Photo Entry caption Simple suggestions to ensure your entries are submitted at their best potential: Tip 1: Always set the camera image quality to the largest or best possible setting. All winners will have their photo printed in our calendar and each photo will be printed at approximately A4 size. This is about twice the size of a standard 6x4” photo as shown below. A4 Full name of photographer Contact phone number Email address Category (please tick one): Turf in Action Moments of perfection Putting in the hard yards My Office Window 6x4 I/We, (the individuals named below): Trying to enlarge a 6x4 photo to A4 size could result in a blurry or pixelated image and won’t be suitable for printing. The best way to prevent this from occurring is to always check your camera has the Image Quality set to the largest or best possible setting. (Refer to your camera’s user manual to learn where to do this). For best results, adjust the image quality to a setting higher than 2400 x 1600 pixels. Note: Adjusting the camera’s image quality to a high setting will mean the amount of photos you can store on the camera memory card will decrease, so ensure the card is empty or take a spare memory card in case you run out of room. a)Consent to PGG Wrightson Turf (PGW Turf ) and its employees and authorised agents taking and publishing photographic images of me and my property (inclusive of all landscape scenery, buildings and fixtures) for the purposes of packaging, marketing, advertising and promoting PGW Turf and any of its businesses, subsidiaries, products or services and consent to the use of printed or electronic matter used in conjunction with such images. Tip 2: Take photos in landscape orientation. The winning photos are printed in the PGG Wrightson calendar in landscape orientation. So where possible supply landscape images. c) Acknowledge that I will not receive any payment from/for the use of such images. b)Acknowledge that PGW Turf will own the copyright of any such photographic images taken for such purposes and irrevocably waive to PGW Turf all copyright and moral rights in such images under the Copyright Act 1994 or otherwise. d)Confirm that I/we have the requisite power and authority to grant PGW Turf the permissions set out in this consent. e) PGW Turf also agrees that it will only include photographic images in new printed matter or electronic matter for a period of 10 years, although once printed the images are permanent. It is understood and acknowledged that consideration for any extension to this Consent is to be agreed between the parties, separate from this Consent. Photo date: Description of photo: Frequently asked questions: Do all entries have to be submitted via email? No we can take exceptions, call Liz Inglis on 03 372 0858 to arrange another option. How many times can I submit a photo? Each person is welcome to submit as many photos as they wish. What date do entries close? 5pm 3rd October 2016. Do I have to be a PGG Wrightson Turf customer to enter? No, any amateur photographers, whether a PGG Wrightson Turf customer or not, can enter. Can the photo be of anything? No, it must have some relevance to the New Zealand Turf Industry, and be in a specified category. Why do you need high resolution images? The calendar is a large printed document. Because the calendar images will be enlarged, photographs need to be taken and submitted at the highest possible quality. How do I know if my camera can take high resolution images? Refer to your camera manual and follow the instructions. The image quality on your camera will need to be at a setting higher than 2400 x 1600 pixels. If my image is portrait can I still enter it? Yes you can although with portrait photos your entry may not be accepted. Can I enter my images into more than one category? No, each entry can only be entered into one category. If your photo is of another person’s property, you must have permission to use. Do I need consent for people? Yes you will need to have consent of those in the image. 2017 Turf Calendar Competition Entry and consent form Photographer: A4 Portrait A4 Landscape Property name and location: Signature of property owner or representative: Email address &/or phone number of owner (if different from above): Name of photographed Panoramic A4 Landscape Tip 3: Try to submit original photo files from the camera’s memory card. Once you have decided which photos you would like to enter, transfer the photo file straight from the camera’s memory card onto your computer and upload online. Saving the photo as a different format may result in changing the image quality or adding more compression to the photo, and therefore reducing its potential for good print reproduction. Tip 4: If you reduce images for emailing, always keep a copy of the original file! IF YOU NEED TO REDUCE YOUR IMAGE, KEEP A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL FILE! If your image progresses through as a finalist, we will need to obtain a high quality version to ensure that it meets printing requirements. Saving a copy of the original file in a different location and/or using clear file names will help to identify which image is high quality and which one has been reduced. Tip 5: Don’t use photo manipulation We want to find the best photographs, not ones that have been altered using photo manipulation software. Those that have been altered will not be eligible for judging. GOOD LUCK! Name of photographed persons – please print clearly Title/position Signature Date NB: - All photographed PGG Wrightson Turf staff must also complete this form. - Even if annual consent is given by property, we still need individual consent from all recognisable people in the photos
