Nobilo Icon Sauvignon Blanc is a wine of exceptional palate weight and length, with a superb
balance of opulent fruit flavours, clean minerality, and mouthwatering acidity.
Grapes for the 2012 blend were selected from our vineyards in the Awatere Valley, the Upper
Wairau Valley, and Rapaura subregions of Marlborough. A rigorous blind tasting process by
our winemakers ensured that only fruit of exceptional intensity was accepted for inclusion in
the Icon blend.
The Awatere vineyards provide flinty minerality and herbal notes, while our Upper Wairau vineyards
produce a rich mouthfilling palate weight, and the Rapaura fruit provide lifted, thiol-driven, top
notes of passion fruit, citrus zest, and tropical aromas.
2012 was a classic cool climate vintage. The cool weather allowed for extra hang time so generous
fruit flavors and minerality, that are a signature hallmark for the Icon Sauvignon Blanc, were
in abundance.
Upon harvest, the grapes were destemmed and pressed to tank with moderate skin contact to
encourage the release of flavor precursors bound in the skin.
Each block was cool fermented separately for a prolonged period, utilizing a variety of yeasts
known to accentuate a complex array of aromas and flavors, and to develop the sumptuous,
mouthfilling palate for which Nobilo Icon Sauvignon Blanc is renowned.
