O
New Member Mixer
ur Board of Directors and staff welcomed new members and shared
information about membership benefits during our New Member Mixer. n
Thank you to our host:
We’re proud to announce the
release of our new website
for the Gahanna Area
Chamber of Commerce!
T
he new website boasts a fresh new
face, smarter navigation and easier
access to information and services
provided by the Chamber. Behind the
scenes you can find an enhanced content
management system for ease in updating
content, increased search engine
optimization, and a robust Chamber
Member management database. All in all,
a much-needed up that helps to provide
more value to our Chamber Members.
One of the primary objectives of the
new GACC website is to provide a more
community-oriented experience that
better mirrors the characteristics of the
Gahanna Area and our organization.
“We wanted to better personify the
Chamber through their website,
providing a much more immersive
experience for both existing and potential
Chamber Members alike”, said Jennifer
Chiappisi of Fourth Floor Interactive, the
interactive firm who completed the new
Chamber website and branding.
To achieve this, new Member Profiles,
an exciting News and Events area, and a
compelling Get Involved section have all
been implemented within the site. These
new features mentioned are highlighted
below:
Member Profiles pages allow for much
more information to be provided for
every Chamber Member, not only giving
members a platform in which to advertise
their services but also providing added
value for members and non-members
who are searching for products and/
or services from Chamber businesses.
These member profiles are linked to
throughout the site in place such as our
Board of Directors and Committee lists
as well as applicable news articles and
event pages.
The updated News & Events area
showcases a month at a glance view of
upcoming events, more informative news
articles as well as the ability for members
to add news and events
that pertains to their
business. These can
also easily be shared
through
Twitter,
Facebook and a variety
of other social media
platforms via the handy
ShareThis link on each individual news
article or event page.
The new Get Involved section is
incredibly informative and better
describes ways to take full advantage
of your Chamber membership. It also
provides better visuals of advertising
opportunities, so you can better grasp the
impact of advertising with the chamber.
In addition to providing a better
experience to our members, we also
wanted to make it much easier for nonmembers to find us, learn about the
benefits of being a Chamber Member
and join the Chamber.
Coming Soon:
This initial launch of our new website is
just the first step in bringing better value
to our Chamber members. Soon you
will see additional phases of the website
launching, including, but not limited to,
the following features:
u Online Membership Applications
and Renewals with the ability to submit
member applications (or renewals) and
payment on our website.
u Build Your Business provides
members with a great resource full of

any growing business.

under Build Your Business!
u Ask an Expert providing members
with a platform to request advice and get
business questions answered by those in
the industry.
u Member Profile will increase in
capabilities, allowing members to
manage employees’ access to the
members-only area, to edit their visible
Member Profile page, keep logos up-todate that are on file with the Chamber
and take immediate advantage of various
member opportunities such as sponsoring
an event and advertising, among others.
u Register for Events will give members
and non-members alike the ability

website. They will also be able to denote
if they would like to become a sponsor of
an event where applicable.
u Members will have the opportunity

March 10th Luncheon Review
D
uring the March Chamber of Commerce monthly lunch,
Gahanna Mayor Becky Stinchcomb shared the City’s
accomplishments for 2010 and her vision for 2011 during her
annual State of the City presentation. Her continuing theme
of taking Gahanna to the next level was explained through
her administrations five objects: smart growth, innovative
funding, citizen-centric, improved communication and
economic success.
“We like to say that Gahanna is a community with a smalltown feel, but yet we try to provide big-city amenities,”
Stinchcomb said. “[But] we always remember who we work
for, and that is all of you ... and that’s very important to me as
your mayor.”
One of the specific recommendations the committee made was
to request that City Council put a 1% income tax increase on
One of the goals of 2010, Stinchcomb shared, was improved the November ballot. For many reasons including survey data
communications. Stinchcomb said that she and Finance showing residents are not ready to support such an increase

year.
Last year the City formed the Citizens Financial Advisory Looking ahead to 2011, Stinchcomb spoke to several projects

leaders, to evaluate the City’s revenues, expenses and projects. Drive from the industrial park over Interstate 270 to Hamilton

some of those recommendations including developing a list
of prioritized services.
Another growth project includes the city’s fiber-optics
network, noting that such networks are one of the first things
“My charge to them was to take a look at our finances [and] see if businesses ask about when preparing to relocate. This is

economic recovery. “We don’t sit idle in a standstill economy,”
Stinchcomb said.

Another related objective, Stinchcomb said, it Economic Success.
“Everything we do is hinged on our economic success. If we are
not prudent with our funds, we cannot provide services.”
“We are not immune to the economy,” Stinchcomb said. 2010 was
yet another year in budget cuts, including staff cuts by attrition,
retirements and reductions in overtime. Stinchcomb said that
she was pleased to report that through careful management the
administration was able to report that $3 million in appropriated,
but unspent money had been returned to the general fund.
“It’s been very difficult, but it’s something we had to
do,” she said.
The economy, Stinchcomb said, impacts how the
City operates. “The bottom line is that, as long as
the economy suffers, it’s not business as usual in the
city,” she said. “But that doesn’t mean city leaders
should lose sight of their long-term goals.”
“These goals have not changed and will not change.
Visions do not change with a bump in the road.
What’s important to me is that we keep moving
forward as a city,” Stinchcomb said. “We are ready
and prepared to take this city forward as the economy
slowly improves.”

We are excited to share that the call was answered
by generous business partners and an enthusiastic
community as our “Celebration of Excellence” event

In our seventh year, we hosted over 420 guests
including 27 corporate tables who enthusiastically
bid on seven live and over 600 silent auction
items magnificently displayed by our dedicated

O
hio State Medical Center FastCare Walk in without an appointment
FastCare is healthcare from Ohio State University
Medical Center professionals, but you don’t have
to be an Ohio State University Medical Center
patient- just someone who wants the help without
the wait. FastCare Clinics are a revolutionary
way to reduce overall costs to the community and
improve the health of our population. Specifically,
we can demonstrate that in concert with our health
care partners throughout the country we have saved
a combined fifty-two million dollars in health
care costs. This occurs when patients are treated
in the appropriate medical setting and receive
the appropriate medical care, in that setting. Our
Mission Statement is that we provide patients with
the right care, at the right time, at the right price.
When FastCare Clinics are introduced into a
community there are immediate savings to the
local economy by decreasing emergency room
visits in the hospital. These FastCare visits
such as sore throats, ear aches, upper respiratory
infections, and cold and flu systems, to name a
few, can be seen in the FastCare Clinics for onetenth of the cost of an emergency room visit.
Immediate savings can be realized by the patients,
employers and insurance companies. In theses
days of high deductible health insurance plans
and increasing out-of-pocket expense, FastCare
can be a welcome relief to our pocketbooks
By integrating FastCare visits into physicians
offices, cots can be reduced by non-duplication of
services and engaging people in their health care
by promoting routine physicals and age related
testing. All of this can reduce large health care
claims, which in turn helps businesses manage
their claims data and have a downward effect on
health insurance premiums.
Just $59 per visit (including lab) and we’ll even bill
your insurance. Located inside Gahanna Giant
Eagle, 1250 N. Hamilton Rd. (614) 366-2050
