These bases are combined with a tailored surfactant package to ensure Weedmaster DST delivers optimal efficacy in a range of conditions: excellent stability at low temperatures, mixing in hard water and compatibility with other tank mix partners. The Dual Salt Technology difference The in-field performance of glyphosate formulations can vary significantly, depending upon a variety of key factors that include: • The concentration of glyphosate acid used in the formulations. • The combination, type and concentration of salts and surfactants they contain. Every Dual Salt Technology product is the result of years of research, testing dozens of different chemical combinations to find the optimal ratios of two glyphosate salts and surfactants. It took years of research by the Australian development team at Nufarm to discover and confirm that adding a second, mono-ammonium salt – in combination with a unique surfactant package – could make glyphosate even more effective and easier to use. P O H The use of a mono-ammonium salt in combination with a unique surfactant system in the formulation: • reduces foaming and viscosity (thickening in cold conditions). K H N H O H C Single Salt Glyphosate acid is not soluble in water. In order to make it soluble, it must be reacted with a base. Glyphosate-potassium or glyphosate-IPA salt is essential so the glyphosate solubilises and remains stable in solution. O mono-ammonium = improved weed control across a range of conditions Each Dual Salt Technology formulation includes a proprietary surfactant ideally suited to the particular concentration and combination of salts and tested to partner well with adjuvants like LI 700®. Perfecting the Weedmaster DST formulation alone involved over 10,000 hours of research and development work, with 60 formulations tested in the lab and 73 field trials conducted over 5 years. As this graph shows, Glyphosate 450 CT became about three times as viscous at the lower temperature, whereas Weedmaster DST remained easy to pour. Dual Salt Technology was developed to deliver improved levels of in-field performance, and it does.
