THE WAY AROUND
HBV is located in the southern part of Norway, in four different campuses:
Drammen, Kongsberg, Ringerike and Vestfold. All four campuses are
situated close to Oslo and are easily reachable from the three closest
airports: Oslo Gardermoen, Sandefjord Torp and Rygge Moss.

Campus Drammen
The town of Drammen is located 30 minutes from Oslo, surrounded by a beautiful valley and with a wide river running through
it. Drammen offers a wide variety of social and cultural events with a number of activities and festivals revolving around the river.
Relating to outdoor activities, there is a number of tracks for hiking or bicycling to enjoy during the summer, in addition to golfing
and boating opportunities. In wintertime, you may enjoy the prepared cross-country ski tracks or downhill skiing facilities close to
the city centre.

Campus Kongsberg
Kongsberg was founded as a silver mining town in 1624, and the historical roots of the town are still very visible. Today, the town has
a lively cultural scene, including an annual jazz festival with a large number of international performers and visitors. Kongsberg is
also known for the group of international technology industries. Situated close to the mountains, the city is ideal for outdoor activities
such as alpine and cross-country skiing, hiking and bicycling.

study abroad.
Matthias Müller (26) from Schleswig, Germany is one of many
international students at HBV. This is his second year of the Masters
programme in Maritime Management at Campus Vestfold.
Half of his class consists of students from countries other than
Norway.
– I feel welcome at HBV, and students as well as the staff are usually
very pleased to assist whenever it is required. In my opinion, the
Norwegian educational system goes very well along with students’
social life. I would really recommend other students from outside
Norway to study here.
Matthias Müller, Germany
First choise
Müller wanted to experience a new country and culture. His first choice
was Norway, and HBV had the ideal Master’s programme he needed
to pursue a career within maritime leadership, preferably within
Scandinavian-German trade relations.
– My main motivation to come here was Norway’s excellent reputation
in the maritime sector and the attractive program curriculum. My
motivation to keep going forth with my studies is kept at a high level by
following my favorite modules, such as Ship Operations.
– Lots to do
Müller thrives in the academic and social environment at HBV and
enjoys using the great sporting facilities at Campus Vestfold, as he is a
devoted ping-pong and badminton player.
He is happy staying in the new student housing on campus, and he

– There is a lot of social activites available nearby, and the night life is
great in the towns located around campus. Even Oslo is not too far by
