Every student will have an alteration package to take home with them showing all the alterations that they have done along with their personal full body measurement chart. The second and third day will be identifying your fitting problems and giving you the necessary alterations for your pattern before you cut the muslin dress pants, then moving onto fashion fabric and the construction. (3 days hands on) Triangle Sewing ▲ Page 3 QUICK ART QUILT Wednesday April 8th, 10:00 am – 4:00pm MINI ART QUILT $60.00 + HST Discover the joy of creating your own little piece of art using only odds, ends and scraps of your favourite fabrics. These little quilts make great gifts or mini prizes for a contest or quilt show. Petals from some silk flowers complete the design with the addition of beading optional. Instead of beads you can use some of the fancy decorative stitches from your sewing machine. You will also build the skill of free-motion quilting if you wish, or you can quilt it with your walking foot in a more contemporary style. There are a lot of incidental little machine work and thread skills in this class. Extra bits and pieces will be provided to make your creation stand out. Suitable for all skill levels. Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions. Instructor: Judith M. Eckhardt 10:00 am – 4:00pm $60.00 + HST Discover the wide variety of needles and threads available for use in your sewing and quilting. We will find out what needles need to be used with which threads and why; play with a variety of techniques using assorted needles and threads, and look at both controlled stitching with a variety of feet and a bit of semi-free-motion work for quilting and embroidery. In addition, we will learn how to make simple and corded pin tucks and do couching with yarns, ribbons and cords. This will be a technique class with several samples being the end result. Suitable for all skill levels. Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions. Tuesday April 28th, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm $60.00 + HST In this class, you will explore the traditional mola technique of the Kuna Indians of Panama. We will look at how we can reproduce the technique using our sewing machines and decorative stitching. You will make a panel that can be turned into a cushion, a tote bag or be part of a quilt. Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions. Instructor: Brigitte Dimock WEEKENDER BAG Saturday March 21st or Thursday April 30th, $60.00 + HST The Brother Scan n’Cut is a new toy for many of us. It has a lot of potential for many crafters and hobbyists. I like to use it for textile art projects so working with fused machine applique will be the focus of this class. First we will explore the Brother Scan n’Cut Canvas computer program that was developed to work with the machine. You will design and prepare several shapes for use later in the class. In the second part of the class, you will work with fabrics and fusible web. We will explore suitable fusible materials for the machine, how to prepare and cut your designs primarily with cotton fabric, but I will share ideas for other materials that I have tried. I will bring a broad range of samples to help give an overview of the possibilities with this machine. We will not be doing any sewing in class, but you should go home with a project ready to fuse and sew. Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions. Instructor: Judith M. Eckhardt 10:00 am – 4:00 pm $60.00 + HST Make yourself a bag that goes anywhere! Use it for a weekend away, on the train, bus or plane. This is easy to do and it packs a ton of things. There is some pre-homework so that you can finish your bag the day of the class. You will want to make more as all of your friends and relatives will want one! Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions. BROTHER SCAN N’CUT EXPLORATIONS 10:00 am – 4:00pm $60.00 + HST Instructor: Brigitte Dimock Instructor: Judith M. Experts who whiz through these projects will have time to begin a project of their choice - pajama pants, a beach bag, or a project approved by the instructor. ***If you have already attended one of our kids camps you are welcome to choose a project of your choice and our instructor will guide you through completing the project. We will make a baby sacque in class which you can embellish with machine embroidery, applique or decorate as you please – depending on the fabric you choose they can look great without any extra embellishment. You choose the fabric keeping in mind that they should be made of soft fabric that will stand up to lots of washings. Even light weight cottons and cotton knits provide cover and some warmth throughout the night in air conditioning. Little ones wear these now up to the age of 18 months and sometimes longer!! Makes a great shower gift as well. Zipper insertion and pleater-free, dot-free smocking will be covered in this class! Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions. Instructor: Judith Marquis VICTORIAN CORSET COVER NIGHTGOWN 10:00 am – 5:00 pm $60.00 + HST If you missed the class last fall here is your chance to try it again! Your garment should be as tidy on the inside as outside. In this notebook class you will learn how to do at least ten seam finishes which you can use in a variety of garments and fabrics. From the simplest to a more complicated type you may be inspired to create a garment just to show off some of these creative techniques. Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions. Instructor: Judith Marquis 10:00 am – 5:00 pm $60.00 + HST This class offers a perfect marriage of hand work and machine sewing to create a unique “Kobo Kote” or “Kindle Kase”. Then we will frame this piece to create a padded area to protect your Kobo or Kindle screen. The design is so easy to enlarge to create an “iPad Pouch” - you can have a full set for all your techno tools or create gifts for all your friends. Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.
