Winter 2015/16 - Camp Lindenmere
January 2016 Connection The Official Newsletter Of Camp Lindenmere 201 5 W e had a fantastic day together at the Funplex! We are so grateful to make it up from Florida to see everyone at the Funplex. It warms our hearts watching you jump into each other’s arms and hearing of the sleepovers the night before. There were so many fun things to do together and it can’t get any better than spending a day with your camp friends playing arcade games, riding rides, racing around the go-kart track, challenging each other in laser tag, taking photo booth pictures and hearing about what you have been up to since summer. We enjoyed our pizza lunch while watching the summer slideshow and sang along to the best summer songs. We even heard some dining hall cheers rising up! We hope you all loved getting our Lindenmere Scarves and Summer 2015 CD as holiday gifts! The reunion truly helps the long off season feel shorter and continues to build on one of the most rewarding communities to be a part of, CAMP. We hope you all had a great day and for those of you who couldn’t join us, you were missed! We look forward to when we are reunited for summer 2016. Then.Now.Always! Dear kids, parents & family, Only 150 days until I get up to camp… Who’s Counting… ME… as always. The summer of 2016…doesn’t that sound great?! I am excited that we have so many returning kids and staff and with the new additions we are making, I am sure this will be the greatest summer in our 81 year history. The key is to keep all the traditional things and add new fun things to the mix. So much of camp is the atmosphere we all create together BUT adding new and exciting things is always great for everyone. Our new hockey arena is all cleared off and ready for construction and we are finalizing plans on several new majors and evening activities. All this is great but nothing is like being with all your camp friends on those beautiful Pocono summer days and nights… Camp!!! Mitch Mitch’s Corner IE A LETTER FROM OD NEW HOCKEY PAVILION! As you know, each summer we assess all of our program areas around camp and decide which need to have new facilities added. We also take a look at how the rest of camp can benefit from those upgrades. It is so important to maximize every bit of space that we have to give our campers the best summer of their lives. This year we have undertaken a massive project that will benefit both the program area and will also serve as an all-purpose, camp-wide resource! We are happy to announce that we have already begun construction on a giant hockey pavilion where the old hockey court used to be. This building is going to be constructed by the very same Amish builders that we used for the Lindendome and the Circus pavilion. The new hockey pavilion is going to be over 9200 square feet and will be equipped with a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system! Over half of the brand new color-coated black top will be the new hockey arena. Over the past few years, our hockey program has become one of the more popular sports on camp and this facility is going to give our campers exactly what they want and deserve. New boards, state-of-the-art equipment, the best staff and great campers are going to make hockey one of the hottest (not literally because now they’re in the shade!) activities on camp. The other benefit of building a huge structure like this is that it adds an additional 9,200 square feet to our already 37,000 plus square feet of covered activity space. As a camp, we want to be able to handle any and all weather situations that come our way for both our program and evening activities. Our programs are only getting stronger and won’t be effected by any weather conditions in Henryville. Stay tuned for more announcements on new majors, minors, activity areas and new and returning staff. We know that 2016 is going to be the best summer ever! Then. Now. Always! All you have to do is find a Lindenmere t-shirt, a pair of scissors and we can get started! Follow these simple directions: Step 1 Snip the shirt under the arm hole. (you don’t need a huge cut) Step 2 Tear the shirt across and the fabric will curl on itself. If there is a seam on the other side, you may need to snip the other side too. You can step on the loop and pull it to stretch it out more. And you are done! Yep – it’s that easy! Send us a picture of you wearing your Camp Lindenmere DIY scarf and we’ll post your amazing creations on our Facebook Fan Page!
