EVENT AT PEBBLE BEACH TO BENEFIT
OPERATION FREEDOM PAWS
We were all impressed and moved by Mary Cortani’s
presentation at our March luncheon of Operation Freedom Paws that serves our military heroes and others with
disabilities.
The annual Pebble Beach “Table Affair”
event at the Conference Center this year will benefit this
fitting charity. It takes place immediately following our
luncheon on April 23rd. See more complete information

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Membership in the Stillwater Club continues to evolve as expected. As of this
writing in 2015 we have eight new
members, some of whom have attended
luncheons and been introduced to everyone present. As a reminder, they are
Bob Webster, Ric Handler, Dave Barrett,
Fred Siegel, Taum Dell’Armo, John Alich, Michael Addison and Rob Gallaway. Please make them welcome. You
can c hec k out their biographical
sketches on the following pages.
We have multiple new member applications in process, and one former member will renew his membership. Unfortunately, one member has been removed
because he no longer can be contacted.
We are now close to 180 active members with a near-term goal of 200.
The new member application form and
instructions are on the Stillwater Club
website [www.stillwaterclub.org]. Ask
your prospects to complete the form and
to mail it together with their check, 50100 word bio and “head shot” photo to
The Stillwater Club, P O Box 933, Pebble Beach, CA 93953. If anyone has

Stillwater 18 Hole Golfers Meet
MPCC Dunes Challenge on Mar 9 Six teams squared-off at Del Monte hoping to tame the old course. The outcome:
we’ll keep trying. At two-over the winners were Spence Myers, Que Spaulding, Jan Valtr, and guest Mark Giudici.
From this stellar team also came a 60
foot birdie chip-in by Valtr and Longest
Putt by Giudici of 19 feet. Second place
went to the team of Bob Webster, Stacy
Smith, Dick Hughes, and Chuck Olsen.
Closest to Pin honors went to Maurie
Gardner with a 13 footer on hole #4.
Early fog, a peek of mid-morning
sun, and then chilling wind made
the MPCC Dunes Course a formidable challenge for the 18 Hole
Golf Group. Twenty-four players
braced themselves and charged
forth. The foursome of Dick Ely,
David Day, Kent Farnsworth, and
Jan Valtr posted a best two of four
balls “123” to best the field and
garner first place. After a tie
breaking card playoff, the second
place prize went to the team of Jim
Fuqua, Jeff Riehl, Art Jacobs,, and
Jake Vigil. Golfers Charlie Delahay, Kent Farnsworth (blind draw),
Miles Lindquist, and Dennis Riley
proudly took third place. Peter
Henning hit a shot 5’10.5” from the
flagstick on hole #7, and Matthew
Myers placed his shot 16’11” from
the pin on hole #10 to grab closest
to the pin honors. Players reported
having an enjoyable experience,
which was for most a last chance to
play the classic Dunes Course before renovation begins in April. The next 18 Hole Outing is scheduled for the East Course at Rancho
Cañada Golf Club on April 6,
2015. Corral de Tierra
3-17-15
Six teams faced-off on St. Patrick’s Day
at Corral de Tierra. There was apparently some Irish luck in the team of Peter
Stern, Jesse Kahn, and Bob Webster as
they took first place with a sizzling twounder par. Stern was especially full of
blarney as he also sunk the longest putt
of the day at 38’9”.
The team of Jeff
Riehl, Jake Vigil, and Steve Wheeler took
second with a one-under par. Closest to
the pin was Charlie Delahay with a 12.5
footer on #8 leading his team to a birdie.
The 9 holers played March 31 (too late
for the presses) and will meet April 14 at
Quail, and April 28 at Pacific Grove.

The bridge group maintains an email list
of SWC members that expressed interest
in play Chicago Style Bridge. We every
Thursday, excluding our SWC meeting
day. We send out an email every Sunday evening to see who wants to play
and have lunch. We typically draw anywhere
from 8 to 16 players. If we draw an uneven number, we attempt to fill the tables
with subs. The upcoming bridge games
for the next few months are: 4/2; 4/9; 4/
16; 4/30; 5/7; 5/21; 5/28; and 6/4.
We play at Del Mesa. For those that are
interested, several members have lunch in
the Del Mesa dinning room at Noon.
Our game starts at 1300.
We are always interested in having SWC
members that haven’t played with us before to join in. Our SWC membership is
rich with duplicate players … including
some ACBL life masters. We could use
your expertise in helping to raise the
quality of our game. Please give some
thought to joining us.
To put it in golfing terms, our ‘green fees’
are only $3.

There is more money being spent on breast implants
and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This
means that by 2020, there should be a large elderly
population with perky boobs and huge erections and
absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.
Pfizer Corp. announced today that Viagra will soon be
available in liquid form, and will be marketed by Pepsi
Cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer..
It will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one.
