Celebrate National Library Week!
National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and library
workers and to promote library use and support. From free access to books and online resources
for families to help and support for entrepreneurship and retraining, libraries offer opportunity to
all. The theme for 2016 National Library Week is "Libraries Transform." First sponsored in 1958,
National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA)
and libraries across the country each April.
April 8, 9, and 10: Prepare to celebrate National Library Week by going to the Friends of the Library
(FOL) BOOK SALE at the Community Building, 735 E. Cherry Street!
National Library Week: Monday April 11 to Friday April 15. Need a new poster to decorate your
wall? Each day, Monday thru Friday, there will be a raffle for a different poster. We will also have
special coloring pages available at the Reference Desk. Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to celebrate
National Library Week at the library with a Book in a Jar contest!
Monday, April 11th: Join us for Coloring Time at 6:00 p.m. We will have coloring pages, colored
pencils, crayons, and markers and a drawing for a coloring book.
Tuesday, April 12th: In the Children’s department, Food Transformation will be held from 5-6 p.m.
Join us for stories and to transform ordinary ingredients into delicious recipes with special guest
cook Julie Lutz! Registration is required by visiting the children’s department or calling 330-8544148.
Wednesday, April 13th: Patron Appreciation Day: The FOL will have refreshments. Stop in the
library and be appreciated!
Sunday, April 17th: If you haven’t already joined, come to Community Day at the Northwest High
School and join the Friends of the Library!

KIDS Korner-April 2016
The Rain
Pitter-patter, raindrops,
Falling from the sky;

Feed Me a Story with Miss Brittany: Children ages 3-5 accompanied by an adult are sure to enjoy the
stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts during this story time fun!

School-Age Story Time with Miss Jenn: Children grades K-5 will love reading stories, playing games, and
creating crafts each week!
Thursdays 6-6:45 PM
Family Story Time with Miss. Linda: Families are guaranteed a good time as they explore stories and
activities that are great for children of all ages. This is a relaxed and fun story time for all!

KIDS ‘ Korner -April 2016
The deadline for Kindergarten Club is May 31st so keep reading and finish up
those last few books! You could join the Star Reader list too!
Don’t Forget about Kindermusik!
Kindermusik classes are with Miss Debbie for children ages 1-5 and will be
held every Friday on April 8, 15, 22 & 29 with sessions at 10 AM. and 11 AM.
Through these classes, children learn and grow through play with other children, teachers,
and you. Kindermusik's research-based programs will enhance your child's development and
instill a lifelong love of music.

National Library Week – Food Transformation Program
National Library Week will take place April 10-16! Food Transformation will be held on April
12th from 5-6 PM. Join us for stories and transform ordinary ingredients into delicious

Teen Club
National Poetry Month:
Teen Poetry Contest
April 1st—April 30th
Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to celebrate
National Poetry Month at the library! We will
run the Poetry Contest from April 1- 30, 2016.
Teens can stop by the Reference Desk to pick
up the contest guidelines and information.
The top three winners will receive book gift
cards ($50, $30, and $20), and have their
poems featured on our
website during May.
The winners will be announced
Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
Teen Pokémon Club

All Pokémon fans, ages 12-18, are welcome to
join us for the next Pokémon Club meeting!
We will be making Corner Bookmarks that look

Celebrate National Library Week! April 11 to 16: Libraries Transform!
National Library Week: Monday April 11 to Friday April 15. Need a new poster to decorate your wall? Each day, Monday thru

Monday: Paint a Piggy Bank, perfect for saving your pennies (and other coins): 6:00 PM,
ages 9 and up, space is limited, please sign up at the Reference Desk. Tuesday: Shredding
Day: protect yourself from Identity Theft by shredding your documents, we will have a locked
bin in the Library. Save Money with Coupons: We have a binder full of coupons at the
Reference Desk, feel free to take what you need.
Friday is Earth Day, stop in the Library from 3:00-5:30 PM and plant a sunflower seed (while supplies
last)!

Adult- April 2016
Tax Forms:
April 18, is the filing deadline for all taxes. The Library has received all the tax forms for
this tax season. Forms can also be accessed at www.irs.gov and tax.ohio.gov. The IRS and
State of Ohio forms will be on the table by the Reference Desk. Please only take what is
needed as supplies are limited. Forms will be available through the end of tax season,
April 18.
Book Challenge
From January 1 through December 31, 2016, keep track of all the books you read or
listen to, audiobooks and e-books count. All ages are welcome, we will have a category
for each group: Adults, Teens, and Children. There will be a $50 Book Gift Card for
each winner. Stop by the Reference Desk to pick up a Reading Log and to sign up!
Please only count each book once on your reading log, duplicate titles will not be counted. Only
books will be counted towards the total, no magazines, comics or graphic novels for adult entries.
There are no limits on how many reading logs you turn it.
Databases:
We have many good databases to help you with assignments. Need Homework help? The Library
provides access to many good resources that will help you find the information you need. Check out
the Research tab on our webpage for a full list or stop by the Reference Desk and we will be happy to
help! Looking for family history, the Library has access to Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest. College
students, many of these databases can help you as well!
Find me a good book
Running out of authors to read? The Library can help with that. From our webpage,
www.canalfultonlibrary.org, click on the books tab and then select Need a Recommendation. This will
take you to a form to fill out your likes and dislikes. We will then email you a list of suggested authors
and titles. For more information please stop by the Reference Desk.
Looking for your favorite new movies?
Stop by and pick up a request form at the Browsing DVD display to request the
latest releases, it’s easy, all you need is your library card number. The list
changes every month!

CFPL Board meetings are held in the library, usually on the second Wednesday of each
month at 7:00 P.M. Since there are occasional changes, it is best to confirm the time and
date by calling the library at 330-854-4148. All meetings are open to the public. The
next meeting is April 13 @ 7:00 P.M.

for the Summer Reading Newsletter, by the Canal Fulton Public Library. A free copy of the CFPL Current may be
picked up at the Canal Fulton Public Library and select community outlets. An electronic version of the CFPL Current
