Day 1
California Dreamin’ on such a winters day... This morning we
depart on our non-stop flight from Detroit Metro Airport to
San Diego to begin our winter getaway to the Sunshine State,
California. Upon arrival, our deluxe motor coach meets us at
the airport and takes us to Seaport Village on the San Diego
harbor to soak up some rays, get some lunch on our own and
shop. Seaport Village is a treasure trove of 70 one-of-a-kind
shops and restaurants with meandering footpaths, ponds, a
graceful lagoon, beautiful fountains and lush, colorful landscaping. This afternoon, we check into our brand new hotel in
San Diego’s Mission Valley, home for the next three nights.
We return to our hotel to freshen up before an included dinner
this evening at a unique southern California restaurant with
panoramic waterfront views.
Day 2
Breakfast is included this morning before departing on a tour
of San Diego and the surrounding area. Our guide will narrate as we see points of interest such as Sunset Cliffs, Old
Town, Balboa Park, Mission Bay, the Gas Lamp Quarter,
Coronado and La Jolla. Stops will be made for lunch on our
own and exploration as we learn all about the area and what
makes it such a desirable place to visit and live. This afternoon, we have a few hours of free time at the hotel before we
depart for Cardiff State Beach for a stroll along the Pacific
Ocean. Located on the San Diego Coast, this beach area has

Seaport Village
San Diego Harbor
been named the Riviera of the West for it’s gently sloping sandy
beach with warm water. Dinner this evening is included at the
Chart House Restaurant overlooking the Pacific Ocean. With
floor to ceiling windows, the entire dining room is open to the
natural environment, giving every table a fabulous view of the
ocean and sky.
Day 3
Today we spend a good part of our day at the San Diego Zoo
after our included breakfast. Situated in Balboa Park on 100
acres, the world renowned San Diego Zoo features over 3,700
animals in simulated natural habitats. It is one of the few zoos in
the world that house the giant Panda. Upon arrival, we board a
double decker bus for a guided tour that covers about 70 percent of the zoo. Time for exploration and lunch on our own will
follow our tour before departing for Birch Aquarium at Scripps
Institute of Oceanography. Explore where the wonders of the
ocean come alive! Encounter a dazzling variety of marine life
from the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest to the tropical seas
of Mexico and the South Pacific. Experience the outdoor tidepool plaza overlooking the sparkling Pacific Ocean and the
engaging museum featuring exhibits which highlight the latest
research by Scripps explorers. Rest and refresh at the hotel
before our big evening out. Tonight we set sail on San Diego’s
Harbor for a two and a half hour dinner cruise with musical
entertainment and spectacular views of the skyline. Breath in the
fresh air as we sail past Harbor and Shelter Islands, Point Loma,
Cabrillo National Monument, North Island Naval Air Station, the
Submarine Base, Coronado Bridge and more.
Day 4
Following our included breakfast this morning, we depart for
Los Angeles. Nicknamed the City of Angels, L.A is framed by
the Santa Ana Mountains and is one of the most culturally
diverse cities in America. A tour of the area with a local step
on guide highlights our day. We visit the areas of Downtown,
Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Little Tokyo, Chinatown and of
course Hollywood. We have a chance to see the Walk of Fame
and a photo opportunity with the Hollywood sign. Walk in the
footsteps of the stars as we explore this amazing metropolis. This
evening we check into The Mission Hotel and Spa located in
California’s beautiful town of Riverside. Occupying an entire city
block, this iconic hotel has remained faithful to the grand style
and ambiance enjoyed by its very first guests in 1876. It is a
place where magnificent vistas harbor countless hidden treasures
where the outside world is left behind to set a vivid stage for
memories that will last a lifetime. As a National Historic
Landmark and member of the prestigious Historic Hotels of
America, the Mission Inn evokes the enchantment of a European
castle with a design conceived by some of California’s most
famous architects. Dinner this evening is included at the resort.
The remainder of the evening is ours to explore the grounds and
enjoy the many amenities here.
Day 5
Today we explore the the desert resort city of Palm Springs
located in the Coachella Valley. Since the 1920’s, Palm Springs
has been Hollywood’s desert playground for celebrities to relax
and escape the hustle and bustle of showbiz. Aboard the Palm
Springs Aerial Tramway, the World’s Largest Rotating
Tramcar, we experience a breathtaking journey up the sheer
cliffs of Chino Canyon and view magnificent vistas, wildlife and
landforms of the pristine wilderness of the area on a ten minute

ride. Our lunch will be included once we reach Mountain Station at the
top of the San Jacinto Mountains. Once we descend down the mountain
on a return tram, we depart on a guided tour of Palm Springs and the
Coachella Valley. Driving by the celebrity homes in the area, we hear
how Palm Springs became the town of choice when Hollywood needed
to let its hair down. Hear revealing stories of the sizzle, scandal and
gossip that defined the Hollywood scene as we drive by the celebrity
homes of Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack, Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe
and more. Explore the Coachella Valley Preserve, home to spectacular
Thousand Palms Oasis which is fed by water seeping out of the San
Andreas Fault. Descending into a grotto-like coolness, the sudden airconditioned feeling we experience is from the shade of the fan palms.
We stroll through hundreds of palms whose shaggy skirts hide creatures
from the glaring sun. Pupfish swim in quiet pools and lounging fringe
toed lizards burrow into their favorite sand dunes. Dinner this evening is
included at Melvyn’s restaurant, located on the premises of the
legendary Ingleside Inn. Melvyn’s is the elegantly upbeat home of
authentic Hollywood glamour and is truly a unique experience in fine
dining. We may even catch a glimpse of a famous celebrity!
Day 6
Today we depart Riverside for Las Vegas, NV. Before we go, we stop
at a local citrus stand to pick up fresh goodies for the next couple of
days. We’ll stop for lunch on our own before arriving at The D Hotel
in Las Vegas, NV. The all new Detroit themed casino and hotel
features high end amenities, casino, showroom and more. The
remainder of the evening is ours to enjoy.
Day 7
Today is ours to spend as we wish. Explore Las Vegas; take in a show,
hit the casino or just people watch. There is always something to do in
the city that never sleeps. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are on our own.
Day 8
Take the morning to relax in Las Vegas before our non-stop flight back to
the Motor City as we reflect on the good times we’ve had in California.
