DRESS PANT FITTING, CONSTRUCTION AND
BODY MEASUREMENTS
$325.00 + HST
Friday, Saturday & Sunday April 10, 11 & 12, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Are you disappointed in the fit of your dress pants? Come join Ron in a three day
pants fitting workshop. Discover how to identify your fitting problems and how to
correct them. The first day we will take body measurements not only for pants but
for the rest of your body as well. There will be a total of 28 body measurements
for you: high bust, low bust, shoulder width, sleeve length, back waist length, pant
and skirt length....plus more. Part of the first day is learning pant alteration and
doing samples of each; baggy or low seat, full hips or thighs, big tummy, skinny
legs and more. Every student will have an alteration package to take home with
them showing all the alterations that they have done along with their personal full
body measurement chart. The second and third day will be identifying your fitting
problems and giving you the necessary alterations for your pattern before you cut
the muslin dress pants, then moving onto fashion fabric and the construction. Plus
construction tips on fly fronts, hidden stay front, waistbands, underlining and lining.

QUICK ART QUILT
Wednesday April 8th,
10:00 am – 4:00pm
MINI ART QUILT
$60.00 + HST
Discover the joy of creating your
own little piece of art using only
odds, ends and scraps of your
favourite fabrics. These little quilts
make great gifts or mini prizes for
a contest or quilt show. Petals from
some silk flowers complete the
design with the addition of beading
optional. Instead of beads you can
use some of the fancy decorative
stitches from your sewing machine.
You will also build the skill of free-motion quilting if you wish, or
you can quilt it with your walking foot in a more contemporary style.
There are a lot of incidental little machine work and thread skills in this class. Extra bits and pieces will
be provided to make your creation stand out. Suitable for all skill levels. Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.
Instructor: Judith M. Eckhardt
10:00 am – 4:00pm
$60.00 + HST
Discover the wide variety of needles and threads available for use in
your sewing and quilting. We will find out what needles need to be
used with which threads and why; play with a variety of techniques using assorted needles and threads, and look at both controlled stitching
with a variety of feet and a bit of semi-free-motion work for quilting
and embroidery. In addition, we will learn how to make simple and
corded pin tucks and do couching with yarns, ribbons and cords. This
will be a technique class with several samples being the end result.
Suitable for all skill levels.
Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.
Tuesday April 28th, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
$60.00 + HST
In this class, you will explore the traditional mola technique of the
Kuna Indians of Panama. We will look at how we can reproduce the
technique using our sewing machines and decorative stitching. You
will make a panel that can be turned into a cushion, a tote bag or be
part of a quilt.
Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.
Instructor: Brigitte Dimock
WEEKENDER BAG
Saturday March 21st or Thursday April 30th,
$60.00 + HST
The Brother Scan n’Cut is a new toy for many of us. It has a lot of
potential for many crafters and hobbyists. I like to use it for textile
art projects so working with fused machine applique will be the focus
of this class. First we will explore the Brother Scan n’Cut Canvas
computer program that was developed to work with the machine. You
will design and prepare several shapes for use later in the class. In
the second part of the class, you will work with fabrics and fusible
web. We will explore suitable fusible materials for the machine, how
to prepare and cut your designs primarily with cotton fabric, but I will
share ideas for other materials that I have tried. I will bring a broad
range of samples to help give an overview of the possibilities with this
machine. We will not be doing any sewing in class, but you should go
home with a project ready to fuse and sew.
Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.
Instructor: Judith M. Eckhardt
10:00 am – 4:00 pm
$60.00 + HST
Make yourself a bag that
goes anywhere! Use it for
a weekend away, on the
train, bus or plane. This is
easy to do and it packs a
ton of things. There is some
pre-homework so that you
can finish your bag the day
of the class. You will want to make more as all of your friends and
relatives will want one!
Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.
BROTHER SCAN N’CUT EXPLORATIONS
10:00 am – 4:00pm
$60.00 + HST
Instructor: Brigitte Dimock
Instructor: Judith M. Eckhardt
Saturday May 23rd, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Would you like to make
better use of your machine’s
decorative stitches? Then
sign up for this class. We
will make a whimsical
mini art quilt using various
stitches and techniques.
Don’t worry that you may
not have a particular stitch;
you can always substitute
another one. Sewing these little quilts is wonderfully liberating as
there is no right or wrong. It is whatever you want it to be. It is also a
good way to use up leftover fabrics; you probably already have everything you need for the class.
Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.

JANOME SEW- A-LONG CLUB
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$5.00 per month
The Janome Club meets the second Thursday of every month. To join, you simply must own a
Janome sewing machine! While we will always have a sew-a-long project going, we encourage
members to bring show and tell, new projects and ideas, or any project you would like to work on.
It is a place to socialize with other sewing enthusiasts, share, learn, and teach!
This club is designed to assist everyone who owns these types of machines in getting started and
continuing to grow. Guest speakers, problem solving, projects, new products, designs, and web
site information these are just some of the things the club offers. More importantly its major backup with a bit of socializing all rolled into one. No meetings in July or August.
EMBROIDERY CLUB PLUS
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$5.00 per month
The Embroidery Club meets the fourth Thursday of every month. All brands are welcome. Our
nights can include demos, guest speakers and/or sew & tell. Although we feature machine embroidery, we share many different projects that are created using a sewing machine. Whether you are an
experienced sewer/embroiderer or a newbie, we welcome everyone. Bring your projects – finished or
not. Bring your questions, problems, as well as your successes. The club is meant to help as well as
inspire. You will love all the down to earth girls in the group too! Come check it out! Our next meeting will be September 26th. (No meetings in December, January, February, July and August.)
KIDS CAMPS: THE BASICS OF
SEWING JUST ABOUT ANYTHING
$150.00 + HST + supplies
Campers will begin by making an easy environmentally friendly lunch bag to learn or review the
basics of cutting, finishing seams, and sewing straight lines. Having mastered the basics, campers will
then make a pillowcase to master the basics with the addition of topstitching and using decorative
stitching to personalize projects. Campers will then learn to read a pattern while making a backpack
which includes techniques for creating a drawstring casing and attaching web straps. Finally, zipper,
interfacing, and lining techniques will be used to make a case that could also be used as a pencil case
or to keep small sewing items in one place! Experts who whiz through these projects will have time to
begin a project of their choice - pajama pants, a beach bag, or a project approved by the instructor.
***If you have already attended one of our kids camps you are welcome to choose a project of your
choice and our instructor will guide you through completing the project. Please make sure that we
have approved the project in advance to ensure it, as well as the fabric, are appropriate.***

$150.00 + HST (per session)
New quilters welcome! Join fellow quilters, whether newbie or seasoned quilter, for an evening of
quilting fun! Start a new project or use these evenings as an opportunity to finish any UFO (unfinished project), get help with any “problems” that are preventing you from moving forward with a
project, get ideas or advice for new projects, learn new techniques, or just enjoy working with fellow
quilters. Each week the instructor will present useful tips on: how to use a quilting tool, tricky techniques, or other quilting applications to help Quilt Club members finish their projects. Mostly, seeing
so many different projects on-the-go at once, simply inspires new quilts and challenges! Please let
us know what your interests are at the time of registration so we can customize the evenings to meet
your specific needs.

If you missed the class last fall here is your chance to try it again!
Since you cannot buy a baby nightie anymore and safety regulations
have outlawed baby blankets, this garment has become very popular
and practical. We will make a baby sacque in class which you can
embellish with machine embroidery, applique or decorate as you
please – depending on the fabric you choose they can look great without any extra embellishment. You choose the fabric keeping in mind
that they should be made of soft fabric that will stand up to lots of
washings. Even light weight cottons and cotton knits provide cover
and some warmth throughout the night in air conditioning. Little ones
wear these now up to the age of 18 months and sometimes longer!!
Makes a great shower gift as well. Zipper insertion and pleater-free,
dot-free smocking will be covered in this class!
Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.
Instructor: Judith Marquis
VICTORIAN CORSET COVER NIGHTGOWN
10:00 am – 5:00 pm
$60.00 + HST
If you missed the class last fall here is your chance to try it
again! Your garment should be as tidy on the inside as outside.
In this notebook class you will learn how to do at least ten
seam finishes which you can use in a variety of garments and
fabrics. From the simplest to a more complicated type you may
be inspired to create a garment just to show off some of these
creative techniques.
Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.
Instructor: Judith Marquis
10:00 am – 5:00 pm
$60.00 + HST
This class offers a perfect marriage of hand work and machine sewing
to create a unique “Kobo Kote” or “Kindle Kase”. We will try a touch
of fabric manipulation done on the wrong side of the fabric which
will create a mysteriously “woven” appearance in the fabric. Then
we will frame this piece to create a padded area to protect your Kobo
or Kindle screen. The design is so easy to enlarge to create an “iPad
Pouch” - you can have a full set for all your techno tools or create
gifts for all your friends.
Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.
Thursday May 14th, Instructor: Judith Marquis
Tuesday March 24th, “KOBO KOTES” & “KINDLE KASES”
Thursday April 2nd, MAKE A NEWBORN SLEEP SACQUE
The art of smocking is ever so
rewarding whether you smocked
30 years ago and just need to brush
up on your technique or you have
never taken a stitch. In this class
you will gain the confidence to
carry on and start creating garments
on your own Kit ($20.00 + HST) to
include a smocking primer, 2 pieces
of smocked fabric (One to practise
your stitches and one to make a
needle book), embroidery floss and needle.
Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.

Tuesday June 9th, $60.00 + HST
10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Inspired by beautiful Victorian corset covers, this nightgown offers
a challenge to all levels of sewers alike. We will work with beautiful laces and exquisite Swiss insertion to create a gown fit to wear
in public! Tucks, gathers, shaped laces and entredeux all are used in
this design. Pattern available in class in sizes S, M & Lg. Additional
techniques will be demonstrated for the hem finishing. No beginners

There are several different styles to choose from in this book. You can
choose to do a zipper across the top or a snap closure. The techniques
in this book tackle all of the tricky details of making bags with designer
results. The grommets are sized perfectly for two common sized grommets. The corner designs are both functional and elegant. One

This beautiful wall hanging is all done in the hoop. It is a different embroidery technique and a great way to experiment doing an appliqué
using a different format. The sky fabrics can also be done in dark blues
(we refer to this as a night sky). You can also add a bit of orange fabric
for the flower. This is an Anita Goodesign pattern. Remember to ask
for your supply list and pre-class instructions.

TooWoon Bay Morning Glories is a great class to learn how to make
Decoupage flowers and leaves, using lattice work to add some dimension to your project, learning a new way to continuously embroider
out your squares for the middle using the Jenny Join Technique. Then
cover the Jenny Join with ribbon, adding borders with batting that are
sandwiched between. We will use the circle design and turn it into a
continuous design to quilt the border. There are a lot of techniques to
learn but you will enjoy every minute of it.
Remember to ask for your supply list and pre-class instructions.
