Page 5 of 10 So, there may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only a dozen or so ways to get to the Round Top Antiques Show. Because you asked, we have put together some alternative options for arriving at your Round Top Antiques Show destination. The “best” way to get a feel for the entire show is to travel down Highway 237 from 290 to Rutersville, coming from the north, or taking Highway 159/237 from La Grange from the south. With that said, 100,000 of your soon-to-bebest-friends are doing the same thing. So, if you are making multiple trips to the show and are hunting by area—or if you know exactly where you want to go, try one of these “short cuts.” WARRENTON The Chicken Ranch TexPunk Cole’s ATM (perm), Ex-Cess I & ii H Home to Recycling the Past Clutter ATM 3/18-4/3, 9AM-7PM, 2 vendors OPENING PARTY 3/18, 4-7PM BluebonneT FIELD North Gate Field Bar W Field ATM, 3/17-4/3 Tin Star Field Zapp Hall ATM 3/25-4/3, 10AM-7PM, 85 vendors H Home to Junk Gypsy Dillard’s Field St. John’s Church (paid) , Parking lot opens 3/18, Food/dealers open 3/23-4/2 Robinson’s Field Tree Park Field Campbell Building 3/24-4/3, 9AM-6PM, 17+ vendors Renck Hall & YARD 3/24-4/3, 9AM-6PM, 250 vendors Third Base Bar Field Das Gruene Haus (paid) Recycling the Past (perm), 3/18-4/3, 8AM-5PM, also by appt. The unique businesses, including art galleries, restaurants, gift shops, antiques stores, vintage collections, repurposing meccas and boutiques, will bring you back year-round—year after year. The population of Round Top hovers around 90 people for most of the year meaning you’ll have plenty of elbow room as you explore. The entire Roundtopolis beckons. Book a room at a local inn or B&B and declare Round Top as your home base for a relaxing, fun-filled getaway. Currently, shops in Henkel Square are open Wednesday through Sunday. Businesses at Bybee Square are open Thursday through Sunday. Rummel Square is being renovated right now. Its two open businesses, Townsend Provisions and Espressions Coffee & Art, have varied hours. When it comes to dining, be sure to call ahead if you’re not sure of your favorite place’s hours. On Monday, no restaurants are open in Round Top, but the Round Top Mercantile offers made-to-order sandwiches and the Round Top Rifle Association hosts “Burgers and Brews” on most Monday evenings at the Rifle Hall. Austin to Marburger, The Compound, The Rendezvous, follow this version: The universally agreed upon, GPS-friendly Google map-suggested way is to arrive via Highway 290 — either from Austin or Houston—and turn south on Highway 237. (The I-10/Highway 71 version routes you to La Grange and north on Highway 159/237.) Doing so, coming from Houston means you get to stop by Leftovers, and Truth BBQ in Brenham, the Burton shops of Old Glory Antiques (only open during the show) and Flown the Coop, among others, and then head to Highway 237 to begin your stops—with maybe a jog into Carmine. If you’re coming from Austin, you have the opportunity to hit the shops in Carmine such as McCall Styles, Unique Antiques, Carmine Trading Post, and the Carmine Dance Hall Show, which is part of the Original Round Top Antiques Fair. From there continue to Loop 438 and decide if you want to go left on Highway 237 to hit La Bahia or go right and start with Big Red Barn as you travel from north to south and hit all of the shows. A stop light has been installed at the intersection of Main and 237. To Round Top From Austin on Highway 71 1. 71 to La Grange, then north on 77 2.
