parents should report to the practice location immediately to pick up their child. It is very important that you arrive on time for pick up; we are all parents with family responsibilities and need to get home. You must come to the practice site to sign your child out prior to leaving. The child, regardless of age, will not be released to go find you. Game Day > Cheerleaders must arrive 45 minutes prior to game time and sign in with the Team Mom. We use this time to practice the half-time routine and make any last minute changes necessary due to unexpected absences or injuries. For this reason, cheerleaders arriving late (excused or not) may be required to sit out during the half-time performance. > Cheerleaders are not allowed to leave their positions without permission from the coaching staff and must be cheering while football players are on the field. Breaks from cheering can only be authorized by the coaching staff. > Cheerleaders may not have gum, food, soda or sugar drinks of any kind on the cheer line. Only water will be allowed in the cheer line. Please make sure you cheerleader has had a light meal or healthy snack prior to arrival.
