CMS Recycle Club:
Educators of Energy!
This year, our club focused on
educating other kids, our
community, and our families on
the importance of learning about
our natural renewable resources,
conserving energy, and
encouraging one another to make
a positive impact in the fight to
help mother Earth!
Activity 1: Energy Carnival
Energy Content Activities:
Demonstrated to
elementary students through fun and simple games
the importance and value of renewable energies, the
advantages and disadvantages of renewable
energies, and what we can do to conserve energy at
home.
Student Leadership:
3 groups of middle
school students lead different energy game
stations. Each game station was set up and
directed by that group. All materials for each
station were prepared by the student group.

Activity 2: Recycling!
Energy Content Activities:
Our club recycles
because we want to reduce landfill build-up, reduce our
reliance on fossil fuels, and create an atmosphere were
kids respect their environment. With participation in
recycling from the teachers and students we can help
change the impact our community has on our natural
world.
Student Leadership:
Our club promotes and
encourages others to recycle. During our yearly pep rally,
our club members put together a presentation for the
teaching staff and student body that explains the benefits
of recycling and what items can and cannot be recycled.

Energy Resources
Energy Content Activities:
Students
researched the pros and cons of each of the
renewable and nonrenewable resources, our
reliability on each resource, and the impacts of
using them in our society today.
Students Leadership:
Each student group was
responsible for collecting research for their
assigned resource using the NEED Energy
InfoBooks and website to put their scrapbooks
together.

Media
Energy Content Activities:
Through social media, students

Students were responsible for guiding the conversation and
being respectful of other students opinions while engaging
in arguments. Recycle club members were facilitators of the

of stations. Students identified which energy
transformation was occurring and explained how each
transformation conserved energy.
Student Leadership:
Student leaders were responsible for creating the
