Emergency Medical Services
The Kennedy Center Security Office staffs Emergency Medical Technicians to handle emergency medical needs in
the building from 7am – 11:30pm. Should an emergency arise, please call extension 7911 from any Kennedy Center
telephone, or for non-emergency use, please call extension 7900 for Security Operations.
Please do not call 911 directly.
Public Wi-Fi Internet Access
The Kennedy Center only provides free public wi-fi access in the KC Café, located on the Terrace Floor (accessible
from Hall of States or Hall of Nations lobby elevators).
To connect: You must supply your own device to connect (e.g. laptop, smart phone). The network name is
“KCPublic” and no password is needed. Users must agree to the Terms and Conditions of Use and provide a valid
email address. Bandwidth is limited and download speed varies depending on the number of users connected.

Kennedy Center Performance Spaces

Concert Hall – As the largest performance space at the Kennedy Center with 2,454 seats, the Concert Hall is
home to the Center’s National Symphony Orchestra.

Opera House – Musical theater, opera, and ballet are performed in the Opera House. It is the second largest
performance space at the Kennedy Center with 2,294 seats and has the largest backstage space in the United
States.

Eisenhower Theater – Named after the President who signed the legislation calling for the creation of a National
Cultural Center, the 1,122-seat Eisenhower Theater presents theater, opera, and dance productions. The
Eisenhower Theater was renovated in 2008.

Terrace Theater – A bicentennial gift from Japan, the Terrace Theater is an ideal setting for chamber music and
recitals. Family theater performances, along with dance and theatrical productions, are staged in this 475-seat
theater on the Roof Terrace Level.

Theater Lab – Experimental works and family theater productions are staged in the 398-seat Theater Lab,
located on the Roof Terrace Level.

Millennium Stage – Since 1997, the Kennedy Center stages free, daily performances at 6 p.m. on its Millennium
Stage in the Grand Foyer. These performances are broadcasted live on the Internet at
www.kennedy-center.org/millennium.

Family Theater – This 320-seat theater showcases performances and education events in theater, dance, and
music for young people and their families.

Terrace Gallery – This space, on the Roof Terrace Level, hosts our Jazz club, other performances, visual art
displays, workshops, lectures, discussions, seminars, and classes about the performing arts for teachers and the
general public.
Box Office
The main box office is located in the Hall of States. It is open Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday and
Holidays from 12 p.m.–9 p.m.
Tickets may also be purchased over the phone daily from 10 am – 9 pm at 202-467-4600 or 800-444-1324.
The TTY number for ticket purchases is 202-416-8524. Finally, tickets may be purchased on the Center’s website at
www.kennedy-center.org/tickets/.
If you decide to pick up tickets the evening of a Concert Hall performance, please pick up your tickets at the Concert
Hall box office in the Hall of Nations. This box office is open one hour prior to each concert hall performance.
The Manager and Coordinator will work directly with you to coordinate company comps and purchases.
Gift Shops
The gift shops offer souvenir and performing arts-related gifts at two locations: The Hall of States and the lobby of
Parking Level A. The shops are open daily from 10 a.m.–9 p.m.
All performers receive a 15% discount on purchases of $10 or more with their guest artist passes.
As mentioned in your contract, please contact Merchandise Services if you would like to sell merchandise at your
engagement.

Tours of the Kennedy Center are available daily, free of charge from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. at the Tour Desk on Parking
Level A, across from the gift shop. For groups of 20 or more, special needs, foreign language, and VIP tours, please

Driving Directions and Parking
Driving Directions from Northern Virginia
 Via the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge (I-66 & Rte. 50): Take the first left upon crossing the bridge, staying to the
left on the Potomac Expressway (toward Rock Creek Parkway). At the yield sign, turn left and proceed to the
second stoplight at Virginia Avenue. Turn left on Virginia Avenue. Turn right onto 25th Street and follow the
signs for the Kennedy Center.
 Via Key Bridge (Rt. 29/ Lee Hwy.): From Key Bridge, take the first right onto the Whitehurst Freeway. Proceed
to the stoplight at 27th Street. Turn right and proceed to the second stoplight at Virginia Avenue. Turn left on
Virginia Avenue. Turn right onto 25th Street and follow the signs for the Kennedy Center.
 Via Memorial Bridge (from I-395): From I-395 North, take Exit 8B, Washington Blvd. towards
Pentagon/Arlington Cemetery/Rosslyn/Memorial Bridge. Merge onto Washington Boulevard. Take the Rte. 50
West/George Washington Memorial Parkway North exit. Merge onto Arlington Memorial Bridge and get in the
left lane. Begin to loop around the Lincoln Memorial (at right). Take the first left onto 23rd Street and get in the
left lane. After E Street, turn left onto Virginia Avenue. At the second stoplight, turn left onto 25th Street and
follow the signs for the Kennedy Center.
Driving Directions from Maryland and Northwest DC
 Via the Capital Beltway (I-495 from I-270 S and I-95 S): Take I-495 toward Tysons Corner (if coming from I270, take I-495 South; if coming from I-95, take I-495 West). Upon crossing the American Legion Bridge, take exit
43 onto the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Take the GW Pkwy approximately 12 miles to the right-hand
exit onto Rt. 50 East via the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge (toward D.C.). Take the first left upon crossing the Roosevelt
Bridge, staying to the left on the Potomac Expressway (toward Rock Creek Parkway). At the yield sign, turn left and
proceed straight to the second stoplight at Virginia Avenue. Turn left on Virginia Avenue. Turn right onto 25th Street
and follow the signs for the Kennedy Center.
From Downtown DC
 Via Independence Avenue (west from the Capitol): Proceeding west on Independence Avenue the road
becomes Rock Creek Parkway. Get in the left lane and pass under three bridges.
o Matinee and evening performance times: After driving under the Kennedy Center River Terrace, exit
right to the garage's C Level North entrance.
o All other times: After passing under the third bridge, exit right to the garage's B or C level South
entrances.
 Via Rock Creek Parkway South: Turn left onto Virginia Avenue. At the second stoplight, turn right onto 25th
Street and follow the signs for the Kennedy Center.
o Important Note: Monday – Friday from 4-6:30 p.m., Rock Creek Parkway South is inaccessible due to
rush-hour lane closures. During these hours, follow Massachusetts Avenue downtown, then turn right
onto 22nd Street. Proceed to Washington Circle. Drive almost halfway around the circle, then turn right
onto New Hampshire Avenue. At the first stoplight cross Virginia Avenue and follow signs around
Juarez Circle to the Kennedy Center.
Parking
The Kennedy Center encourages guest artists to use public transportation during peak performance times to provide
ample parking for our patrons.
However, the standard parking rate with a valid Guest Artist Pass is currently $10 per day. Keep in mind that the rate
does not entitle the user to in/out privileges; it is applicable per entry. Company members who wish to park in the
Kennedy Center garage must show their Guest Artist Pass to obtain the discounted rate. All company members with
cars should enter the garage via ‘Parking Level C’ at the south entrance (opposite the Watergate complex). Overnight
parking is not permitted.

Metro Station and following performances in front of the Kennedy Center.

 A SmarTrip card is a permanent, rechargeable farecard. It can be purchased for $10, which makes the cost of
the card $2 and comes with an $8 stored value.
 One-day passes and week-long passes are available for purchase as well, and can provide unlimited metro
travel.

The closest metro station to the Kennedy Center is the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station (23rd and I Street NW), on
the Blue and Orange lines. The Kennedy Center is a seven-minute walk from the station or you may take the free

The Kennedy Center Metro Shuttle runs to and from the Foggy Bottom-GWU station every 15 minutes. Look for the
red Kennedy Center Shuttle in front of the station’s escalator entrance, and at the Kennedy Center in front of the Hall of
Nations.

After going up the escalator to exit the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station, walk right onto 23rd Street NW and take an

you hit F Street NW. The John F. Kennedy Center will be in front of you.

Via Metro:
Metrorail stops adjacent to Terminals B and C. Metrorail fare cards may be purchased from machines at either of
two Farecard plazas located on Level 2 near pedestrian bridges that lead into and out of Terminals B and C. A
third Farecard plaza for disabled and other passengers using elevators is under the Metrorail platform, midway
between the north and south mezzanines. Take the Blue line to or from the Ronald Reagan National Airport Station
to Foggy Bottom-GWU.

Washington Flyer Taxi:
Washington Flyer Taxicabs serve Dulles International Airport exclusively with 24-hour service to and from the
airport. Taxicab dispatchers are on duty 24 hours a day at the East and West ramps on the lower level of the
Main Terminal. Wheelchair mini buses only accommodate 1 chaired or disabled passenger and 3 additional nonchaired passengers. Smoking and non-smoking vehicles are available by request. Contact Washington Flyer Taxi
at 703-572-TAXI (8294). The fare from Dulles Airport to downtown Washington D.C. is approximately $65.
Washington Flyer Coach Service:
Operated by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the Washington Flyer Coach Service provides a
convenient link between Washington Dulles and the West Falls Church Metrorail station. All coaches are
disabled-accessible. Take the Orange line to West Falls Church Metro, then Washington Super Flyer shuttle for $10
one-way or $18 roundtrip.
Bus:
The 5A Metro bus provides inexpensive transportation between the Rosslyn Metro Station (Blue and Orange Line)
and Dulles Airport for $6.00. Exact change or SmarTrip card required.
