BIGCITYWELCOME
The echoes and flashes of the celebratory fireworks’
booms and bursts fade as the labor of millions of manhours of design and construction gave way to many
thousands of hospitality workers catering, 24/7, to yet
many more thousands of guests exploring CityCenter, the
Capital of the New World. And while CityCenter celebrated
its much vaunted hotel, retail and casino openings in
December, the Residential Team has been focused on the
upcoming closings of The Residences at Mandarin Oriental,
Las Vegas, Veer Towers and Vdara Condo Hotel.
By assuring quality in preparing the residential operating teams, starting up a mortgage lending
business and counseling over 1,000 buyers on their purchases, no team of residential professionals
has been more active in support of its buyers than your CityCenter Residential Team. Since my last
letter, our achievements include:
• Introducing our price reduction, offering existing depositors an unprecedented 30%
adjustment on closing;
• Implementing our seller financing program with over 500 applications garnered in just
our first 30 days of operation;
• Kicking off our Pre-Delivery Inspection initiative, deploying our Pre-Closing Inspection
(PCI) Representatives to test residences, as your ombudsmen, for finish quality and
readiness prior to your PCI;
• Engaging our residential operating teams — see Your City Concierge story in this
issue — to provide seamless continuity of VIP Residential Concierge service and
unparalleled access to virtually limitless attractions, activities and venues at
CityCenter and the MGM MIRAGE™ collection of resorts;
We will begin to record closings in the coming weeks and the pace will accelerate as we head into
April, with the 30 to 60 days required to complete the processing and underwriting for hundreds
of loan applications and the escrow process. Unlike the public spectacle of CityCenter’s openings,
the residential closings are individual and personal moments. For instance, for the Mandarin
Oriental closings, each occasion is marked by a tingsha bell ceremony to welcome the spirits of new
opportunity and good fortune into the home.
Of course, we congratulate the new homeowners and acknowledge the profound gratitude we feel
for their loyalty and commitment to CityCenter and the fulfillment of their purchase. Being a part
of CityCenter, as many of our homeowners have been for three years, has been a transformational
experience. A home in the Capital of the New World affords our newly closed homeowners a future
of great possibilities.
Sincerely,
Tony Dennis,
Executive Vice President
CityCenter Residential Division

“Transformative.” “Unprecedented.” “Like nothing we have ever

describe the scope and grandeur of CityCenter, and they prove
that CityCenter is revolutionizing the resort industry and Las

acclaim, because the success of this massive undertaking is due in
part to the vision of the residents who saw, just as the CityCenter

the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, is impressed with Mandarin
Oriental’s arrival in Las Vegas. “The Mandarin Oriental is definitely
something new. The brand itself is a luxury brand you certainly

Beyond the glitz and the glamour, CityCenter represents an
economic rejuvenation, with Vince Alberta of the Las Vegas

CITYCENTER BY THE NUMBERS
1 CityCenter is the largest privately funded development in North America. 2 CityCenter is a
50-50 joint venture between MGM MIRAGE and Infinity World Development Corp, a subsidiary of
Dubai World. 3 Located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, CityCenter is six unique destinations
in one location. 4 ARIA Resort & Casino has 4,004 rooms and suites. 5 Vdara Hotel & Spa is a 1,495unit all-suite condo hotel. 6 Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas has 392 guestrooms and 225 residences.
7 Veer Towers has 668 individually owned condominiums. 8 CityCenter has approximately 1,200
feet of Strip frontage. 9 In total, CityCenter has nearly 7,200 hotel rooms and condominiums.
10 Crystals™ has 500,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space. 11 CityCenter is a
high-density, urban-style development. This means it builds up instead of out, placing buildings
closer together with greater density, resulting in more people and activity in the same space.
12 The work of eight world-renowned architects went into CityCenter. 13 CityCenter is built on 67
acres of land, approximately the same size as Bellagio. The Bellagio campus contains 6 million square
feet of space. CityCenter has 18 million square feet of space. 14 The concept of CityCenter was
originally conceived by MGM MIRAGE Chairman and CEO Jim Murren, who studied art history and
urban studies in college. 15 While not considered part of CityCenter, the Bellagio Employee Garage
was the first structure built as part of the project. The site previously served as a surface parking lot
for Bellagio employees, and a structure needed to be built to clear the land so construction could
begin. 16 Veer Towers create a dramatic architectural effect because each 37-story tower leans—or
veers—five degrees from true vertical. 17 CityCenter was built to the strict standards of the U.S.
Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED®, program.
18 CityCenter is one of the largest projects ever registered for LEED certification. 19 In four years of
construction, CityCenter recycled more than 90 percent of all construction waste. 20 Construction
recycling diverted more than 250,000 tons of construction waste from the local landfill—everything
from wooden concrete forms to drywall scraps. 21 More than 70 percent of the steel throughout
CityCenter is recycled material. 22 After the implosion of the Boardwalk Hotel, more than 85 percent
of the rubble was either recycled or reused. 23 Locally sourced materials are used wherever possible
at CityCenter. ARIA’s main porte cochère features a striking wall of stone quarried less than 30
miles from Las Vegas. 24 ARIA’s flowing design was created by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and
50/100
is the centerpiece of CityCenter. 25 ARIA’s hotel tower offers more than 100 hotel room layouts.

26 The ARIA casino offers the only gaming at CityCenter. 27 The pool at ARIA has six bars, 50
cabanas and 1,500 lounge chairs. 28 ARIA’s tri-level convention center features a 400-foot glass
wall with poolside views from every level. 29 ARIA has non-smoking paths throughout the casino.
30 ARIA opened on December 16, 2009. 31 CityCenter’s Central Plant generates a portion of its
own electricity on-site. 32 The Central Plant will produce one-third of the annual electricity needed
at ARIA. 33 Generating electricity on-site is more efficient than transmitting power down long lines
from plants miles away. 34 The technology that generates CityCenter’s electricity uses the same
energy to heat all domestic hot water for all of CityCenter. 35 Water conservation technology and
programs at CityCenter use 30 percent less water than other buildings and 60 percent less water
in outdoor landscaping. 36 CityCenter developed and commissioned the first-ever fleet of stretch
limos powered by clean-burning compressed natural gas. 37 Energy-efficient initiatives provide a
savings equivalent to powering 7,700 households annually. 38 CityCenter has the largest Wi-Fi
access area in the world, covering more than 14 million square feet. 39 More than 6,500 antennas
coupled with nearly 3,000 wireless access points deliver Wi-Fi to every room and anywhere on
the CityCenter campus. 40 ARIA guestrooms have keyless locks with RFID technology. Guests
unlock doors by passing their key over the lock. Keys cannot be demagnetized, reducing key failure.
41 Guestrooms have a single remote for one-touch control of lighting, temperature, televisions, music,
wake-up calls, draperies, and service requests. 42 Each nightstand features a touch-screen panel that
gives guests control of room settings from their bed and a “good night” button that turns off lights,
TVs and music; closes curtains; and turns on the privacy notification. 43 Every ARIA guestroom
includes a 42-inch LCD HDTV and a panel for guests to connect their laptop to the big-screen monitor.
44 All guestrooms are networked with one gigabyte of bandwidth, delivering matchless connectivity
to both Internet and hotel operations. 45 Wireless Internet connectivity is up to eight times faster (128
kilo-bytes) than the average U.S. guestroom today. 46 Maintenance messages—a remote needing new
batteries or a mini-bar needing replenishing—are delivered through the wireless network so problems
can be identified and resolved before the guest is even aware of them. 47 Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas
is part of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, which has more than 41 hotels operating or in development
in 25 countries. 48 Mandarin Oriental features a Sky Lobby on the 23rd floor, where guests check
in while taking in a spectacular view of Las Vegas. 49 Mandarin Oriental has separate valets
for residents, hotel guests and those visiting for meetings and events. 50 Three-star Michelin
Chef Pierre Gagnaire chose Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas for his first-ever U.S. restaurant, Twist.

The Residences at
Mandarin Oriental,
Las Vegas — First Ever to Receive
a Symbolic,
Commemorative Fan
In celebration of Mandarin Oriental’s arrival at CityCenter, the hotel
group has commissioned not one, but two fan-shaped art pieces to
grace the Las Vegas property — the first time in the company’s 25
years. Traditionally, only the hotel receives such an honor, with the
Las Vegas property being the latest location to join the elite few.
This time, a second fan is being bestowed upon The Residences at
Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas—another first for Mandarin Oriental
Hotel Group.
The fans are exclusive decorative additions to the properties, a tradition
that gives the guests and residents a sense of place for that particular
environment and a mark of individuality for the hotels and residences.
The artwork, created by Chinese-American artist Eric Jiaju Lee,
reflects 21st century luxury with oriental charm that is associated
with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group—a mix of the traditional and
the contemporary.
The art incorporates the natural hues of the Southwest desert that
surrounds Las Vegas, most notably in Red Rock Canyon, and the
luxurious experience of urban Las Vegas that is CityCenter. The form
of the fan itself reflects the hotel group’s fan logo, a contemporary
design that represents the quality of service and privileged access to
accommodations that is the essence of the Mandarin Oriental brand.
About the artist: Eric Jiaju Lee is a Chinese-American painter
residing in Brooklyn, New York, with studio practices in both
Brooklyn and Beijing, China.

Many people wake up early to get that cardio or
strength-training session in before their day starts.
But how many people can say they do that on the
roof deck at Veer Towers with panoramic views of
The Strip?
Blend away in the privacy of your own home.
Sip and enjoy your fruit smoothie while taking
in the city sights below through your floor-toceiling windows. Watch the CityCenter tram
whisk by or follow pedestrians below as they
look up in admiration, wonder and intrigue on
who resides in these iconic towers.
A Veer resident only has to travel to his or her tower
lobby to arrange for grocery pick-up and delivery.
While you are out and about shopping for yourself,
let your Concierge take care of your daily needs. If
that means shopping for a party you are hosting only
hours later, no worries. The groceries will be ready and
waiting for you at the Concierge desk upon your return.
For you, maybe it’s a trip to one of the many
stunning art galleries. Or dinner reservations at Eva
Longoria Parker’s Beso. Oh, and don’t forget the
multitude of the world’s most elite and high-end
couture and luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton,
Tiffany & Co., Bulgari, and many, many more.
With 290-plus days of sunshine every year in
southern Nevada, a pool is more of an essential than
an amenity. Return roof-top and enjoy some
summer rays (and the view) as you cool off in your
infinity-edge pool, 37 stories above CityCenter.
As a resident of Veer Towers, enjoy privileged
access to Vdara’s two-level spa, Vdara Health &
Beauty. Sip champagne while Vdara’s health and
beauty experts revitalize the body and spirit.
You’re refreshed from a trip to Vdara’s spa. You’re
looking sharp sporting the freshest styles from
Crystals’ retail boutiques. Now it’s time to host a
gathering of close friends on your Veer amenity
deck, 37 stories high. Play some pool in the billiards
room, socialize outside on the pool deck, enjoy
cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and watch the sun set
over the mountains. A perfect start to an actionpacked evening to come!

canoes suspended in the air, and massive paintings created from natural
elements are just a few of the striking pieces of artwork that are part of the
largest and most ambitious corporate public art program in existence today—
and the residences at CityCenter are at the center of what promises to be the
premier cultural and artistic experience in Las Vegas.
The CityCenter Fine Art Collection has placed the works of 16 acclaimed
painters, sculptors and visionaries throughout the campus, integrating the
art into the varied and stimulating spaces of CityCenter—engaging residents
and visitors with the artist’s vision outside the traditional gallery setting and
offering pieces of art that exist and breathe in CityCenter’s residential, public
and common spaces.
Residents, as they navigate their CityCenter neighborhood, will notice the
visionary and contemporary art pieces reflect not just the artist’s vision, but

that of CityCenter as a whole. These reflective and innovative art pieces are
the perfect complement to the CityCenter experience, which is redefining Las
Vegas for the 21st century and placing the residences at the epicenter of the
emerging art district on The Strip.

Fire Station
As CityCenter residents walk the campus of this modern city-
the best entertainment and accommodation while maintaining a
within-a-city, they will encounter a true metropolitan atmosphere
high degree of safety and effective emergency response.
where culture, entertainment, dining, luxurious accommodations
and first-class service are within reach by tram or by foot. Whether
it’s fine dining within ARIA, a cocktail with a spectacular view of
the city from Mandarin Bar, a relaxing spa session at Vdara, or
Clark County Fire Chief Steve Smith says, “CityCenter provided the
means and the opportunity to help serve the community with a
new fire station.”
shopping amongst the variety of elite retailers at Crystals, residents
The fire station itself has been redesigned to better suit the needs
can immerse themselves in the CityCenter experience day and
of CityCenter. With a new building that occupies half the space of a
night without noticing an important feature that represents a first
regular fire station along with a new fire engine, which was custom
for Las Vegas resorts.
built with a shorter wheel-base to better traverse the narrow
Nestled in a small corner of CityCenter is Fire Station 32, a firstof-its-kind fire station staffed with two shifts of paramedic trained
firefighters and equipped to respond to emergencies both on
campus and throughout the resort corridor.
Bobby Baldwin, CityCenter President and Chief Executive Officer,
says safety was paramount throughout the entire design and
construction process. “The design of these buildings is in close
collaboration with the fire department,” he says. “They are actively
involved in everything we do in order to make CityCenter safe.”
CityCenter and the Clark County Fire Department have been in
cooperation throughout the development process to bring residents
streets of CityCenter, Smith says the new fire station can respond
to emergencies within seven minutes of receiving an emergency
call, far better than the 10- to 15-minute wait time experienced
before Fire Station 32 was operational.
Having a fire station within close proximity is unique for residential
living, Smith says. One aspect, Smith points out, is that “the
firefighters are familiar with the site, they know the property better,
they know the area, they know the staff,” and can better respond
to emergency calls within CityCenter and throughout the resort
corridor. To the on-site firefighters, CityCenter is not just any other
resort, it’s their home as well.
